Why couldn't they put it on the standard release? Because they wanted to charge more for it, and people don't want to pay more for a set that contains the same amount of disc as the cheaper edition. Also it keeps them from having to master a special edition disc with the theatrical and bonus versions, and a non special disc containing the theatrical. All about money Moth3r, is that really beyond you?

I too would be very interested in seeing that scene. Is there still a live link anywhere?

I refuse to believe this will have aliens in it. The producer said, "The theory is they are shaped by higher powers or alien powers or came from another world, or an ancient Mayan civilization had the powers". This doesn't have to mean they are aliens. He also mentioned the possibility of higher powers or an ancient Mayan civilization. The "higher powers" part would be more in tune with Temple of Doom. Spielberg is involved, I must have more faith in Mr. Spielberg than that... surely it cannot be as bad as it sounds. One final bad Indiana Jones movie could taint the series, but not ruin it, this whole alien thing on the other hand has a massive potential for destruction of credibility.

Maybe they will attempt to discredit the religious artifacts that showed up in the previous two films, by saying that the Ark of the Covenant and its power were not from God but from aliens, and the healing power of the Holy Grail was simply more alien technology. That is why they are in the warehouse searching for the Ark, so they can use it for clues to find the alien colonies on earth from which these "magical" artifacts came from. Perhaps this film will provide a sci-fi rationalization of the supernatural events of the previous three films. But I am pretty sure this is nowhere near, I honestly can't believe it would sink that far. Perhaps if George had complete creative control, but as it is he has plenty of people to keep him in check. I just hope in the future I will be able to admit to liking the Indiana Jones movies without being snickered at. Anybody else remember the days when you could tell somebody that Star Wars is a cool movie without having them roll their eyes at you?

EDIT: Pretty sure that "speculations or major spoilers?" link RRS posted is completely made up.

We don't know that the plot will include aliens. It seems people are infering that due to the shape of the skull, but that would be a huge leap from the Indiana Jones style that is known and loved. For all we know it is just a stylized weird looking skull. I liked that somebody else mentioned that the skull had a weird Elton John thing going on, it reminded me of Elton John as well.

Wow, I am pretty sure Kenner had a ghost from its Ghostbusters line of action figures that looked exactly like that thing. Heh heh, any slight modicum of anticipation I may have been feeling for this movie is effectively gone now. And before anyone bashes me for judging a movie by its skull, I wasn't really much looking forward to this in the first place, and with every picture from the filming of this that I have seen I have become less and less interested. The skull was simply just the final thin thread of interest breaking under the weight of my disinterest. If I had been truely excited about this film I am sure I wouldn't let something like that skull ruin it for me.

If it gets resolved soon, there is a pretty good chance they could start filming Lost again right away without much of a gap between episodes 8 and 9. Everybody is out of work with nothing to do at the moment, it is in everyones best interest to hit the ground running. A few of the actors have said that if the strike is resolved early in Feburary then there is no reason not to start filming again.

I would guess Sean is either ninteen or twenty, that would be about the right age for a first or second year college student. Also I would guess that his 2,000 dollar debt has something to do with his new Apple computer and/or school loans. 2,000 dollars isn't that far in dept, I have known people the same age or younger than Sean with a lot worse. Getting a computer on credit with no interest for so many months or something like that is okay on rare occasions and as long as you are sure you can make the payments. But a lot of people end up spending so much money that they don't have by buying everything with credit and then end up making tiny payments on it for years to come, when this happens that computer can end up costing you money even after it is obsolete, broken, and sold for parts on ebay.

EDIT: D'oh, Sean replied during the time it took me to write this.

Remember when.....

Remember the time we were invaded by a small army of orcs? Or the time Ingosuck's kept coming back as different people.

Yeah, I remember the baby seal pic Sean. Everyone got offended, then we had this absurd debate as to whether or not animal life was as valuable as valuable human life and then I lost all faith in mankind and realized that the Planet of the Apes is a really plausible scenario, only it would not happen as it happened in the films, but rather it would happen because we one day decide monkeys are more valuable than humans ands start putting their wellbeing above our own.

You think the strike has eight weeks left? It has already been a three month long strike, that would put her up to five months. Nearly half a year. I am expecting it to be over within the next week. But you never know.

Peter Jackson evidently IS returning for The Hobbit...sort of...
Time
Since Jackson is still involved, and since The Lord of the Rings films were as successful as they were, I highly doubt they will drag out too many details of the book. Rather, I fully expect them to add a ton of stuff. So, is there any information on who will be starring in this? I certianly hope we keep the same actors from the LOTR films. If they don't then it could still be a good movie, but it would not fit as a proper prequel to the LOTR movies.

Wow, there are a lot of spoilers out there for this season already. I haven't looked at them myself, but it seems like you can find information on most major plot twists. It looks like there are a lot of ticked off workers (caterers, set builders, etc.) who ran out of work prematurely due to the writer's strike and don't feel any shame in sharing sworn secrets, even if they were in their contract. After the leak of last seasons finale plot twists, they said they are going to tighten up security so that nothing gets out. They also said they would be given a lot of misdirections, and leaking "spoilers" that were 100% fake. I wonder if the vast quantity of spoilers out there right now are intentional fake spoilers, or if the writers strike and pissed off laid off workers has foiled the whole plan. I honestly don't remember there being so many spoilers floating around during season three.

I am pretty sure The Hobbit is going to be slpit in two. I really don't think there is enough material there for two movies, but they make twice as much money that way. If they are going to do The Hobbit as one film and something else as the other, they really don't have much to go by as far as completed Tolkien material goes. They might make something up on their own, perhaps they could take ideas from the Silmarillion and other volumes of incompleted Tolien material and merge them into a working story. But I really don't think that is the case. I suppose they could also pull something together from Tolkien's other children's stories, but non of them actually take place in Middle-Earth. No, I am pretty sure The Hobbit will be in two parts, and with a lot of added material. Though if it turns out to be just one film, and the other is some hodgepodge they manage to cook up I will be much happier, because then The Hobbit comes out and I won't have to be waiting another year for the second half or the sequel. I couldn't care less about something they throw together themselves.

Also, I am pretty sure they do not have the film rights to do the Silmarillion or any other of Tolkiens stuff. So this really does leave us with two halves a Hobbit or something they make up on their own. Perhaps since they already own the rights to The Lord of the Rings, they could adapt the appendix of the book into a movie of its own.

I am using IE7 and I can get it. Arnie is not in the UK either, so I suppose that could still have some effect, but not that likely.

Well, I searched google for the video and found numerous links to it, but they all lead back to the same page silverwook linked to. Anyway, it wasn't that huge of a deal, just a guy who has a room in his basement full of all his Star Wars stuff. His wife complains because she feels that he spends more time in his Star Wars room with his collection than he does with her. She called Dr. Phil (not sure if you know who he is, he is a fake TV psychologist who has his own show where people come on and talk about there problems and he helps them work it out while cracking a lot of dry jokes and making the audience laugh.) In the video they mention going on the Dr. Phil show, and the guy says that he was nervous and thought Phil would tear him apart, but he ended up taking his side and after it was over Phil bent over and told him that he had a really cool Stormtrooper costume (or something to that effect). Know you know as much as we do I think. Did I leave anything out anybody?

Wow Paul, I really like the GTA style covers. Keep up the good work. I love the ANH one, and the right side of the ESB one looks fantastic, but the panels with Leia and Vader on the middle and lower left side doesn't quite fit the cartoony GTA style IMHO. The ANH one is spot on though. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for ROTJ. Good luck with these. Are you planing on doing the prequels too? Again, nice work.

Dude! All he did was post links to a bunch of articles, he didn't say anything against you, he didn't even really say anything on the matter at all. Even if you feel that he purposely chose links that support the idea of Will Smith being a Scientologist, so what? You yourself even said that non of the articles said anything differently than you did, so why should you be upset if all he did was post articles that agreed with you? I don't know man, but this is kind of getting ridiculous. And now we are all at risk of having to suffer through another of ADM's ridiculous "LJ is gay and wants to have sex with me" diatribes.

I usually steer clear of spoilers, I just enjoy watching it a lot more than reading someones description of it. However, after all these months of waiting last nights episode just didn't quite do it for my wife, and she asked me if I could find a brief description of the next few episodes just to give her an idea of what the season would be like, and I ended up stumbling across a full episode description for next week. Since my wife was bend on reading it I decided I might as well read it also. So yeah, I spoiled the next episode for myself, though I am usually anti-spoiler.

Yeah, go watch the mobisodes. There are thirteen of them and they are only about 2 minutes each, so you don't have to dedicate a whole lot of time to them. Like I said, my favorite part was hearing Dr. Art's back story. They pretty much feel like deleted scenes, only they were all recorded recently. If you know where to look you can find all of them in avi format in one very practical little rar file. Alternatively abc.com has them, but you'll have to suffer through commercials there.

Even if that show didn't seem incredibly lame, after being tortured though an advertisment for it EVERY SINGLE commercial break, I wouldn't have dreamed of considering leaving my TV on for a second longer after the promo for next weeks ep was over. Anyway, you can simply see the Oceanic ad on youtube. You have got to love youtube.

Next weeks episode will tie in pretty closely (sort of) with the find815.com alternative reality game. I am looking forward to being able to discuss it then, but for now I will hold my tongue so as not to spoil the next ep.

On top of find815.com, another promotional thing ABC has been pushing are the Lost: Missing Pieces Mobisodes, which could be downloaded onto your cell phone or watched at abc.com. I was never really that interested in them but I watched them a few days ago. Anybody else see any of them? They are mostly just pointless added bits fitting into random spots within the Lost timeline (for example, one is a conversation Juliet has with Micheal during the time he got captured while he was searching for Walt. Another one is where Juliet has a conversation with Ben concerning Walt and his "disturbing" abilities).

Like I said, most of them were pointless and did not add anything to the story line. The one that stood out to me as amusing was the one where old Doc Artz (the amazing exploding dynamite man) explains what he was doing in Australia.

The one that stood out to me as really odd, a little lame, and probably having something to do with the events Hurley witnessed/imagined regarding Jacob's cabin, was the 13th mobisode where Jack's dad meets Vincint the dog wondering through the jungle and asks him to go wake his son up because he has a lot of work to do. The mobisode ends with the opening of the pilot. Taking the mobisode and rocking chair thing into account, it seems they are going to dive a bit deeper this season into the whole mystery of the missing body of the late Dr. Christen Sheperd. Tiptup, let's see 'em rationalize this one.

Love me...love my Star Wars obsession?

Wow! I was a loser (I say that in the nicest meaning of the word) enough to have Star Wars posters on my walls up until sometime during my first highschool years. It used to be you could not look any direction in my room with out seeing those two words. This was back before the existence of a single prequel and before DVD had taken off enough for it to matter that the OOT was no longer available. All was well with SW fandom and the SW universe in those days, the biggest complaint from anybody was the then already ridiculous quantity of SW novels filling the bookstore shelves (little did we know...). In other words, it was a time of peace, and there was nothing to be ashamed about with the current state of things, other than the fact that SW fans were considered nerds back in those days (now a days I think "pre-teen" is the concept that comes to mind when the common person thinks of SW fans. Phew, thank God we shook the nerd stigma!). Anyway, reading this thread I have just realized that through out my entire home you cannot find that word displayed anywhere other than on three different books on my bookshelf, my original trilogy DVDs on my DVD rack, and last but not least, my NES cartrige or Star Wars sitting proudly on the shelf next to my other cartridges.

You'd think I'd still have at least a figurine or something displayed on my desk, a model ship, or some sort of reference somewhere in my home to remind me of my childhood obsession. That is how far it has fallen for me I guess. I went from the kid with Ewoks on his bed, three different sets of Star Wars sheets, posters and ship blueprints on my walls, and SW figures and models displayed on every possible surface, to the point of having all that stuff boxed up in storage where I have not seen it for years and would do little more than shrug if it were all burned up or stolen.

However, at the end of the day I can honestly say I have not had one single fight with my wife or any other girl over Star Wars. Though I am not quite so sure how she will feel when I insist that our first babies first toy be a plush Yoda... but if it comes to a fight over that, it will be a fight worth having!
