You guys are right, there was a short of half assed introduction, but I didn't feel it was enough for new viewers. Also Serenity was completely different inside, that bugged me alot since I too watch it back to back with the TV series. And they crammed the whole River Tam mystery into a two hour movie, when it was obvious from the TV series that it would be a slowly unraveled side story. I think the Western idea was brilliant, and it was ashame they tossed it out for the film. Perhaps it wasnt that it was too over done in the first few episodes, but that it took me a time to get used to it. Too me at first it felt very exagerated and unbelievable, but over all it works. This show is another example of Fox screwing a show over. They didn't even show the pilot episode until the very end. It is like they wanted it to fail. This was the same way with Futurama, it seems they killed it on purpose too.
Oh, and one last thing I really liked about the show. The camera work, it was brilliant. I love the variation of static cameras in all the alliance scenes, and the more unstable hand cameras for all the other scenes.

I felt the first few episodes pushed the western aspect a little too far. The whole wild west thing on the outer colonies is a great idea, but at first it was too exagerated. After the first few episode I think they balanced it better, up until the whole whore house episode. That was painfully exagerated in my opinion, and that was probably the dumbest episode.
I liked the whole Chinese/English aspect. And the no aliens or robots. While watching the series I got this great urge to reinstall Escape Velocity: Override onto my computer (any Mac gamers here?).
Yeah, Fox kills the best shows. They were the ones who killed Futurama also. I think this could have evolved to be much more interesting. I am glade they were able to wrap it up with the film though. I think the film suffers from very little character introduction. You can tell they were aiming it at the fans of the series. Which is not a complaint, I like that for once a film was made with the fans in mind. Somebody could learn a lot from these guy. But in the end I think it probably hurt the movie as a whole as far as ticket sales and appealing to a wider audience.

WHOA!! Dude, this is the kind of thinking that gets people like Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin put into power.
I don't know everything about politics, but these guys seem kind of cool, sexing up interns and inventing the internet and all, I think I will vote for them.
I have no idea what totalitarianism is, but this guy looks kind of cool. Seems like a decent enough fellow, I think I will vote for him. After all, he was passing out free wennie wistles.

Yeah, I think I got too or three of those. I was feasting on fruitloops for a very long time. It was an exclusive offer, but just a short time later they released him in the regular action figure line with the slight variation of a straigtened arm rather than a slightly bent arm. That kind of ruined the exclusiveness of my small army of Hantroopers.

Now before you say "What the hell was the point of this topic?" I would say I am getting tired of circular political topics (thought I still find them entertaining for the most part) and all fifty of the game console threads and want to talk about something new.

So, no insanly hot women were interested in my naked college party. That is kind of a bumer. I am afraid this thread, no matter what potential it may have once had, is now doomed to run off the end of the topic list eventually. I really thought that nude party thing would go over better than it did. I guess we don't have enough ivy league college student members.

ahh yes and im not hating on consoles. ive stated many times before why they are inferior to me? noticed how i said to me and not to everyone.

And about the PS hating thing. It has nothing to do with being cool to hate PS. Just because a bunch of us are of the same opinion on this matter all the Sony fanboys get their panties in a knot. If Sony suddenly takes off and becomes a popular system then it is not going to hurt me. I really don't care, but because I make the prediction that I think it is in trouble you guys get all pissy and say it is only because I cannot afford it. If you like the PS3 then I am happy for you. I still like to look at the situation as a whole and to makes guesses as to what is going to happen. For the last several years this has been predictable. Sony would be at the top, followed by the Xbox, and Nintendo would hang in there because of fan loyalty and there licensed characters. This time things are different and the boxing match is getting exciting again. Just because I am not rooting for your favorite boxer doesn't mean he is going to loose, and it doesn't mean I only hate him because it is the cool thing to do. I take it the ones of you who are claiming we are only hating it because it is cool are still in High School perhaps? Well, once you get out of High School you do things not just because they are cool, but because they are reasonable or practical, or because they are what you want to do. You no longer go out and buy a $80 dollar pair of blue jeans because they will make you look cool. Now is the part where I remind you that a good number of us are not in High School any longer and don't really care if it is cool to hate Sony or not. I promise you, even if it was extremely uncool to hate Sony, I would still be of the same mindset. I really don't think Sony is going to do so well this round.

I am sorry it is such a sore spot for you, that is quite unfortunate. You see, a lot of us like to make predictions and see how far off we were. Ever made a prediction on a sporting event? You say you bet one team will win, even though the game has not begun yet thus you are basing your opinion on piss poor evidence. It is like that here. At least for my part this is how it is. I know you work at a game store, so I imagine you do get a lot of snotty little preteens saying things like "Sony sucks because it is not Nintendo" and non sense like that. But it is fun to discuss and speculate. Of course none of are feel we know the future, the whole fun of playing this game is trying to guess what the future has in store for these consoles.
To say, "I don't think the PS3 is going to do so well" doesn't need any proof or evidence. I could be wrong in this and it is nice if you come up and say, Oh I don't agree with you, it is going to do well becaused...
I know people are putting down how many consoles ship where and such stuff. The funny thing is that that does not even matter, by next year all of these console will still be on the market and nobody will be mentioning who shipped what the first weeks on the market.
"your simply stating a negative opinion on something just because you can."
Sounds like a personal issue to me. You are on a website that has a reputation of being a bunch of old SW fans who sit around and complain about George Lucas and the special editions. I don't think there is anything wrong with stating a negative opinion. Especially in a thread titled "ANIT-PS3 THREAD" in all caps. As I said about it being a personal issue, don't enter a play station bashing thread if you hate hearing play station bashing. Especially when you have to put up with it all day at work to begin with.

Taught to hate them. Gomer, that was a good post. You might not be too far from the truth there. It is very tragic if this is the case. And I know it is in some cases. I have seen it first hand and it is really unfortunate. I worked with a group of Afghanis for a few weeks back in 2004. Even then, some of the Americans would make jokes about getting blown up, or hoping they didn't crash a plane into our building if they got angry. These kinds of things aren't helpful to anybody. Not all middle easterns are terrorists or even Muslims. Not all Muslims are terrorists. They really need to work that one out. Treating all these people with hostility is not a good way to go about it. Fortunately it is not as embarrassingly bad as the treatment of Japanese after Pearl. I hope America does not breed hate for them as they have for us. Hopefully those idiots I worked with who made the stupid jokes were of a small minority of idiots. But you know what, I don't think it is, I think it is a danger and a possibility, but I don't thing it is quite as bad as it might feel. Even though we are at war with Iraq, I do not think it makes American hate Iraqis. I think Americans were generally pleased with the outcome of the elections in Iraq. That shows we have great interest in their success, if we hated them this would not be so. We hate terrorism, and we hate oppressive regimes. But I don't think we hate those who are victims of the two.
When we fought the Japanese they would crash their planes right into our ships. Why would they do this? Because they were taught there was an afterlife and they pleased their god by dying for him. The Muslims are in this same category, they KNOW they will get such a great reward if they day in the name of Allah. It is very unfortunate that these people are conditioned this way. The funny thing is that nobody would have defended the Japanese Emperor worship as a peaceful religion of integrity as they claim Islam to be. This is something to think about. Anyway, a foe of this sort is a huge threat to everybody. Because their intent is to destroy us, how can we make them change their mind? If you don't believe this is the case, then you might want to study Islam a little more and learn about what it teaches. As long as America is standing Muhammad isn't coming back. As long as Islam is not a world religion, Muhammad isn't coming back. They want him to return. That is their goal. If this comes as a shock to anybody, I suggest you study Islam. It might open your eyes. How can we make them change their minds? In Japan we make the emperor announce that he was not a god, that he was merely a man. That worked. But we can't do that this time. No matter what we do, no matter how many we kill it is going to be the same thing over and over. As long as there are people teaching Islam, there is always going to be this threat. And I don't see this ending in any of our lifetimes. Look at Judaism, it does not have these teachings. It doesn't teach them to conquer the world and force people to call on the name of Allah. Look at Christianity, the same thing, it doesn't tell you to force people to become Christians (if anyone brings up the crusades I am going to smack them, the crusades have nothing to do with Biblical Christian doctrine and everything to do with the need to get rid of a bunch of idle knights sitting around Europe like time bombs. They were sent on the Muslims to make them an 'SEP'. Somebody Else's Problem). Does anybody remember the Ottoman Empire? It ended less than 100 before any of us were born. That is interesting to think about. It seems like such an old world thing, yet it existed up until our nineteen hundreds. If they still had the power, it would still exist. If they ever get the chance, they will start this again. There is no, "Hitler only cared about Europe" nonsense here (Sorry Arnie, not meaning to pick on you) they want the world. But they have been reduced to a very small power. Very small, but very determined and thanks to our purchasing of oil, very rich. Like a cobra that has been bound they can't strike, but they can still spit venom in our eyes. They have been reduced from the conquests of old to terrorism. If you think that all they want to do is scare us, you are wrong. If they could get their hands on nuclear weapons, you can be sure they would launch them in a heartbeat. I have a feeling this is going to be a very unpopular post.
"Well especially the ones that remain civil."
Sorry when we don't. Without you this would not be much of a conversation. I can see you like to press buttons, so I guess you should expect what you get. But I don't think we are doing anybody any good when we fire insults at one another. I think it is best we all remain as civilized as possible and respect one another's opinions. I think your biggest problem right no Gomer, is that a lot of people are posting things they feel are pretty good points you just ignore them and sometimes turn around and ask the same question they just answered. Perhaps a "that is an interesting post" or a "I'll think about that" or "I see what you are saying, but I disagree because..." from time to time might earn you some more respect. At least make them feel that you are taking them seriously.

Whoa! That was perhaps the harshest come back imaginable. Especially toward somebody who proclaims their youth with every post. Humerously Gomer, you use it as an insult and you claim to be much older than that, yet your arguaments and your posts, while not over puncuated and full of caps, have yet to make you seem older than that. You should at least directly address others comments. Instead you just say there must have been a morally higher action to take than the one taken. I must say, I am very happy you have nothing to do with ruling the country. WESHALLPRESERVE is getting a little extreme posting real pictures of real disembodied heads, but I understand the point he is trying to make. You do understand that some of these people whose bodies are now short one head were not all militants? There have been reporters and missionaries and plenty of others. And that is only to mention the American ones, they do this to their own plenty. Does that not make you feel uneasy? You know if they could get their hands on you, they would love to saw your head off, film it and broadcast it to the world. They don't give a damn how soft hearted your are towards them. I can't say war is any beautiful or glorious thing, it is awful. It is more awful than you know. But sometimes there are no alternatives. These people will stop at nothing to achieve their means. NO, not al Muslims are bad, but I laugh at how the popular thing to do is to bash Christians and defent Muslims. I have studied their religion, and to say it is a religion of peace is laughable. The religion of Islam by its very nature is a huge threat to anybody who is not part of it. I have Islamic friends, good friends, but and this is not something I can talk about with them because it is a sore subject, but the truth is that they have rarely ever even opened their Qu'rans. It isn't even so much about what is written, though you certianly don't find much evidence for a peacful religion if you bother to read the thing. The biggest problem is the conditioning these people go through. The things they are taught. They are taught to hate. And that is the biggest problem. Not the religion so much, but people being conditioned to hate. What do you do with that? How do you teach somebody not to hate you, when they have practically been fed this hatred since infancy? There is no real great solution to the problem. Definately not a non violent one. I know you are questioning why we are there in the first place. Well, Saddam could have prevented this whole thing, but he would not give in. In the amount of time he was given he had plenty of places to hid a good amount of weapons. If he didn't have any why not give in right away? No, this is not a black and white subject. Don't ever mistake it for one. This is a VERY complicated mess. Thank God it is not your mess to deal with Gomer. In war usually nobody wins, in this case I think the Iraqi people win. Even if not all of this generation feels that way, the next one might.

It is my belief that Gomer has no idea how college really is, perhaps because he is still in High School, and that all his information comes from films like Animal House and other teen movies of the likes. However, he does go to some pretty interesting party where he sticks his head up others people asses. Those are the kind of party I like to stay away from. Not very sanitary.

Sorry Rikter, if I were in Europe now or heading that way anytime soon I would try to help you out, but as it is all I can give you is perhaps a tip on where to find them in the US. Do you have an import store ('World Market' is a commonly used name) anywhere near where you live? It seems you can find one in most areas, huge markup though. Jaffa Cakes are pretty popular, so chances are that if you can find such a store that it is going to carry Jaffa Cakes. They may cost twice the price that they would if you bought them in the UK, but sometimes it is worth it to try something new. I am not sure how you would go about finding the location of such a store the internet might have some sort of a directory. It would be listed in your local phone book, but I have no idea what it would be listed under.

Watched by millions of people who had no desire to look into the subject further, but rather to merely accept what they saw. There is another moon landing special produced by the BBC, it is quite good actually. It takes every one of the consiracy theorist claims and one by one debunks them, in the end rather than flat out saying the conspiracy theory is crap it invites the viewer to decide for themselves.

Yes, those conspiracy theorists are quite dumb. I remember hearing a story where some guy accosted Buzz Aldrin and accused him of being a fraud and a disgrace and then Aldrin punched him out--good job! As a photographer, the one that always gets me is the bit about "theres no stars!"--have you ever tried to photograph stars using a motion picture camera? Whenever you see a starscape in a movie, its a special effect, because stars are too dim to expose at 1/48th of a second, especially on 1960's speed stock. The other bit about the flag "flapping in the wind"--yes, all those brilliant CIA conspiracy guys forgot to close the studio doors and a massive gust was whipping through the soundstage (whilst also undisturbing the sand and spacesuite costumes). I think this is all given legitimacy by that dispicably manipulative Fox television special in the late 90's that was in favor of this conspiracy.
Yes, those conspiracy theorists are quite dumb. I remember hearing a story where some guy accosted Buzz Aldrin and accused him of being a fraud and a disgrace and then Aldrin punched him out--good job! Ah, that damn fox special. Awful. It showed during peak hours and brought so many people to the belief that the moon landing was bunk.
Ive have seen both documentries the Fox consipiracy programme is shown quite frequently on the Sci-Fi channel here in the UK usually before Capricorn One is shown, it makes alot of claims which could be very pursusive to some as it has very little rebuttal in favour of a non-consipiracy and when the one on the BBC was shown the claims are shown to be that just that with very little weight to them.
He he, on the Sci-fi channel. He he, right before Capricorn One. I love that. That is the funniest thing. Something that was filmed to be a serious documentary ends up playing frequently on the Sci-Fi channel. That is quite honestly right where it belongs. It is painful how easily convinced people are by that stupid thing. I bet you could get ten of your friends together (as long as they don't have much interest in this subject), show them this documentary, and when it is over to have them discuss it. I bet, as long as there isn't somebody there who knows about this subject and about all the errors in the arguments, that they will very likely lean in favor of the fake moon landings, or at least seriously consider it. Then show them the BBC's documentary and they will all feel like total gits for having taken the Fox special seriously. Especially if they are non American. Many American's still hold some pride that we have been to the moon, and might defend it. Though I am slowly loosing faith in my fellow country men with every "I am ASHAMED to be an American" I see typed.
Stupid Fox Special! Though I will admit, it is a beautifully filmed work of fiction. It is very effective at its intended purpose.
