Always loved this cameo
Always loved this cameo
Has anyone seen this?
Some related articles and extrapolation has been coming up recently in this thread.
…Gareth is quoted as saying that John Knoll said that …
Stopped reading due to Landis being absent from this chain of hearsay.
What’s weird is that I was reading through the most recent comments in this thread before asking when exactly that John Landis quote happened. Then I googled it and apparently it was September of last year, placing it roughly halfway between when Edwards would’ve watched the 4k restoration and right now.
In reply to the earlier comments about it being an upscale, it’s definitely not an upscale. Reliance Media Works had the OT listed on their website as “4k 16-bit” very briefly in July 2014 before it was quickly taken down. This would’ve been only a couple months after Edwards was hired. The brief clips on RMW’s demo reel show that it’s clearly from a fresh scan.
Are you suggesting Edwards told Landis, and Landis spilled the beans?
Do they know each other? I know they’ve both been critical of the revisionism in the past.
You also think Phantom Menace is the best of the prequels, which is awesome in my book.
That’s because it is.
Ren isn’t interesting
This is a complaint I haven’t heard very often. May I ask why you feel this way? I find him wanting to fulfill the “wishes” of his Grandfather while being pulled by the Light and possibly lunacy to be extremely compelling. And aside from that like that Kylo is a bit of a smartass and his temper was both frightening and humorous.
There are a few more things I could mention but I think he has a lot going on as a character. Certainly more than Vader in STAR WARS, Maul in TPM and Palpatine in general.
Yeah, hard to see this as a legitimate complaint, especially from someone who likes SW enough to be on this forum. Ren is by far the most complex Star Wars villain to date.
Did anyone get a good enough look at the recycled 77 footage to determine what master it came from?
When tarkin said, “you may fire when ready,” was that the motion capture, or a recycled clip from SW?
Movies should be watched in the order in which they were made.
Kind of a blanket statement there, one I disagree with. If I ever get a new life and have time to watch a ton of movies in a row, I’m going RO > ANH > ESB > ROTJ > TFA. I’m also going to watch the Hobbit trilogy first and the LOTR trilogy second.
Someone seeing something for the first time is a different situation, I’ll grant that.
Right. While I agree at this point, watching SW after RO works really well, I’m not sure I’d have gotten everything out of it had I not already been really familiar with SW. I would have enjoyed it, no doubt. But certain things, like fully appreciating the cameos of Vader, Tarkin, etc., I think require having seen at least SW if not the OT.
This is too much. Just watch in release order. Simple as that.
Minus the prequels…
Will anyone give a rat’s ass about the PT ten years from now if the ST concludes successfully?
If future SW fans watch the movies, they would more than likely watched the sequels first.
Why?
I just watched ATOC. I forgot how damn boring that movie is.
I only got despecialized this summer and watched it once. Yet, I could never justify going back to the official bd. Despecialized has all the noticeable AV quality of the BD, but none of the shit.
Why would anyone want to do a four dot ellipsis. . . .
Grammatically speaking, you should use a four dot at the end of a sentence. Technically, the first dot is a period, and the next three are the ellipse. I’m the middle of a sentence or after a fragment . . . only three are necessary. . . .
Exactly 24 hours until I see Rogue One. Just have to avoid spoilers until then…
JEDIT: Does it annoy anyone else on this forum when the markdown abbreviates 4-dot ellipsis into 3? I guess you could manually insert a space into it . . . .
Well, the correct way to enter an ellipses according to most style guides is with a full-width space between each period, so this seems an excellent solution. . . .
When doing a four-dot ellipses, the first one acts as the period for the sentence and should not be preceded by a space. It should look as above.
Hey, not right thread. Shouldn’t expect to see RO spoilers in a rebels thread
I would say it’s a bad business decision even it is a one screen theater.
Wait, Vader does something cool? I thought this was the no-spoiler thread 😛
Bumping this. Maybe I’m not searching for the right terms, but I can’t seem to find a definitive answer for how to make DVD-9 in HD starting with a BDMV file. Anyone have a good cheat sheet?
I’m going to watch Star Wars before going to RO mainly because I’m bringing someone who’s not that into SW and I want to have them freshly situated in the universe first. I’ll probably follow up RO with the rest of the OT just because I generally rewatch them around this time of year. Will probably throw in TFA too.
^Anthony Daniels sock confirmed.
Damn. Beat me to it
Oh God, it is legends canon. Why is that legends? Who thought that was a good idea?
If I got paid a dime every time I asked that question, I’d a billionaire ten times over.
Canadian billionaire? What’s that, like US$5?
I just bought mine directly from the theater website (cinemark in my case). Even sitting here ready to go on the dot, the seats I wanted sold before I could get through the process. And the site was running slow and freezing up. But I got my tickets. One row closer than I really wanted, but it should still be fine.
Gonna see it in cinemark “XD” (their in house competitor for liemax). It’s a very nice theater with reclining leather chairs, a giant screen, and good sound. It’s my favorite nearby theater and their presentation has been consistently good (especially compared to the local AMC, which has visible projector hotspots and often physical damage to the actual screen…)
If I like it, and have the opportunity I might try to see it in 15/70 or IMAX laser afterward. But I’m not as fussed as I was about seeing TFA in IMAX 15/70. That was a much bigger “event” film for me being the first true Star Wars sequel since '83 as well as having a scene shot with actual IMAX equipment.
But anyway, yay! Tickets for opening night! Hope I like it as much as I think I will!
I’m excited that my Cinemark will be having 2-D showings on the XD screen! For TFA, IIRC, they only had 3-D showings in there, and 3-D and corrective eyewear don’t mix.
For me the worst is the ones that used to need to be plugged in, in the EU. I imagine the cords could get in the way. Probably best for me is the double light saber in Episode 1. It’d be scary to handle but would be very intimidating too.
Likewise, I’d say the worst cell phones are the ones where you had to carry a giant shoulder bag battery pack around, and the best ones are modern smart phones.
No duh. If it were made of poo it’d be brown.
Wait, are you thinking of Police Academy?
