The Kylo Prayer scene with ‘I will finish what he started’.

I think it would be a more difficult line even for Adam Driver, much less my audio-cobbling skills, but maybe it sounds good enough.

If someone wants to send me the ‘Vader’ line from TROS, I can see if that works.

i like it very much! Nearly impossible to hear this is added, especially if someone doesn’t know.
Also i think „he“ works better than „vader“, because ben is reverent towards vader.

Count me in with the people saying the voices during the interrogation is a GREAT idea. Nicely done!

+1. I dig it.
And can only only to what RougeLeader is saying. Might be worth to play around with Vader. Now, from my perspective (as any other would see otherwise), i found it a little confusing, because he´s reffering to snoke and the we see vaders helmet. I didn´t made the connection, that the helmet could be somekind of a gift from snoke. Therefore can´t really tell why the helmet is shown.

Thanks Hal. In fact, apologies folks, but I think I’m going to take a mental health day today. I was intending to spend this weekend fixing up the polish backlog but yesterday I had some unpleasant personal stuff happen and it needs a little processing and then a bit more of a descent into comfort for the rest of the day. All relatively minor, and it’s nothing that’ll impact this project in the long term, but right now it’ll just slow me down by a week or so more than expected.

Take your time. personal life is always first place.

your overall intention for bail organa is the right decision. for me personally just not in this episode.

A general hard cut on all episodes? Mh, it depends but overall i think this could work. Just for the video of course, as a consequence the audio would’ve to come in faster or as near as to a hard audio fade in as possible.
but i’ve to look into the other episodes to get a feeling for this idea. an sample could be helpful.

Re-released - S01E01 - The New Padawan v1.5 - Fully polished release version

Comprising my Christophsis episode, new changes as above.

V1.5 link is in the spreadsheet, PM for access.

Watched „The New Padawan“ again.

  • i’ve the feeling the bail organa scene adds nothing, especially because we got no reaction from anakin to his comment
  • still feel the episode ending to credits should be a hard cut visually and no fade out.

No framedrops occured to me.

CMMAP, so well I loaded the movie the Dark Knight and started tinkering.

Guess I’ll start a new thread for it. : )

Pahaha, i wanted to respond, that’s totally ok if you favour other projects and your personal life.
But this news is received with great joy! The timing is right, because i’m thinking of upgrading to a little home cinema with an ust laser projector and a 222 x 125 cm screen😁

Thanks, maybe I’ll experiment with this next time I render it out.

Which program do you use for encoding or do you use the build-in encoding from your video editing program?

Unfortunately i’ve no skills in editing, vfx etc but if anyone would be able to add the supremacy to exogol would be dope.

Your editing on reys eyes is impeccable, btw.

hello krausfadr,

watched your edit three times already^^
So i started to notice one more thing:

  • 5:56 till 6:06 —-> this shot seems to be dimmer/more grey than the shots before and after in the cellar (can you verify that?), 6:11 is perfectly fine again (nearly the same shot and angle)

Otherwise found nothing new.

So, do you have plans for and to do TDK, TDKR?^^

Extremely crude example but shows how you may see the lightning affecting the surrounding area.

  1. Does the light reflet into the whole room
  2. Just red lightning like the animation series?

It would also say that only the red lightning looks much better and if i recall correctly, i´ve never seen sith-lightning have an impact on the surroundings in a major way regarding colours

The End of the Jedi (Ep. 8 and 9)

So, i watched it in full. Other than my two notes, i’ve to say it works really well.

  • 33:15, odd change of scenery from exegol to the force talk of rey and kylo. But that’s me, i think it is possible to get used to it
  • luke destroying the supremacy is a really nice idea, but i not sure it works narrative wise because in the last battle on exegol we never see her (of course we know she still exists in your edit up to this point) and suddenly luke is attacking her through the force. My thoughts though

Regarding your question with encode settings: i think most of the bigger editors use always „crf“ of 18 to 20 and two pass (if there want to achieve a non-noticable compression regarding picture quality) rather than vbr.

What will you settings be for the higher bitrate version?

Will watch the “old” one later tonight, to provide some feedback. Right now just skipped through it very rufly to key moments.

  • Reys orange eyes should emphazise that she got help from Luke or her dark side? Love either way, but if it is the first one, maybe you can accquire some line, where Luke says he´ll help her (whilst she´s lying on her back and looks up in the sky). I feel the line “the force will be with you always” isn´t enough for the viewer, to jump to the conclusion he helps her, even if you show him exhausted afterwards.

Oh! Major idea! As discussed, I’m thinking of dropping Lightsaber Lost. Its main element, Ahsoka learning to slow down, is better covered by her behaviour near the end of the Holocron Crisis, plus her journey to the Coruscant underworld with Plo Koon in the Boba Fett arc. But the other nice element from Lightsaber Lost that would be nice to retain is the ending, where we start to see Ahsoka as a bit of a teacher, passing on lessons to younglings.

In that scene, she’s mainly focusing on slowing down and not losing your lightsaber. And that doesn’t really fit after Seven Warriors (AKA Bounty Hunters) even after doing a bit of teaching there.

But, the perfect placement for it could be as the final scene of the Holocron arc, where (1) she’s just kind of realised for herself to slow down a bit, and (2) ANAKIN’S JUST LOST HIS LIGHTSABER. So her saying “this weapon is your life” to the Jedi younglings can be taken in the new context that she’s going to tell them the story of what’s just happened, INCLUDING THE LESSONS SHE’S LEARNED FROM IT HERSELF. She’s demonstrating her own reflection on her experiences - that makes her wise, especially for someone so young. It also shows that Anakin’s sharing his own key experiences. And then her choosing to teach younglings, rather than doing it because she’s been told to, makes her seem more empathetic and more authoritative. (Then opening S2 with Seven Warriors, where she’s once again teaching - and confidently too - would continue to work well.)

Now, that would mean that the final scenes of the Holocron arc would be:

  1. Jedi Council wrap up the plot
  2. Anakin (and Ahsoka) go to Palpatine and both talk about how it was probably the Sith Lord behind it all
  3. Ahsoka goes and talks to younglings about it all

So you’d lose the impact of ending on that nice sinister moment with Palpatine, BUT we all know how that ends, AND this is the Ahsoka show, not the Anakin/Palpatine show. This would make that episode even MORE of a good capper to the season, really bringing together all of her growth.

i like it, creative idea. i couldn’t have come up with something like this

So in general to your “Change of Presentation”, i agree with your thoughts, but find it pivotal to outline an episode narrative order before actually editing. Otherwise you´ll end up “fixing” or rearranging or deleting scenes in prior episodes and never be satisfied or finished.

A strike at heart Pt. 2:
Never really noticed such things in prior episodes and i´m not a native english speaker but in your crawl text:

  • “…deeply into the force to urgently predict their enemy´s actions” shouldn´t it be “…predict their enemies actions” since you refer to a plural term and not a possessive one?
  • Same for “But the sith lord´s intentions…”, “…the sith lords intentions…”. If you intend to meant a singular person than “…sith lord´s intention…” would be right.

Overall “A strike at the heart” is well put together as Kalee said. Noticed the rouge frame, too.
Otherwise i don´t really have to criticise anything, great work Eddie!

Also i would change the order: “A strike at the heart” after “Lightsaber lost” because of the patience lesson ahsoka receives from another jedi master.

Lightsaber Lost:
I got the impression this episode is overall some kind of useless. It adds nothing despite the reason mentioned above.

Return of maul:
For me, quite perfect. The edited hint from yoda for the surpise visitor is a great idea, even the viewer have to listen and watch with attention to notice this, when Ventress suddenly appears.

General: How it´s looking regarding the credits theme? Any other thoughts for the opening theme from your end?
I find it important to finish the first episodes, because at the end you´ll satck up a pile of minor work that could´ve been finished long ago.

I’ve used Hybrid, and its an excellent program, but I prefer dmMediaConverter and Staxrip for ease of use. As for converting a blu-ray rip to Prores, I just use makemkv, switch the mkv container to mp4 using dmMediaConverter WITHOUT ANY RE-ENCODING, and export to Prores using Premiere.

Already got the new version, will check it later 😃

Yes, MakeMkv is immo my favourite, too. Especially for my 4k Blu-rays. dmMediaConverter i never heard off, but will check it out!

If you use Staxrip and want proper de-banding, you have to use the VS filters under the restoration category:
Restoration > RCR > Colorbanding > f3kdb

THANKS, was desperatly searching through the options 😄 Right now i´m experementing with the software “hybrid”, full command line ffmpeg is a thing i´m still not very used to and have a lot to learn.
