You know, this place use to be extremely awesome and filled with members who could really help you with this question, but these days all we really do is make dumb jokes, post stupid pictures, and act extremely pious in our justifications of our dumbassery to our fellow members.

In short, Ferris' advice is probably the best you're going get our of this place. Good luck.

call me crazy but I traded my xbox 360 in for a psp! ((red) 3000 not the Go!)
You're crazy.

Wow, didn't you just recently get your 360? Whoever you traded with sure made out like a bandit! I am assuming it was a straight up trade, your 360 and games for his PSP and games?

Never had the slightest interest in the PSP myself. I have a DS, but only use it for emulation (GB, NES, SNES, SCUMMVM), and ebook reading.

Funny that my old methods from the first game for effortlessly felling Big Daddies still works flawlessly,

Do tell!

Sadly, it worked at the beginning of BS2 before I got more powerful, later in the game all it took was holding the trigger on my drill down in their face for a few seconds. Disappointing. I was happy to see the Rumblers appear in this game, after having seen them in concept art for the first game, but they were way too easy to take out, and they were the only BD's appearing in later levels, usually you want things like that to get harder, not easier. Not sure where they were going with that one. Guess they decided getting the Little Sisters should be fairly easy since you have so much else to deal with, but it killed a lot of the fun for me.

My method in the first game, since you asked, was to plasmid a BD, toss some lead at him, dodge his charge, run away, turn around, plasmid, lead, dodge, run, repeat. That was for Bouncers. Rosies were always a lot harder for me, Circling while shooting, dodging, and taking cover and utilizing turrets and cameras when I could was the best way I found to handle them.

Hmm... I can't say I remember having particular trouble with splicers.  I favored the rivet gun and the shotgun, and the ice and electrical plasmids  But I did let roving turrets do a lot of my dirty work.

After writing my last post, I found that gene tonic that significantly slows down your EVE consumption but makes it so that you can only use the drill, camera, and hack tool. I decided to go for it, fell in love with it, and never went back for the rest of the game. I discovered the mini-turrets around that time too, they made the Little Sister gathering events much more manageable.

Over all, I found the game to be much more simple than the first and most definitely not on par with it. Not a worthy sequel, but a fun side quest. It was fun to revisit Rapture and to take on the role of a Big Daddy. Protecting the Little Sisters was fun and very different from anything in the first. I absolutely loved the part where you play as the Little Sister and see Rapture and the Splicers (live and dead) through her eyes. The Big Sister fights were okay, but nothing like the thrill I got from facing a Big Daddy in BS1.

Really annoying, I beat it without using a single vita-chamber, turned the things off right after I started the game, and for some reason it didn't give me the achievements. Oh well.

And what do you make of the sequel where a cult of Altruists are the antithesis to Ryan's Objectivist distopia?  Are the game makers/storytellers saying that Objectivism as an extreme is bad, but that Altruists (forced/compelled Altruism or Socialism) are even worse?  If the 2nd game compares Altruism to Selfish Objectivism... what are the opposing philosophies of the first game?  Is it just about failed objectivism, or is it about chaos vs objectivism?

Finally- I loved the Ryan Amusements Museum/Ride.  I thought that was really well done.

I actually really like this subject, and will give a more lengthy response when I have the time.

I think the first game was definitely just trying to say outright that Objectivism is bad and a society based on Objectivism like Rapture, is doomed for failure. Being a bit of an idealistic fan of Objectivism, I don't exactly agree with that message, but I concede that it would be extremely hard to create such a society with any sort of success, and that in such a society excluded from the outside world like that, perhaps Rapture isn't too far off the mark. This is the sort of discussion I wanted to have after first playing the game, but never found anyone who had played it that really cared to take much time to consider the social and political aspects of the game's story, rather the deepest they could get was "Holy crap! That "a man acts, a slave obeys" and "would you kindly" stuff was really deep!". So even though this is a few years delayed, it is a very welcome discussion (though I fully predict the enjoyment of it will take a few hits due to an excess amount of nonsensical ice cream jokes).

I found it both strange and cool that the sequel took the opposite direction with the altruistic (almost communist) cult. I will give more indepth thoughts on all of this later.

Still not done with the second game, but I have been making progress over the last few days, as you saw for yourself. I am realizing that it is a whole lot more diffucult than the first. The first one I played through on the hardest and never found anything too frustrating, this one I am playing on normal and on several occasions have been tempted to turn the difficulty down. Funny that my old methods from the first game for effortlessly felling Big Daddies still works flawlessly, but when I find myself fighting two or more splicers at a time I find my med packs disappearing one after the other.

And yeah, Ryan Amusments was extremely cool. I spent a while admiring the anamatronic Andrew Ryan, then moved on and actually missed the 9-Irony achievement. So I have to start a new game and go back and snag that one sometime. :(

So I'm considering buying a PS2 slim and a ton of games for it.

Don't forget Shadow of the Colossus and Ico, they are not to be missed. I'd also highly recommend Citizen Kabuto, I tend to recommend it everytime I get the chance because it is such an awesome game, but my recommendations usually fall on deaf ears and I have actually never met another person who has played it (that I know of). I usually see copies of it at Gamestops for $1.99 (though the PC version is superior to the PS2 port).

Half-Life is another game I would recommend for the PS2, even if you have played the PC version, I found it fun to have on a console.

So I've been playing Zelda 2 on NES for a while now, and I don't see why everybody hates on it so much. I LOVE this game!

I think it is because everyone just gives up too easily. Yeah, it is a really awesome game! As much as I loved Ocarina of Time, which many people proclaim as the best Zelda ever, I still have to put it below Zelda 2 on my list (proceeded by the original and A Link to the Past).

Absolutely no fucking way will I touch another HALO game...

I am kind of feeling the same way. Might change my mind, Halo did provide some fun co-op, and Reach sounds like it will be really overhauled. I think it is how archiac that Halo feels as a shooter than prevents me from enjoying it these days. Shooters have just evolved to offer so much more, and Halo 3 all in all really hasn't come that far from the original Halo. Neither did ODST, but I felt it made some fun improvements that made it worth while. If Reach feels like it has made an effort to modernize itself, and is not just more Halo 3, which was just more Halo 2, which was just more Halo... then I might be able to get behind it.

ODST's atmosphere and the fact that you were no longer an over powered super hero is really what appealed to me about it. In this regard, Reach just feels like a massive step back to me, now instead of just two super heroes, we get a whole team of them!!!!!!!!1 And some of them are sporting really badass armor and attitudes!!!!!!!!!!!11! Like Master Chef only more awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111!1

they've already anounced the next one [Bishock Infinite].

Whoa! This is the first I have heard of this! I just did a quick google search and got and saw a few screen shots. I am actually really excited about this now! I am so happy they are leaving Rapture at the bottom of the sea and going for a different story. One visit left us hungry for a return, two visits was just enough. There are other interesting stories along those same lines to be told, and I am really excited to see they are doing that!

EDIT: Trailer had me grinning like an idiot. Absolutely awesome idea! Loved the opening. Bioshock 2's trailers and advertisements got me excited, but the actually game failed to keep my interest for long (for one, I think it felt too much like I was playing the first game again and the appeal of the first game to me was the fact that it was so unique and different. When a sequel feels like it could have been a really long expansion pack for the first game, then I feel it kind of fails as a sequel... though I give L4D2 a pass on having that same issue, since in its case a really long expansion pack was exactly what I think a lot of us, myself included, wanted).

Trying to hard to be like "The Office"...

Don't bother. It is absolute rubbish!

The only benefit you will get from watching it is that you will be "in" on all The Office references the young hip witty whippersnappers make in order to invoke laughter amongst their peers. But really, in order to achieve that all you need to know is "that is what she said". There you go! I just told you ever single joke ever made in The Office. Now you have no reason to ever torture yourself with another lousy episode. You can thank me later.

Oh, wait, you said that that other show was trying too hard to be like "The Office", not that you were trying hard to like "The Office". Damn, even at 1:30 in the morning with a slightly altered state of mine the commonly accepted internet practice of replacing "too" with "to" throws me off!

After really getting into Fallout 3 and hearing all the old Fallout fans talk about how horrible FO3 was, I decided to check out the old ones. Tried both one and two out for about 20 min or so each, and really didn't find anything to keep my attention beyond that. Guess whatever it is about FO3 that the old fans don't like, must be the same things that made me enjoy it so much.

I actually feel kind of excited about New Vegas and despite my difficulty in getting into single player games as of late, I kind of want to get it when it comes out, but at the same time, when I think of all the hours I spent playing the first game I am not so sure I really want to make that kind of commitment to a game again.

Dear C3PX,

Too much words kill the words, mostly when they fall in a blocked ear. Your effort for clarification here is sure valuable to my eyes, but the transformation of every ideas and feelings you will share here makes it rather worthless and painful.

The essential has been said and is once again burried into kilometers of quotes and useless details.

that's right, I'm just a stupid, closed minded idiot.   (even though I've decided to do away with the election results and decide the matter for myself)

I think you are taking ABC's comments the wrong way again. By claiming that he was calling you a stupid, close minded idiot you are putting words in his mouth. He did say my words are falling on a blocked ear, but you are reading a lot into that in order to turn it around and take it as an insult.

I think he is right in telling me what needed to be said was said in the beginning, and that since then I have just wasted a bunch of time rehashing and over explaining what was clearly put in our initial posts.

It does appear that I have wasted an obscene quantity of time posting on this topic, and I am not really sure if I am coming off as the helpful friend that I intended to be, or as a complete asshole who is just picking on you relentlessly. Either way, I was probably wrong to poke my head into things this far. It has however been a nice distraction that helped me get my mind off some stuff that was really eating at me. Now it is time for me to get some sleep so I can wake up and get to work on weaving my precarious little thread into something more akin to a rope.

For the most part, my sentiments lie in line with C3PX and A B C, although I'm not sure if I could say them with the kind of necessary force that C3PX did.  There were times I was reading and wondering if he went too far, but sometimes I realize someone needs to not have any pulled punches.

I myself am in a rather precarious situation at the moment, and have to be forceful with myself. Perhaps I unfairly carried some of that over and laid in on Warb.

Warb, I had only heard about that poll at Dayv's place from Ferris, as I had not logged in for a good long while, and honestly, after you were banned, being one of the members there I enjoyed interacting with the most, I never bothered going back. I understood that poll to be of a very different nature than it was. I thought that everyone had gotten tired of you and another forum member (who I actually also quite liked) going at it all the time, so Dayv decided one of you needed to go and put it up for a vote. Ferris sent me a PM after it happened expressing how dissapointed he was that you where kicked, because like me, he too really enjoyed interacting with you.

Now from reading your post, I realized it was self inflicted, even if Dayv did screw it up and make it in a different format than you asked him to, you still asked him to offer up the option of everyone electing to ban you. Why do you do that kind of shit? It feels like you are looking for affirmation that you are wanted. It is a public forum, you don't have to do that. There will always be people who like you and people who don't. That is just the way it is. As long as you have one single friend around who enjoys you being here (or posting in certain threads) what else matters?

Just that fact that guys like myself, ABC, Gaffer, (hell, you even got Dayv to come out of the shadows), Bingowings, and other who have posted more than just a few sentences or negative comments ought to clearly show that you matter here. But just keep in mind, pulling needy shit and constantly seeking reaffirmation is a good way to push people away. A guy/girl who constantly has to ask their girlfriend/boyfriend if they love them is a good candidate for a dumping, because no one wants to feel their words and affection constantly doubted. Same thing goes for a friend who always has to ask, "we're good friends, right?" "you like hanging out with me, right?" Those kinds of demands can get exhusting, and someone who would have otherwised really enjoyed the company of that person may end up deciding that it simply isn't worth all the extra effort in order to be their friend. Low maintenance people are great. High maintenance people can be a chore. Just some practical advice.
