Something you all might enjoy... vintage style, custom made action figure cardbacks

Maybe in the kind gently world you are from Gaffer, that comes off as a complaint. But in the rough cut-throat world I am from, that sort of thing is an acceptance of fate.

Since you are all into mafia stuff, imagine a man with his feet in cement boots. He is about to be pushed off the dock. He already knows he is dead, he has accepted his fate, but he still thinks to himself, "once they toss me off the egde, maybe I can somehow climb back up." He knows it isn't going to happen, he knows he is already as good as dead. But just thinking that there might still be a possibility that he can save himself, makes it easier for him to accept his death.

But actually, Axia can have this thread back if he wants. People probably won't know what it is about now though...

Now I am starting to feel kind of badly...

I only made an exception this time because the original poster complained about it, and because the debate was just between the two of us, and nobody else seemed to give a damn about it.  So it just seemed pretty selfish to me.

Yeah, it was pretty selfish. What? Axia complained? I must have missed that post. Now I feel bad.

Hmm.  Good point.  You might make a good consigliere after all.  Gee, I hope I can reach my capos in time before they kill you.

No worries, I am sure I can more than handle whatever capos are working for you.

The "stay on topic" police annoy the hell out of me. I honestly think that most of the time they're trying to look all responsible so they can become a moderator someday. Not saying that's the case with you, Gaffer.

Or trying to look all responsible so they can become Don Alpha Male someday. Look here, both you and I disagree with Gaffer on his strict fascist "stay on topic" BS. Kind of shows he doesn't have all that many people agreeing with him. His social evidence of being alpha male looks pretty *caugh* weak! *caugh*. On the other hand, you both just agreed with my sentiments that we ought not to leave this fine thread. I feel my alpha maleness growing...

Nooooo! This is the perfect thread for this! Even the name of the thread is perfect! "Something you all might enjoy" technically none of this is off topic, because anyone might enjoy any of this stuff.

Eh? See! Man, Axia really did pic a perfect topic title. "Hmm, 'Something you all might enjoy' I'll check that one out." and BAM! They are hit with some of the most amazing discussion to go on in this place in a very long time.

Whooohoooo!!! In that case, my real name sounds absolutely, stunningly fantastic with "Don" attached!

Wow.  I really feel bad about that...

Pah! Alpha Male! Don! Yeah right! You are too soft to be taken seriously as such things! A true alpha male would forget peoples names, then tell them their name wasn't worth remembering while pissing in their drink and sleeping with their girlfriend, simultaneously.

My name is catchy! Well... it works anyway! I find coming up with user names to be a bit of a challenge. There is always so much pressure involved. It's like, alright, I am going to register at this forum! "User name" Oh dear, what do I want my user name to be? Can I come back to it later after I thought it over for a bit? No! You have to do it now! It is always the very first little box you have to fill in when registering. I honestly think it is way too important of a decision to rush through.

Anyway, my real life name is pretty sweet! Extremely catchy, and it sounds good with "Don" on the front. Oh wait, you probably know my real life name because I mailed you something before... that's not going to work then... damn!

Oh, I am more Don than you'll ever be! Unfortunately, I don't have a name that sounds good with "Don" in front of it.

Besides, you totally screwed things up! We were talking about pack mentallity and Alpha Males and you switched it all on us to mafia talk on us! You cannot even maintain order in and continuity in this two page discussion! Some Don/Alpha Male!

Oh, and C3PX, I'm proud to know that my signature line conjurs images of Carrie Fisher without underwear.  It feels like I'm performing a public service!

Picture of Carrie Fisher+name: "Gaffer Tape"+quote: "There is no lingerie in space"= Your very being (at this forum anyway) has "Carrie Fisher without underwear" written all over it.

EDIT: Oh, and to also keep it from looking like I'm helping to hijack your thread, I really like that Princess Leia and Bespin Luke designs, Axia.

See, Don Gaffer, you're already putting your tail between your legs and back peddling out of the situation. Alpha Male! Pah! Like a mob boss backing down and saying, "Officer, I wasn't responsible for robbing this bank. I was just watchin'."

Cinnamon roll hair buns and a blaster are going to hold up real well against a Kamehameha. *smirks*

You forgot to mention complete and total lack of underwear! Yeah right, like whatever the hell you just mentioned could resist young Carrie Fisher all underwearlessly in that clingy white robe! *smirks bigger*

You've never watched DBZ?!

Nope. I am a total DBZ virgin, never having felt the warm, hard dragon balls against my... naw, I haven't seen it. Just little clips and bits. I guess I did try to watch an episode once. And I actually own one of the games for the PS2 (buddy of mine gave it to me as a hand me down), which I have played a little bit and enjoyed (more because I get to beat things up than because I found the story interesting. At any rate, I had absolutely no idea you made a DBZ reference in that post, and that says alot I suppose.

Secret Star Wars Production Shooting in Hollywood - for Star Tours

Ah, glad to hear the great Bubba Fett is being added to this ride. It is just what the ride needed. Less Peewee Herman, and more Bubba Fett chasing you.

R.I.P. Star Tours. I loved you dearly, you will be missed. We've found a nice spot for you in the church yard right next to the pre-Jack Sparrow ridden Pirates of the Carribean ride.

That's right. Open it on Dagobah and walla

Wow, I think some bits inside my head just exploded! While we are at it, I think the Deathstar battle should take place at the beginning of the movie as well. It could start with the space battle, then Luke could got to Degobah, then they could go rescue Han, then wander back to Endor to hang out with the Ewokes.

Now excuse me, my hand is kind of hurting, so I think I will go cut it off, remove the part that aches, and try to reattach it somewhere else on my body. Wish me luck.

Well, we all know you are DF's Alpha Male at the very least. (I would post that picture of Darth Vader and your avatar posted over Padme's face that DF made, but I am too lazy to mess with it right now.)

I dunno Gaff, your name was definitely one of the first ones I thought of when considering who might be the potential Off-Topic Alpha Male, but I am not sure you fit all the criteria. You're pretty passive. And I am not sure how often people agree with you, mostly because you tend to be pretty neuteral, or to disagree gently. This isn't Alpha Male behavior. You may have a kick ass post count, but post counts are so late 1990's, they just don't mean all that much anymore. Remember Adam, Sir-Posts-A-Lot? Little cracker had a huge post count in a very short amount of time, but he was as low on the food chain as it got around here.

Nanner may have at one point been Alpha Male material (he sure held his own in the war against the orcs), but Nanner is washed up. He only pops in to say a sentence or two from time to time, but nothing like his old attention grabbing antics.

Yeah, Axia should ignore all the stuff about packs and popularity...

No! That was getting to be a really amusing conversation. We just need more participants to throw in their two cents. At least DF throws around amusing and off the wall discussion topics, rather than going around pissing down the place with negativity.

In that set up when Luke is saying "I can't do it alone" he is expressing doubts to Artoo over his ability to save everyone now that Leia has blown the plan rushing to save Han so Ben turns up to give him a bit of a pep talk but also to bring the story of his father's fall full circle.

The context changes the meaning of the line.

I don't think what you are talking about could every be done by any stretch of the imagination, but even if if could, wouldn't it just make more of a mess?

If you took Ben's telling Luke that Leia is his sister and placed it at the beginning of a movie, I guess you have to remove it from its rightful spot, to prevent redundancy. Since Ben has already confirmed that Vader is Luke's father and Leia is his sister, then Luke would have no reason to ask Yoda if Darth Vader was really his father, and Yoda's dying words "there is another Sky...walk...er" would be meaningless. In the attempt to fix some logical errors at the start of the film, you'd be bungling the entirety of the film and making some of the more meaningful moments less meaningful. Also, Threepio translates for Leia, so how could she already be capture by the time Luke decides to send the droids?

Help: looking for... The HD broadcasts
Time

Adywan has done more work than just SW:R. His AVCHD releases are not fan edits, but actual HD versions of the 04 SE. As Ash was explaining, ANH and ESB have been color corrected, ANH has had Jabba removed and Greedo shooting first, in an attempt to make it closer to the originals, but other than that, it is the SE. ESB has been modified to be closer to the 1997 SE. ROTJ is the unchanged DVD version, but from the HD broadcast.

So all changes made to these have been in the interest of restoring them to previous official versions of the films. Absolutely nothing like SW:R, which is a fanedit.
