But I guess that mods at OT.com just don't give a shit.

They care, they just have a very mature approach to forum moderation. While some sites will immediately issue you a warning or ban you for using bad language or suggestive terms, some of us are able to get away with profanity in our signitures, and I am allowed to make up fake planets withs names such as "Vagthatch". These really are great forums because of this... well... until Rob starts posting pictures of guys nude or in suggestive posses... but those usually get edited out pretty quick...

Yeah, that is what I figured, so I thought to re-explain it as I did in the previous post.

I merely meant to parallel how some of us find viral marketing games to be pointless, while at the same time there are people who even find movies to be pointless. In other words, to each their own. Or "one man's trash is another man's treasure".

Oh, and sorry for ruining your joke Johnboy.

Man, the last episodes of the first pod of season four really had me feeling like I could care less about this show anymore, now I am completely back into it. Hope they give us what we deserve after our long wait and the unfortunate shortening of the season and makes this last batch really worthwhile.

What? I must have missed something here? You said if he acted like that toward you... he wouldn't be your friend for long..., acted like what? My friend was born blind, meaning he can't see anything. Because of this the novelty that is TV and movies is lost on him. To him it is just like listening to talk and hearing a bunch of sounds that don't completely make sense to him. If you close your eyes and watch a movie, you can probably try to visualize what might be happening, but my friend has no real picture of what ANYTHING looks like beause he has quite literally never seen a single thing. The only images of people and objects he has in him mind are what he can come up with by feeling them with his hands. I completely understand why he wouldn't enjoy movies. He likes stories as much as the next guy, he loves audiobooks, and he reads in brail.

This sort of stuff doesn't really float my boat, but some people find it very exciting. If people get entertainment out of it, I have not right to complain. There are a lot of people really looking forward to this movie who are more than happy to suck up every last detail, hint, or clue about the movie. It is not pointless if some people like it.

A friend of mine is bind. He was born that way. He cannot comprehend why people would want to watch movies or TV, seems like the silliest, most pointless thing in the world to him, but I for one am still happy they make movies and TV shows.

I feel that you can't debate an issue with any type of effective resolution when so many don't even admit the problem exists.
Sorry, but that's how I feel. My comment was reasonable, and I stand by it.

I suppose the above comment was meant to bait us by using such a ridiculous argument.

By the way, what are your opinions on the impending invasion of the poop people from the planet Vagthatch? The government has known about it for years. They received a transmission from the Vagthatch military sometime around the turn of the century, and have kept it under wraps since then. The transmission said something to the effect of "we are coming to kill you, just wait". I think this is very irresponsible of our government not to inform the people about this. They have been developing an IPBM (Interplanetary Ballistic Missile) with nuclear capabilities in order to take these guys out when they come to get us, but many of us feel that the repercussions of this bomb may be more severe than the enslavement/harvesting/death/etc. that the poop people have planned for us. The world deserves to know about this. Myself and others are convinced that we can come up with a better solution to this problem, violence is not the answer. We need to use diplomacy or reason with the Vagthatchian poop peoples, this is a HUGE problem, but an even bigger problem is that nobody will admit this problem exists!!!

So what if some people take it "too seriously", if they want to take it "too seriously", it is their right, just like it is your right to come in here and act like an arrogant prick (see "rats in a maze, monkeys in a zoo" comment). Keep in mind that most of us don't really come here for serious debating (I mean, you do realize this is a Star Wars forum right?), we are just a bunch of guys with fairly common interests discussing how we feel about certian political situations. Sometimes the discussion gets a bit heated, as has been the nature of political conversations since the beginning of recorded history, so what? In real debate you are trying to convince people of your point of view, even though we discuss why we feel a certian way about something, it is not that we feel we are going to convince the other person to change their minds one way or another.

In short, we enjoy discussing these things, which is what we were doing in this particular thread. You are the one that pops your head in and says,

The abundant lack of intelligence of people who post on this forum just floors me.

"The ignorant can be trusting and thus can be governed. The misinformed are impossible to govern because they cannot be talked out of the skewed rubbish they think they know. - Dr. Albert Oxford, PhD

So who takes this too seriously? I didn't pipe up because "the shoe fit" I piped up because your arrogance annoys me, whether I was one of the ones you were refering to as one of the people who floor you, one of your rats/monkey/or the people who take things too seriously doesn't really matter to me. You are still insulting other people here, and that bugs me. It is not that we are expecting to solve the global warming debate in a Star Wars forum, it simply got brought up and we started talking about it. If it makes you feel better about yourself to come in here and start jeering at everyone for not being as enlightened as you, then so be it. If we only spent as much time looking at websites like the onion and a website called completewasteoftime.com like you do, we might be able to comprehend your vast intellectual strength, but I am pretty sure none of us come even close to being able to fathom it, so spare us the guilt trip on the sake of ignorance.

Now if you'll excuse me, I believe there is a piece of cheese somewhere in here that is in need of finding.

Hmm, after reading FF's previous post, I suddenly feel the need to quote myself.

C3PX said:

Funny thing about your graph FF, is that I am pretty sure you feel you are represented by that red line... which kind of proves your point.

Arnie, of course the statistics shown in that graph are not real. It is actually pretty impossible to get accurate statistics on anything, and for most things it is downright impossible. How could you possibly get statistics on how many people "think they know" and how many really "do know". It is funny that someone who thinks they are the wise man watching fools trip over themselves in a maze would post such a thing. Just the fact that he thinks he is represented by the red line defaults him over to the blue line.

A true mark of wisdom is coming to the realization that you can't possibly know everything or anywhere close to it.

I just say It's got to be a unanimous effort to cut down pollution when it concerns global warming.

Haha, I just watched the South Park episode "Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow" the other day. Its a classic, ranks among the greats such as "Something Wal-Mart This Way Comes" and "Cartman Joins NAMBLA".

I tend to think Global Warming is a bunch of BS, mostly because it is. It is unfortunate that I get globbed into the category of right-wing fanatic, Fox news watching, Bill O'Riely/George Bush lover/idiotic religious fanatica who is obviously to dull to comprehend science/ etc. because I drive an SUV and snicker when I hear someone pontificate about global warming going green (hey, I did my part to take care of the enviroment before I was told bs about killing the earth). It is always good practice to question things, too bad we don't. I question most bits of data that come my way, and I discover that a vast percentage of everything is pure BS. When there are as many muffled voices in the scientific community crying out against it as there is, maybe it is time to stop and think... or not. Just a thought.

As for the evil Westerners greedily supporting China for their own personal gain, it is true and I am completely against it. For one, I do not believe we should be supporting a communist nation in this way, and there are plenty of countries with just forms of government with poor economies that could use the help. But for saying such a thing I am at risk of once again being globbed into a category that is seen in a negative light, so scratch what I said before... and... uh... I don't think we should be supporting China's economy in such a way because they are causing... global... warming...

"We didn't listen!!!"

To be fair to America, look for some honest statistics of pollution in comparison to population size, and suddenly America looks incredibly clean. Americans in general may not be oppsessive compulsive about being "green" like some European countries are right now (though at this rate it honestly wont be long), but it is very conscious about the enviroment. Though I guess the fact that I ride around in an SUV automatically nullifies my opinion on the matter as well as reduces me to an un enviromentally concious neanderthal.

Once the government starts telling me what cars I can drive and what kind of lightbubls I can use, then you can say China is a magnified version of America all you want, because then it will be true.

This season seems to be following the path of season three. Endless conversation about the final five, and endless back and forth debate on various issues within the fleet. Just the same thing over and over. I am not one of those guys that needs endless action and explosions to keep interested in something, dialog is fine, but when you feel that you have heard it all before it wears thin. Can't say I am anywhere close to sorry this is the last season. I was really hooked on this show for the first two season, now it remains on my recorder for days before I decide to watch it. Hopefully it will pick up again soon.

Did you hear anything about the rebel legion helping at the rose bowl parade. Hell No. And if you did it was in a negative remark most likly made by a 501st member.

Lol, I have actually never really heard anything about either group. I have heard people mention the 501st around here every now and then, and I kind of took them to be like the guys who do Civil War reenactments, only with Stormtroopers. This is the first I heard of them being a charity group.

It is kind of sad that these guys become proud about wearing around armor from a science fiction film. I guess some people find it fun to get with other fans and dress up, but I am not sure if it is anything that can really be bragged about, at least not any more than any other group raising funds for charity.

Is recognition really the thing to be looking for? If it is a charity group, shouldn't the point be charity and not recognition?

EDIT:
2,403 posts, and I am pretty sure this is my first accidental double post slip-up. I used to look at others and think "how do these idiots always make accidental double posts?" A strong dose of reality has struck me today, and I realized something: We all make mistakes. We all have accidents. After all, we are all only human... I am not proud of what has taken place here today, but I am not going to beat myself up over it either... I am proud to be human, and making mistakes is part of that.

Oh, and maybe we will run across a young Han Solo being raised by Wookies in a very Tarzaan/Jungle Bookish fashion. That would be a winner!! Maybe Boba and Han will meet and become good friends, but somewhere down the road Han still Boba's first love away from him, forcing him to swear vengence on Mr. Solo. This way there is a great deal of added depth to Boba's character, instead of merely chasing after Han for money like bounty hunters do, Boba will be following his heart. Thus making Star Wars all about the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker, and a little bit about the tragedy of Boba Fett. Who knows, maybe we will even get Boba force ghost photoshopped in right between Yoda and Obi-Wan.
