I thought ballsā purpose was to bring new life!
Iāll just happily remember TPM as the movie that got my dad to borrow Star Wars, Empire and Jedi on VHS from his friend. So I guess I first watched Star Wars about 20 years ago!
There isnāt any precedent as itās brand new. But I would never assume something on there is slated for physical release.

Just watched it, as a result of reading this thread.
Pretty intense movie. Almost disturbing.
But did you like it?
I wonder if there will ever be a sequel to Iron Giant.
I hope not. Itās perfect the way it is.
Does anyone know what year black and white was overtaken by color in Hollywood? I.e., what was the first year there were more color flicks than B&W?
Reading the making of TPM book, this is a direct quote:
Stuart Freebornās original design was modified only slightly to make Yoda appear appropriately younger.
Um⦠sure.
Seriously, what were they thinking??? Not that the CGI version looks particularly good.

I think we can all agree AOTC probably has the most issues. And while itās hard to pick THE worst scene, the one that drives me crazy is Padme (NOT a Jedi but a regular human-type character) drops from who knows how many feet in the air, lands on herā¦umā¦crotchā¦and without missing a beat, gives her new boyfriend a peck on the cheek.
Anakin subconciously cushioned her crotch with the Force
Racy. Canāt believe George was able to sneek that past the MPAA censors.
2009 is still a reasonable timeframe for film on this type of production, I would think.
According to IMDB, it was shot on 35mm and finished at a 2K DI.
I assume that means there is no āoriginal negativeā in the classic sense, since the DI serves the role of the assembled o-neg. Rather just rolls of disjointed camera negative in a box.
Correct me if Iām wrong.
Itās a 2K DI. Common practice would be to upscale. Theyād have to reassemble the camera negative and scan at 4K to go native. Plus the effects are all 2K anyway. The drab (not a criticism) color palette probably wonāt get that much of a boost from HDR.
Twilight Time just published their list of May limited edition titles. Iām intrigued by Morituri (1965) and Warlock (1959). Are either of these worth picking up?
I would guess an upscale so probably not worth the upgrade price.
Iām happy with my $4 ebay Blu
I donāt see how you canāt see it
Thatās what she said
The contention is dialogue in a Star Wars movie shouldnāt feel dated by earth standards. It took place in a galaxy far far away.
I understand that concept I just donāt understand how this dialogue is especially contemporary.
Probably because youāre young and donāt remember a time before it was normal to tell someone you were willing to hold.

Feather was not GLās original vision. Put there by accident.
Sy Snootles OOT design too.
whatās the difference?
3 way tie
āwho talks first me you whoā line stolen from Lost
yo mama joke
any scene with General Grevious
I actually like in indeference of the āwho talks firstā bit.
Re: Grevious: even the bit where Obi Wan shoots him in the lungs and they catch fire and the fire spreads to his eyes which explode? Thatās so cool, man.
Why would LF give that footage to CNN unless⦠UNLESS! ? ! ? !
Could it be?! Could they ⦠be transferring the GOUT⦠to a Blu-ray set ā¦as a bonus featureā¦
Lol. I doubt they would premier a new restoration of Star Wars on CNN! But why choose any transfer of the original cut over the SE if LF really believes in locking the OUT in the Disney Vault next to Song of the South for all eternity?
Sometimes I get the sense that some folks at LF are embarrassed by aspects of the SEs. This clip without the goofy dinos, that weird Frankenstein clip that was on SW.com for awhile that excised the 2011 version of Benās dragon call but kept the rest the same. It seems in PR focused areas they want to put their best foot forward and not have casual onlookers look and think it looks dumb.

I think itās the soundtrack version. Iāve read that there is no isolated version of the film recording in existence. Thereās a goofy recreation/remix of the film version on youtube thatās kind of fun though.
