Seal clubbing is a very real thing, there is no reason to assume it is fake. Come on, we see dead cats on the road everyday. This shouldn't be that offensive, I don't find it funny either though. However after reading your post it is funny to think about some idiot accidently hitting a cat, then chuckling to himself, pulling over and making a sign, then driving away.

10 seconds less.

There we have it, I would last 20 seconds with a foreskin. This is the creepiest fucking conversation I've ever been involved in.

From now on I'm demanding that you do not shave or wear deodorant. Your ears must remain fully-waxed from here on out as well. This is what nature has intended for our species Arnie, you out-of-control, unclean cave dweller.

Ah, but you see, ear wax and hair are things that grow back and do not involve bleeding when cut or removed. The foreskin removal involves a good deal of bleeding (though not so much with modern technology).

In this kind of debate everybody takes the side of what they have. You don't have circumcised guys woeing the day they lost their foreskin. The penis is a very sensitive subject for most guys, so nobody is going to admit to theirs being inferior. And inferiority is not the issue, the issue is why the hell do Americans still practice this? So far the best thing I have heard is the masturbation thing. It makes sense considering the way America has been in the past. But the modern world practically shuns the US' past, so why is this still so common? Especially if it was for that reason, when sexuality is considered healthy in today's society why would we still practice something that is a determent to manual sexual stimulation? I am not saying that is why it was done, but it makes sense.

Here are some of the general things I have been hearing, it smells and it is high matenence. I am not sure where circumcised guys come up with these things, but I have never felt there being a matenence issue, if you mean bathing, I thought circumcised guys did that too. I am not going to cut off the ends of my fingers because I feel it is too much work to wash my hands. And about the smell? What is to make them smellier than a circumcised one? I can see this being an issue if you never take a bath, but this is true for every external body part. I am not going to lop off my feet because they smell bad when I don't take a bath for a week.

Yes! Finally a European. Yes Arnie. In America they cut the foreskin off of almost every boy. It is the parents decision, so they choose if they want it done or not, but the vast majority are (at least in the recent past this was true). It is a very common practice in the US.

I was born in America within the 70s and 80s, but for some reason was not circumcised. My dad was suppose to take me and he made it all the way to the hospital, but for some reason that he has never explained, he didn't have it done. My mom was upset because she was afraid it would always be getting infected (never had that problem in the slightest). Circumcised guys always say they are happy they are cut because they don't want to worry about maintenance, but I have never had any trouble, and any of my European buddies always laugh when they hear American guys say this. In the end it is a cultural thing I guess. But the question is why is it part of American culture?

Cassidy said: "Honestly, it's a practice dating back centuries and most kids (who I assume make up the demographic here) born in the 70's and 80's were circumcised.

It wasn't until it became unfashionable with all this pseudo hippy bullshit parenting in the 90's that the practice started being frowned upon. Personally, I'm just glad I don't have to worry about...uh...maintenance."

Hmm, so is this not as common in America anymore? I thought most kids were still circumcised. I have never heard of the pseudo hippy movement on circumcision, the whole idea is never something I thought about much until I lived in Europe, then I started to think how odd it was that Americans continue this ancient religious practice when at the same time they claim to be the most medically advanced society in the world (and no doubt they are). There is the argument that it is for hygienic reasons, but that really doesn't stand up that well. Especially in a country where taking a bath/shower everyday is common practice.

Indiana Jones IV

I love Duel, too many people find it too boring to sit through, which is sad and unfortunate. Honestly by the time you get to the end ever second was worth it. Duel isn't a film, it is an experience

Good point about trilogies. Seriously I would have loved for there to have been a good number of Indiana Jones movies. I am sorry they stopped at three, I would have been in line at the cinema for as many Indy movies as they would be willing to throw at us. But that isn't what happened. They made three and for as long as I can remember there has been a rumor of a fourth. I guess we all kind of gave up on it, then we saw TPM and decided maybe it is best a fourth Indy never happened. I guess the PT just has us all concerned about what this may end up being. Maybe we shouldn't be using the PT as our standard. There is no reason Indy 4 can't be a good movie. While I don't agree that ol' Steven knows no wrong when it comes to movies, I have not personally been a fan of his recent stuff, there is no reason Indy 4 automatically has to suck or even to be the blacksheep of the Indy movies. Thanks Cassidy, you got me looking on the bright side of this.

Ever heard of a Spielberg film called Duel? Personally I loved it, but plenty of people have described that film as shit. Yes, even worse than Hook. Anybody else seen Duel?

I think by making a fourth Indy movie they are killing the balance. The three movies are great, the second one could be better, but it is enjoyable enough. It is weird to think it will no longer be a trilogy, since that is what it has been for so long. Also Ford it looking a little old. My general reflex about the idea of a fourth Indiana Jones is "NO!" but I think it will be one worth hitting the cinema for. If it sucks just don't add it to your collection. As long as the other three are still around...

You beat Vaati on your first try? Wow. And Zelda 2---That's one hard game. Well, the fact that it is hard doesnt' really bother me. I just hate that if you die, you have to start back at the Ancient Zelda shrine. So frikkin' stupid. I'd love to see a Metroid: Zero Mission style remake, that's still difficult, but still uses modern design principles.

For the sake of not loosing hours of your life, I would recommend using a game genie with the infinite lives code. I normally would not recommend using a gamegenie on anything, but for Zelda II the infinite lives code does little to help you or make the game any easier other than making it so you do not have to restart at that damn shrine over and over and over and over again, the game is still very difficult. If you play it through an emulator most of them have a built in game genie function. For people who are not going to beat this game any other way, I beseech you to play it this way, then at least you will have the thrill of seeing the whole game through.

As for beating Vaati on the first try, are you sure it was anything? All you had to do was dodge him and figure out how to hurt him. The first round against him I though was the very end. I came in charged up with a couple of bottles of fairies. It wasn't too hard, but I really thought it was the end and I only had half my hearts left by the time it was over. Then on round two all you had to do was flip his arms as soon as they came out of the ground, shrink and avoid getting hit by the little eye balls. That was probably the hardest part. Then the four eyes things, that was time consuming, but easy to dodge his attacks. Then round three was a joke. He just bounced around. You could break open the purple things to get hearts and arrows and take all the time to beat it you needed. I guess it would be hard if you tried to rush through it, but if you take your time all his attacks are very easy to avoid.

I started playing Oracle of Seasons. So far I am really enjoying it. I am only on the third dungeon and I was noticing how much more difficult the puzzles are than Minish Cap's. You said Seasons was the one that was lite on the puzzles, in that case I think I am really going to enjoy Ages.

I have to agree with some here that it is a slightly upsetting image. Expecially since we can all imagine what the next moment will look like. I think an image of a guy with blood on his jacket about to club a chicken would hold the same unsettling effect, and this is coming from a guy who would watch headless chickens run around bleeding to death when he was in his developmental childhood years. If the guy didn't have blood spattered on his jacket, and if he was pointing a gun at the chicken, or getting ready to behead it with an axe, the image would affect me very differently. I am not trying to say it would be better if he shot the thing rather than clubbing it, I am not saying anything really. I am just pondering the phycological affect an image like that has on us, and how different ones of us react differently than others. Kind of reminds me of PKD's Do Androids Dream

Its the mama seals choice! What about the baby seal? Doesn't it get a choice? If that baby seal had been aborted (I agree with Starkiller, no so sure it is a baby) then he wouldn't have been around to get clubbed, which caused so many to get bent out of shape in the first place (I love Luke's logic! I swear it is by far the best I have ever heard. I was ROTFL when she wrote "you must be in highschool"). I mean, because seals are so much more animal than than chickens, it isn't even comparable! I like how human consumption makes it more forgiveable than external human usage. I am afraid we use animal parts for a lot more than just eating, and that includes everybody, even if you don't know it (unless you are obessed with not harming animals, then you might know what to avoid.

I still think the Thrawn trilogy is much better than the PT. I really like some EU things, but most authors, the vast majority I feel, really make a mess. Zahn is one who really had the SW feel for his books. Even the way they flip from scene to scene is very Star Wars-ish. I liked a good deal of SOTE also, though I know a lot of people hate it. Thrawn was a really fascinating character, so it is no surprise to me if other writers included him in their stories.

I have a new (sometimes) controversial topic.

Circumcision: Barbaric genital mutilation or necessary medical intervention?

I really don't see any reason why we should cut the skin off our child's penis just for ascetics. I know a lot of people argue that it is to avoid infections, but if you ask anyone who has a foreskin they will very likely tell you that they have never had any problems with infections. Many European countries do not practice circumcision (correct me if I am wrong on this), most other countries who do, do it for religious reasons, Americans are the only ones who seem to hold to it so tightly for no explainable reason.

SMB2 (All-Stars): Beat it today

Zelda II is the coolest game to beat, but only because hardly anyone has done so. Once you beat it you feel like you can do anything. It is actually not a bad game, as far as NES games go I would rate it very highly. I think the reason most people do not like it is because it is so hard and they can't get anywhere. It is not until further into the game and start learning spells that it becomes really fun. Super Mario Bros. 2 was once one of my favorite games. It is another one that it seems like very few people play all the way through. Compared to the other Mario games it is a nice change of pace (mostly because it was not originally a Mario game).

I beat Minish Cap on Saturday. I couldn't believe it was so short. I thought it would be like Link's Awakening and throw another chunk of dungeons at me after I beat the first four. Instead it ended up only have five dungeon and then the final. The fight with Vaati at the end was very stupid, he doesn't even try to kill you I beat him the last two times with less than half my hearts and on my first try. Over all the game was really fun, but too easy and too short. I really enjoyed the graphics, really reminded me of the good ol' SNES days. Rob, I don't even want to think about the types a services you might possibly be tipping for.

Tiptup, the whole pulled tips thing is getting pretty common anymore. I think it is retarded. It completely defeats the whole point of tipping. You can have a truly awful waiter and he gets as much in tips as the most polite of waiters. This type of thing encourages crappy waiting.

My wife was in New York last month and went out to eat with her sister at a Japanese restaurant. She said the service wasn't bad, but it wasn't the greatest. When they got they got the bill it already had a 20% tip added right into the price. I think forced tipping like that also defeats the purpose of tipping. You don't even have to do a good job and you still get a 20% tip.

Marvel's Civil War
Time
Civil War sounds awsome from what I have heard about it. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to read it. If I get the chance I certainly will, and it will be the first time reading comic books in nearly ten years for me. I have a buddy who is big into comics and is always telling me how great Civil War is. It never really interested me much until he told me about Spiderman's big reveal, since then I have had great interest. Unfortunately he doesn't let human hands come in contact with his comic books, so there is no chance he will let me read his.

Movie Help Needed
Time
The weekend is mostly over now, so it is probably too late for this, but I just watched The Island last night, and was extremely impressed. Very rare for a modern day Hollywood flick. In the middle it got bogged down with some unnecessary elaborate and unbelieveable action scenes which I felt dumbed down the movie quite a lot, but the vast majority of the film was brilliant. This is one of those rare films that will still be worth watching fifty years from now.

Recreational drug use
Time
I in no way condone drug usage. It is very foolish and self-destructive. But I think there is a lot in the whole forbidden fruit thing ADM mentioned. When you tell someone they can't have something, it becomes even more desirable. If drugs were legalized, it is very likely a lot less people would be inclined to start using them in the first place. Of course there is no way to know what exactly would happen if they were legalized, one thing is sure, you would have a lot less illegal drug traffic and everything else that goes with it. The market would crash the second Wal-Mart added them next to their tocacco section.
