Why was his vote invalidated? He clearly voted "yay" or "nay".

I must invalidate your vote. Yea or nay are the only answers that one can vote on this ballot. Just like a public question on real ballot, there is only yes or no, not a "maybe" or a "do whatever you think best" answer. Sorry.

If hearing other people's perspectives gets your guts twisted in knots, if you grow uncomfortable with having your own perspectives challenged, then I would have to strongly recommend you stay away from political discussion (if this, then "nay"). However, if like me you get a little thrill from having your understanding of things shaken and picked apart, and enjoy taking the time to carefully mull over the pieces and try to put them back together again, even if that means in a significantly different shape, then do not even consider giving it up! (if this, then "yay")
Conditional yays and nays don't count?

You might as well be talking about the sex lives of celebrities or sport or the weather you'd have just as much impact.
...
Political punditry amateur or professional is just monkey noise, sometimes funny to listen to and even to imitate but you really shouldn't take it too seriously.
Hmm, I must respectfully disagree with both of these things. Sure it is easy to get into petty arguments and feel the need to convince others of your views, which is pretty fruitless. But I think discussions of political and social views can be immensely beneficial. To write it off as "monkey noise" or equate it to celebrity sex lives seems a little close minded and absurd. It isn't about making an impact on anyone or anything but yourself.
Life's kind of a funny thing. It is as if we are a bunch of squirrels with our eyes on one single acorn up in a tree. Some of the squirrels are in the branches above it, and some are on the ground below it, some are really close to it, and some quite far away. While one far away squirrel may say, "That acorn is huge!" a squirrel right up next to it may think, "That acorn is rather tiny." A squirrel on the ground might think, "That thing sure is high up in that tree" a squirrel on the branches above it may be thinking, "I wonder if it is really worth going all the way down there for?"
We are all looking at the same things, but from difference perspectives. If we close our eyes and choose not to listen to the "monkey noise" of others, then our own perspective is all we can ever see, and by their very nature, our own perspectives are doomed to remains incredibly tiny.
The reason why I enjoy political discussion is because I am obsessed with trying to see things through the eyes of as many people as possible, to see the world from as many angles as possible. During my discussions with Warb, I have to say I have learned a lot. Nothing extremely life changing, but I have been given the opportunity to, in some very small way, see the way things look from the angle he is standing at, which is very different from my own. With every view point of Warb's I hear and am able to understand, my perspective grows slightly larger. I have been given that same opportunity through ADM and many of the others who had at one point frequented this thread, and for that, I am extremely grateful to them. I can honestly say that many of them have gotten me to think outside of my own limited bubble of perspective that I live in, and in multiple cases, after considering their views and takes on things, I have actually come to alter mine. Through these kinds of discussions on this forum, as well as with people in person, I feel my own person perspective grows much larger than it otherwise could be. I have never been interested in sports or some celebrity's lousy sex life, but I could hardly imagine a scenario where jabbering on about that kind of BS could be in the least half as beneficial as discussions about things that actually matter in this world.
Monkey noise indeed.
Sorry, but I cannot give a yay or nay answer either. It is all about what you can personally handle, Warb. If hearing other people's perspectives gets your guts twisted in knots, if you grow uncomfortable with having your own perspectives challenged, then I would have to strongly recommend you stay away from political discussion (if this, then "nay"). However, if like me you get a little thrill from having you understanding of things shaken and picked apart, and enjoy taking the time to carefully mull over the pieces and try to put them back together again, even if that means in a significantly different shape, then do not even consider giving it up! (if this, then "yay")

Probably why she can't get into BioShock either.
Dude, Little Sisters are NOT evil! That are awesome, adorable, and sweet. They are hard little workers just carrying out the tasks they have been conditioned to preform. They may look creepy as hell, and the task they have been given may be a little morbid, but if one just looks beyond all that, they really are wonderful little girls. "Evil"... pah!

Replaced the pins in a NES once. Didn't help all that much, honestly. Still a blow-fest.
Interesting? I replaced mine several years back and now it works just like new.

- but before you butt in - no, probably hardly any of the achievements!
I wouldn't butt in about achievements. Though I may sound like it sometimes, I am not really into achievements that much, and don't think you should make it a point to get them unless you just enjoy it. Sometimes they add a lot of fun to a game by giving you that extra challenge to work toward, sometimes really ridiculous challenges that end up being a lot of fun (like The Orange Box's Little Rocket Man achievement).
It was multiplayer that put me off - as a new player trying to learn it - i sucked and it became very frustrating! but like fallout 3 decided to stick with it tho its not a priority at the moment - but am deffinately looking forward to Halo Reach.
You know it is going to be the same ol' thing, right? If you didn't care for Halo 3 or ODST, don't expect a lot from Reach. I like Halo, but personally, I am pretty Haloed out these days, and really have no interest in Reach at all. Four games in a series, and really never having given much variation from installment to installment, I just have a hard time staying excited about Halo. Loved ODST, because it was really different. Reach is looking like it is back to the same old thing, only with multiple Spartans rather than just Masterchief.
HotRod did tell Chaz that he was going to tell him a "secret" sometime at one point when he was flirting with Davenes.
I really want to see what happens when Chaz finds out. This is like a crappy reality TV show, and we are being deprived of the ending! ;)
Sad this thing fell apart on account of the stupid cbox. This thing has gotten ridiculously weird. You see, Mini Ric would have been my first guess, but the whole mixing the letters up had me horribly confused. So now I guess the McDonald's mascot is being held captive by mistake, and Mini Ric is running free.

Dammit i dont have halo 3 anymore - but have NEIR!
Whoa, didn't you say you just got a 360 recently? How quickly did you sell Halo 3?
Tonight at 8:30E, eh? I think I can pull that off. L4D2 sounds great to me, and we've (at least I've) yet to play it with Jonzi. Though I would also like to knock out that Halo achievement sometime (whether we can do it or not, trying it just sounds like fun), but then I'd be revealing just how bad I am at that game...
Yes, Fink, I would be honored to bounce you ball. May I?
The reserved spots are kept in a locked vault that can only be opened from our corporate offices via telephone as a safety measure for instances just like this. If I call them now and ask them to open it, they'll check the cameras to make sure everything is okay, see that it isn't, and within seconds this place will be swarming with armed security guards. But here, I've got $5.23 cents, a gum wrapper, 3 sticks of gum, a library card, and a condom (one of those ones with all the bumpy things she likes, still sealed too!), hopefully these will make your efforts somewhat more worthwhile.
Glad to hear you are going to make a second attempt, I think by this point we are all curious to see what you had in mind.
Sorry Fink, the current rate for a reservation request processing fee in this thread is $48.50. I am afraid your $42 dollars is a few bucks short, and since it is a nonrefundable free, I am afraid I cannot give you a refund. :(
You'll need to submit a NEW post reservation request, along with your sheet of references, and your new processing fee of $48.50. Make sure your list of references is stapled to the BACK of your request form with the check stapled to the FRONT. You should use only a SINGLE staple in the TOP LEFT HAND CORNER.
Sorry, just playing with you. Hope I didn't actually screw up anything you had planned. I figured I'd edit my first post to be relevent to your topic as soon as it was completed. If you feel like I hijacked your topic, I apologize, that wasn't my intent.

I think it would be really funny to redirect him here.
Also the font from Avatar: The Last Airbender as the font for the word "Avatar" in Dexter's Labratory: Avatar banner doesn't help either...

Monocle is free. Eye patch cost me something like 20 msp.
I had a really cool Nerf football (or what some of you may prefer to call a "soccer ball") when I was a kid... but my sister's horse ate it. :( I remember sitting at the kitchen table during breakfast and looking out the window and watching in horror as the thing took a huge bite out of it. I remember freaking out, yelling at my sister, and begging her to run out there and help me save it (I was afraid of both the horse and horse and the electric fence I'd have to cross to get to it). I was probably about six at the time. Very dramatic experience. By the time we got there, it was too late and the soggy hunk of foam we saved could hardly be called a ball anymore. Apparently, they taste pretty good... to horses and certain form members at least.
