Is there a link to the Blu-ray version yet?
nope
Is there a link to the Blu-ray version yet?
nope
This edit synopsis sounds very intriguing and tempting, but for now i´ll wait on the new UHD release from scream factoy. In hope they deliver as promised (scan from the original negtaive print).
Regarding a potential two movie edit of season 2: I think it all depends on how the ahsoka, kenobi and boba series will interact with mando season 2, but it maybe is worth a shot.
I have to say after watchimg the new version of MALOVELENCE i´m quite happy how it played out. The musical transitions are now flawless, especially the ending, just smooth as it could get.
But your approved suggestions from vranir seem tempting. I would say, you decide if you want to take another edit endevour.
Just a fun fact: everytime, literally eveytime i just watch the whole credits for the sake of the musical composition:)
Malevolence is complete and rendering now! Gonna do a QC check, but I’ll have it out to you all soon.
This now runs to 30:04. There are about four 3-minute stretches unedited, but the rest is chopped to bits. So a huge amount of work has gone into making this not feel choppy. I think I’ve got it as good as I possibly can.
Will report for this, once it´s up.
For the time being, doesn´t this look beautiful^^

Thank you very much:) Looking forward to the updated EP 1
You’re welcome, glad you liked it so much!
JEDIT: updated the mockup again, now most of the cockpit has been restored.

Just amazing, it´s always fascinating to me what you guys are capable of.

The total write-off of the Razorcrest was an absolute pain. Including the repair trip to Nevarro completely derailed the story so it had to go. I then had to balance how damaged the Razorcrest got on arriving on Trask with the believability that a single Mon Cala could fully repair it. I thought a totally sea-logged ship was too much damage so I cut it. As for seeing the dripping crest in the background - I cut as much as I could and, again, if you hadn’t seen the full episode you probably wouldn’t realise that it was the Razorcrest in the background.
I certainly believe you 😃 And you made a good point regarding a viewer who never watched it and we watching it with more attention to detail. So it´s a fair change/compromise you´ve made.
So i´ve watched it today and have to say it´s near perfect execution, storywise and technically. Every choice smudger9 made, from my perspective, was right to tell the story of Din and Grogu to find the (a) jedi. Even if that meant, Ahsokas fight on corvus to liberate the village had to be cut. It doesn´t add anything to the story of grogu.
I loved the IMAX conversion idea when they´re fighting the krayt dragon, very neat!😃Some suspension of disbelief is needed after Din landed the razor crest on Trask (water splashing of it and algaes.
What i couldn´t identify which luke skywalker deepfake you used, smudger9? It´s certainly not the original but looks a little bit different to the one from shamook?
Do you intend to release a bluray version of episode 2?
Thanks for the review. The Luke Skywalker footage is actually the original footage. I tried the deep fakes but couldnt get the quality to match up, making them inferior.
The Blu-ray version and cover art will follow this weekend.
Oh well, nevertheless it looks kind of different (the original luke). Sad to hear it didn´t match up but ok. In the future i might upscale the two episodes for myself and than i´ll look into integrating shamooks luke (even than it might be impossible).
But as said, great work really. It was a great star wars story to watch:)
Hooray for the bluray^^

A REQUEST
This is a long way off, but now that I’m planning on incorporating Revenge of the Sith into my show, I’d better review some edited versions. So, if you guys have any recommendations for preferred edits, I’d like to hear them. I’ll gladly chop and change between versions, if necessary. Bear in mind, my priorities will be:
- Adhering to franchise canon as closely as possible (rather than bending to match the OT or PT specifically, for example)
- Compelling narratives (like Hal’s reordering of the events which lead to Anakin’s fall) which bend the plot without breaking it
- Characterisation in line with TCW as much as the PT
- A narrative which fits with TCW and the wider franchise, rather than anything too radical
- Attractive additions and cuts which enhance the enjoyment of the story
- 1080p+ video quality, including incorporated deleted scenes
Happy to review supercuts of ROTS/SOM too, if they’re more than just the two official release versions intercut chronologically.
Thanks in advance!
i´m a little confused: Will you incorporate actual visuals from ROTS into your quality cut?
I would be against that…
Didn´t notice any other issue with the new darf force rising episode, well done 😃
No tweaks folks? Good as-is?
I say, yes. No tweaks needed.
I agree, this is the way.
Noted, thanks djonesed and CMMAP. I’ll think further on these. What a tricky episode!
- Instead of opening with Republic ships taking fire, open with the speeder bikes. Your opening crawl already said that the Republic fleet had been forced to retreat to a medical station. If you want an establishing shot, maybe use one that only shows the Separatist ships in orbit?
This point raises some thoughts that are worth discussion.
Obviously a common rule of storytelling is ‘show, don’t tell’, and it’s one that Star Wars famously breaks with its opening crawls. In my edit, for reasons I’ve gone into extensively elsewhere, I need to rely on opening text for a lot of reasons, so I also have to break that rule - at least in a way that this franchise uniquely permits.
…But do we think that was unnecessary? …but do you think this was redundant? Showing the blockade above the planet would certainly follow naturally (if that footage exists), but would it be an improvement on showing the retreat so we can “feel” it more than just being told it happened?
I’m also interested in thoughts on the general case, here.
I can see your point about the establishing shot and agree with your intention (even if i like a opening shot with the speeder bikes) and i do think showing the retreat rather than only telling us is vital.
I watched your v2.0 of The New Padawan:
I liked the reworked episode very much with the exception:
As far as the suggestions from “vranir” go:
A well deserved break for you.
Dark Force Rising was EPIC!!! Two little things that bugged me though (I’m just being nitpicky):
The maximum quality was 720p. Is there a 1080p version?
The frame rate seemed off; it had a large, noticeable stutter every half second as if a 24fps source was being pushed into a 30fps container. It might just be my computer, but it doesn’t happen with any of the other episodes. Was it uploaded at 30fps or is there something wrong on my side and it’s playing correctly at 24fps but my computer is messing it up?
Keep up the work big man, I’m loving every episode and they’re put together better than most professionals. Cheers!
Did you played it through the google drive stream?
I´ve watched dark force rising v2.0 on my projector (downloaded it first)and didn´t noticed any stutter. But the experiences of others would be helpful to narrow it down.
I watched v2.0 of dark force rising: the polish nailed it for me. I even like the crawl intro, but if the other suggestion works better, why not.
Your two ideas regarding restructure are welcome. Especially for Ahsoka, as you mentioned yourself this way here absence for some episodes feels much more well rounded.
I wonder if you’ll pursue another full-length fan edit in the foreseeable future, Poppa? 😉
Three posts above yours
That’s far better now. Well done.
Can anyone give me a link please? 😏
You didn’t bother to read one page before, don’t be so lazy. Go to Adywans wordpress site.
You‘re just awesome. Hope the donation to you will be continue.
@adywan Can I have PMs to your edits?
Just google his edits/facebook and you will know where to get them.
Here’s a preview of TCW:R’s new franchise logos, borrowing content from both Mandalorian and Bad Batch.
I prioritised elements of TCW, then the prequel era, then the wider impact of TCW, and finally the wider Filoniverse.
I thought it was a nice touch to end on Vader.
You´d had me at “…utter bull****” 😄
Nice order for the franchise logo and vader as the end - just perfect.
