Don’t forget Alien 4
Don’t forget Alien 4
Why would Disney and Fox executives be willing to discuss Legacy with Verta if they had no intention of ever releasing the non-SE versions of the films because of Lucas?
Where was this? I’m not saying it isn’t true, but I’d love to see where Verta said this.
“That’s not how X works” has made it into my everyday conversations, and will feature heavily in the ROT.
Considering Han Solo was never trained as a Jedi (and neither was Leia), how exactly does he know how the Force does or does not work?
Because he knows he can’t use it due to the fact he isn’t trained and neither is Fin?

A credible source familiar with the matter told me it’s a plot to enter his residence and steal and destroy his masters.
Though I did catch the part about Rey and think the criticism that the clanking metal was too loud to be a bit petty, I mean, that’s what metal parts do when they’re thrown on top of each other. And she had slid several stories down a rope. That will make noise too.

I’d like to know what you guys think!
tl;dw
Rather than engage in speculation, I went ahead and actually contacted Ben Fritz at the Wall Street Journal. He specifically said that George Lucas is the reason why Disney/Lucasfilm has no plans to restore the OOT.
Is that what his knowledgeable source told him? For some reason I suspect that if he had a good source for that, it would’ve been included in the article.
Aren’t channel misalignments a product of the Technicolor IB print, not the photography, though? So fixing that shouldn’t be at all controversial. Though I must say I’m not offended by fixing flickering etc. that may have been a product of the original photography.
I’d keep:
-The Windows in Cloud City too.
-The shots of Cloud City when Lando makes the announcement.
-Some of the CGI shots from the Battle of Yavin.
-The coloring of R2-D2 that was corrected from the blue screen shots.
-Jabba’s larger palace door.
-1997 ROTJ Special Edition Victory Celebration
-The explosion from the destruction of Alderaan.
-The touch-ups to Obi-Wan and Vader lightsaber battle in ANH.
-Han’s “It’s alright, I can see a lot better.” line.
-The newer establishing shot of Obi-Wan’s hut.
-The cleaning up of the Battle of Hoth and the Snowspeeders.
-C-3PO’s line about the tractor beams.
So, like, the DVDs?
Actually if it were recessive, allowing the Jedi to have children with non sensitives would increase the amount of force sensitivity out there over time by introducing the gene into the general pool. It’s just that not every child would be force sensitive.
If you limited who they could have kids with, you’d end up after several generations with a very unhealthy genetic pool.
Han seemed pretty shocked that Ben Kenobi hadn’t heard of the Falcon. I have no problem with it being a legend amongst smugglers.
While I agree I have no problem with the Falcon being famous, to be fair, feigned surprise could have been part of his sales pitch or ego.
Vader’s way of dealing with an Imperial officer he felt had failed him makes all the Force choking in ESB tame by comparison.
Pray tell? Or is there an EU spoiler policy :p

How much do you want to bet IKnowWhatYourSockDidLastSummer is the kid who posted that?

Any grammatical error or something?
no
Then I don’t know what the question mark is doing there.
I’m pretty sure it’s the ironic type of question mark directed at the intelligence of the person who asked the question.

Jeez, the prospect of a “fancy” type theater showing one of the most famous movies of all time on a highly publicized tour… digitally projected in 2K is, well, not only depressing, but embarrassing.
If there’s one thing that points to any optimism on this issue (and more specifically, the potential for the adoption of Legacy), it’s that within a few years a large subset of consumers are going to expect 4K even on home media, and Lucasfilm literally cannot provide it now, even for f**king cinemas.
Unless they’re some new transfer. Why would they have explicitly called it '97 otherwise?
With the brief exception of two Darth Lucas posts breaking things up…
Scrollin’ scrollin’ scrollin’…
Hey, someone else posted and broke things up a little.
If there’s a way I can shorten my post lengths by adding spoilers or what not like some forums allow, I’d love to make my posts a little smaller.
What?
For some strange reason I doubt a reputable movie theater would do that with prints loaned to it.

I’m not convinced one billboard in SF is going to sway Lucasfilm one way or the other. (Is it even anywhere near where Lucasfilm brass are sure to see it?) And 5k would go a lot farther on projects around here.
We would be better off flying over Skywalker Ranch, and releasing thousands of Sebastian Shaw Anakin figures on tiny parachutes. 😉
And the EU began in 1976? Splinter of the Mind’s Eye wasn’t even published until '78.
George would probably just melt them down in some perverse sadistic ritual.
Edit: actually, he’d probably chop off their heads and superglue Hayden heads on them.
Yeah, all those women in physically abusive relationships – I’m sure they’re just fine and dandy as sour candy as long as their partners are careful enough not to draw blood.
Believe it or not, that’s still the law in some countries.
Serious:
Black Rain ('89), First Blood ('82), Fatal Attraction ('87), Die Hard ('88)Funny:
Uncle Buck ('89), Caddyshack ('80), The Dream Team ('89), Major League ('89), Beverely Hills Cop ('84), Airplane ('80)A “classic” that I hate: The Breakfast Club ('85)
Out of curiosity…why do you hate the Breakfast Club?
It’s been so long since I watched it. I was still in high school, and didn’t relate in any way to them, and I thought it was boring. I know I’m the outlier. …
I agree. I didn’t understand why the special version would come in a paper case with the thickness of a greeting card.
Because it’s different enough for people to pay $5 extra for it/even be conned into buying multiple copies of the movie yet costs practically nothing to produce.
Look for Mike’s first post on page 77 of this thread… And then enjoy the emotional ride. 😃
Prophetic?
If this is handled well, it could end up great. Tarantino movie in space (without the violence, obviously). If it’s not, wel…
Don’t you mean excessive violence?
In my book, if there’s not blood, it’s not violence
Even early Tarantino wasn’t excessively violent like Kill Bill, Django, and The Hateful 8, which actually depict more blood and gore than is realistic for the given situations. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction had blood, sure, but it was realistic levels for the violence at hand. Star Wars is certainly violent, but not bloody, as most of the wounds are caused by lasers.
