I don't see how making fake accusations is going to do anything? It is not like anyone is going to post your story as real news without looking into it deeper, and when they do they will find nothing, or perhaos if they do a google search they will find your post her explaining your whole plan...

The news media is not like internet fan sites or spoiler sites where you can come up with a fake name, claim to be someone your not, and post fake spoilers for the next season of Heroes and have half the internet believeing you.

Even if they did believe you, all it would take would be for them to have a talk with the AFI to get confirmation that it is BS.

That said, good luck.

The Force Unleashed is true to the F.U. part
Time

I think the PS3 and Xbox versions are pretty close, but all the others vary greatly. From what I understand, they are all pretty short lasting. I have only played the DS version (worthless!) and the PS2 version, which is pretty good, and made even better by the scarcity of good new PS2 games.

The cutscenes have the exact same dialogue, and even the exact same voice over recordings, but the PS3 and Xbox have nice pre rendered cutscenes (Wii probably has the same?), while the PS2 uses the character models for the cutscenes. Even the DS with its written dialogue seems to have stuck to the same script.

this peice of shit that craps all over oot continuity.

Huh, the PT shits all over OOT continuity as well... hmm... I am sensing some sort of a pattern here...

Actually, TFU shits on a lot more PT continuity than it does OOT continuity. I am sure it places some fine turds on plenty of EU stuff as well, but actually, I was hard pressed to find anywhere where it messed with OOT continuity to any notable degree.

Some of the worst voice acting i have literally ever heard.

Then clearly my friend, you must have missed out on "Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight" and Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire", check those out for some truly atrocious voice acting and live action acting.

Rehashed plots and ideas and no original story.

For an EU story, I didn't thing it was THAT bad...

I don't care for this cardboard cutout starkiller character.

Agreed.

The Lucas canon version in force unleashed is stupid, goes against the novelization and deleted scenes in revenge of the sith.

Agreed.

Help Wanted: Episode 3 Extended Edition (To fit continuity)
Time

The Shaak Ti scene is also out of continuity with ROTS, since we later see her in a holographic transmission. The Rebellion scenes are also in contradiction to TFU, since it is essentially about the birth of the Rebellion and takes place well over a decade and a half after the birth of the Rebellions scenes in ROTS. The fact of the matter is, very little of Star Wars fits in continuity with itself, since the very beginning it has been into some pretty wild retconning, hence the sibling makeout scene in ESB.

Puggo Grande and Jambe's documentary that Sky mentioned being excited about have nothing to do with any the LD transfer. As of right now, the LD transfer is the best we have and the best we are going to get, everything that could have been done with it, was done with it long ago. (At least the LD is the best we are ever going to get unless your prohect is successful, which would be awesome, but as lj mentioned, there is no way for any of us to know how that is going, and thus hard to be super excited about. In our neck of the woods, typically no news is very bad news.

Time

I didn't own a PSOne until a friend gave me his right after he got his PS2. Excitedly, I went out and searched the web for the highest rated PSX games in order to know what to spend my money on. These are the ones I have found worth buying:

Tomorrow Never Dies (absolutely sucks, but being a Bond fan, I really enjoyed it)

Oddworld: Abe's Oddyssey

Oddworld: Abe's Exodus (both are good fun and challenging side-scrollers released in an age when the side-scoller was obsolete, which adds to the coolness)

Metal Gear Solid (there is a boxed set released earlier this year containing the first 3 MGS games, 1 for PSX, and 2 and 3 for PS2 for around $30, definitely worth it)

Tony Hawk's Pro Boarder (good mindless fun, gets old eventually, good game in its time, pretty dated now though)

Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 (being a long time fan of the Spider-Man comics, this game was a dream come true, the web slinging was fun, and it was chock full of references to the comics and Marvel easter eggs. The second one wasn't near as good, but still fun. Predates the movies)

Resident Evil games (old news by now, but I still think they are a lot of fun to play. Great classic B movie feel to them)

Episode I: The Phantom Menace (piece of crap actually, horrible graphics, but it was kind of fun going around with a lightsaber and slashing up droids, levels where you play as Jar Jar are unforgivable though. I heard Jedi Power Battles was another fun TPM inspired lightsaber slash em up game, but I have heard from other sources that it sucks some serious balls)

The City of Lost Children (I just thought it was great that that movie had a game based on it, bought the game and never made it out of the first room, uh, so.. yeah, I guess I can't really recommend it)

Skull Monkeys (I obtained this one from somewhere, but I still have never played it, I really liked "The Neverhood" for PC back when it was released, so obviously I needed to own its sequel. Not quite sure why I never played it)

There are plenty of "must play" games on the system that I have never played (Final Fantasy and a few that PSX fans used to worship back in the day). I was an N64 and PC guy back in those days, I always felt, and still do feel that the original PlayStation was pure shit. The graphics were way behind its time, load times sucked and this problem only grew more severe as your system aged. N64 games looked a zillions times better in comparison, though the N64 suffered from a very small library of games, the few good games it did have were REALLY good. The PS2 on the other hand, tough still under powered compared to its contemporaries, was one of the most amazing systems ever made IMHO.

Sounds more like the Mega Bastardized Edition. Seriously all you are going to do is to fuck up a real nice edit...

I agree it would be nearly impossible to add in the deleted scenes and such while still being something enjoyable to watch, but you don't have to be such a dick about it. Been to FE lately (or ever?) That place is ripping at the seams with amazingly crappy edits, all of which the editors feel that they have made "improvements" with. So what? If they had a good time editing it, learned a few things about video editing software in the process, then what is the harm? Don't download them if you don't want to see them. Why the need to knock someone down for no reason? Let this guy try it out, maybe he'll find it impossible to do and give up on it, or maybe he'll impress the hell out of everyone and achieve something amazing. Funny to read back at the beginning of Trooperman's and Adywan's edits threads and see the comments they got.

This guy could be a 13 year old kid, or a professional editor working for LFL who is sick of the way George controls things and wants to see what he can do on his own for all you know (though incredibly unlikely). If he is the later your words are not going to mean a thing to him, if he is the former, you are going to discourage the hell out of him and very likely drive him away from this community.

Wow, it has taken all this time to make it to Megaman 9? Made it all the way to six back in the NES days, and all the way to 8 with the SNES and PSX, can believe their has not been a numbered Megaman game since then. At the rate they were going before, I'd guess they were somewhere around Megaman X 20. I use to love Megaman when I was a kid, the last one I ever played was Megaman X 2 for the SNES. Lost interest after that.

Wow, random memory just poped up in my head! When I was in the second grade, I was at the park with a blue sock on my arm minding my own business and pretending I was Megaman, when an older kid came up and punched me in the face for no reason.

My Review of the Force Unleashed plot based on the graphic novel (SPOILERS WARNING I SPOIL THE PLOT)
Time

I watched the Youtube videos all the way through. I have to admit, it was very interesting and well done. The story was far better than the PT. Still a lot of things about it that sucked. I found the whole Palpatine "creatiing the Rebellion thing" not to be as far fetched as it immediately sounds. He was simply trying to get all his enemies in one place. I still think it is kind of silly and shrinks the galaxy even more. Even less likely is that the Rebellion would have taken 18 years to begin. I also never imagined it taking that long for Darth Vader and Palpatine to hunt down the Jedi and destroy them, as there are quite a few of them left at the beginning of this story which takes place only two years before Star Wars.

Proxy was also a dumb idea, we always see holograms as very transparent and not making perfect images, and yet Proxy can make himself look like anybody perfectly. Seems like these droids would have been used by the empire to dispatch and replace important figures in the Rebellion to bring it down faster.

I did like younger Leia making an appearance, that was pretty cool.

Biggest problem with the whole thing is the existance of another "choosen one-uber powerful-Jedi wunderkind" Was he concieved by midiclorines as well? Why was this little kid so unbelievably powerful? And why did Vader train him all that time, and bother lying to him about bringing down the Emporer only to have him create a Rebel Alliance.

In the end, I would have much rather had a story like this for the last chapter of the PT trilogy. I always imaged Anakin having turned to the Darkside well before the third movie, with the last part being about him hunting down the Jedi in a time period well after the birth of his twins. I think EP3 should have had Bail Organa and others organizing the Rebellion, and shown the Empire's tyrany over the galaxy. Kind of sad they can make something so much better than anything in the PT just within the cutscenes of a silly button masher video game.

The Phantom Menace UK DVD
Time

Oh yeah, I remember downloading the trailers and adds for it, and the UK version of the Jango Fett TV spot had the headbutt removed. My Goldeneye (James Bond) DVD is also a region 2, and at the end of the movie there is a fist fight that originally had a few headbutt in it that were removed. On the commentary track for Goldeneye the director actually mentioned how they had to be cut out for the European release, because a few countries had strict rules regarding headbutts, and the film would have had to jump up a rating had they left them in. So that also explains why AOTC had to have the headbutt removed. I guess in America we are more tolerant of violence, but less tolerant of sexual things. Funny stuff.

Were any of the OT movies release in clear cases? Are many other movies released in clear cases over there? Or is it pretty uncommon. In the states movies typically all come in the black cases, but on some rare occasions they will do something different to make them stand out. For example, Terminator 2 had a release that came in a metal slip case, the Lord of the Rings DVDs each came in a different colored DVD case instead of the standard black DVD case (FOTR green; TT red; ROTK blue), and many kid's movies (especially Disney) tend to be given white cases.

The Phantom Menace UK DVD
Time

My Phantom Menace DVD came from the UK, it came in a clear plastic DVD case with pictures on the opposite side of the cover insert. So when you open it up instead of seeing just the black plastic under and around your discs, you see the pictures from the back side of the insert.

The US never had any release like this, all three movies ony ever came packaged in the black cases. When The Phantom Menace first came out on DVD, I noticed some shops around England had it with a black case, and some had it with the transparent ones. I have been too England a few times since the other two films have been out on DVD, but I have never been bothered to step into any DVD stores to see what packaging they had.

So, I was just curious if anyone from the UK could tell me if the other two films were also released with transparent packaging, or if TPM was the only one. It is actually really cool looking. Doesn't even cause me any trouble with the fact that it can't play on my region 1 player, since I never care to watch it anyway :)

Why was the '04 DVD set such a botched release?

I guess you use your personality as a form of contraception.

That was pretty funny.

Ken, I have nothing against you, and sorry people treated you rudely, but I think if you go back and reread this whole thread with an honest eye, you might notice that you deserved it.

Around here we are fine with people who have different opinions from our own. You don't get banned for being for or against Lucas, or for loving or hating the PT, SE, EU, FU or whatever. This is a very tolerant place. You are free to have your opinions, and we respect your opinions. But it works both ways pal. We are such a tolerant bunch, that we come full circle to being very intolerant of intolerance. Make sense? You come in here being intolerant of other people's dislike of the '04 DVDs and told them quite rudely, to "shut up". Can we all agree that that was a decidedly intolerant thing to do? This is why people made fun of your posts.

It isn't too late to cut your losses and start over, we can be pretty forgiving around here. We'd be happy to have you stick around if you can play nice. But if you continue to tell others to "shut up" for voicing their opinions, you are not going to be very popular around these parts.
