Then STOP in the name of all that is good.
I take it you went on to show them the porn parody and lived to regret it.
I’ll never look at Jar Jar the same way again…

RE: the other examples of tinkering: That decision to re-do the fanfares is so weird, in retrospect. I don’t understand why they even tried it, or further, why they thought that edit was a good idea.
I think they had to because Fox was not involved in digital distribution.
I wouldn’t want any of the stars of the Marvel universe in Star Wars. I fear it would take me out of the movie if, say, Chris Pratt or Robert Downey Jr. jumped onto the screen.
It’s even worse than using the original poster for each movie
What? That’s what they should do!
Re the September 2019 blu ray (with Digital Code) and dvd releases for the ten main Star Wars films to date - with matching artwork…
To absolutely no one’s surprise, the new releases are just repackages of the existing releases, albeit with new disc and cover art. Some day.
Also…
‘From the Star Wars Home Video Library #221: All 20 Sept. 2019 Reissues’ - youtube video by NathanPButler:-

NathanPButler’s youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/user/ChronoRadio/videos - is well worth a watch for information on the various Star Wars releases down the years - including releases for non-film content such as Resistance, Rebels, Clone Wars and more - as well as a fair few rarities from around the world too…
How did they decide which lightsaber blades would extend beyond the borders, and which would be cut off? They’re not even consistent within posters, see AOTC!
it’s ironic SW went back to film once digital reached filmic quality
Perhaps digital has matched film in terms of perceived resolution, but this is not the same as quality. Whether you’re referring to quality as merit or quality as characteristic, IMO, digital lags behind film in the former, and is completely different in the latter.
That was just a placeholder image. People in the Netherlands have a free preview version of Disney Plus, and the thumbnail images are identical to the new Blu-ray covers.
Unless the theatricals are coming too, at a later date…
Me reading something into nothing:
So digital thumbnails are now these, but the teaser images of Disney+ show the theatrical poster for Star Wars ‘77… hm… hm…?

Why wasn’t there a huge announcement of this?
Because they’re just repackaged discs
still down… hmmmm
I think what’s becoming obvious is thst LF has a new transfer ready, and caps from it are leaking in media published by LF as that must be what’s available locally now for their editors. Excited to eventually see what the finished video product(s) entail(s)!
Who the heck has the bandwith for 4K streams? I live out in the sticks and 1080 is a crapshoot on any given day. Disney barely seems to care about their back catalog on physical media beyond their animated classics and Marvel flicks these days.
Yet I still don’t have The Black Cauldron on Blu-Ray 😦
10,000 Leagues did just come out as a Club Exclusive, though. So that’s something.
Lol. Just use poster art ffs.
Bill Hunt has a good explanation. Disney’s strategy has been to sell repackged BDs in advance of the 4k to clear out old stock. as with Marvel and Pixar
The box wasnt all that bad actually
I think it was cropped bc they figured the TBS version would be fine and they didnt double check.
Stupid thread.
That’s really uncalled for. Nobody is forcing you to post in here.
Actually in a way, someone is. Now if we want to keep up on this subject (which wad started in his thread), we have to engage with two separate threads.
Why is this a thread?
A rumor is a rumor. It can be trusted or not trusted. My point is I will not get hyped for anything until something is confirmed. ‘Rumor’ as far as I’m concerned means nothing because ‘Rumor of Original Trilogy reissue’ has been a headline that’s come out like once a year for like the last decade! Give a confirmation then you’ll have my attention.
The rumor isn’t OUT, it’s OT, to which I say, “Star Wars in 4K soon? No shit.”
the LoC doesn’t even have an original print on file
They actually have 2 original prints, according to the LOC website. One of the prints is “preservation material,” the other is a “reference print.”
Right. They have the original copyright deposits, but the National Film Registry doesn’t have the archival print it requested.
