There’s also the opposite idea that the First Order was sent to kill them all by Jannah and her company. Probably at the direct command of General Pryde, because he was a part of the original Empire and wants revenge for Palpatine.
Actually, I just got another idea that this reminded me of because I just found out in those Ewok movies, they ride ponies in some scenes. So, using Hal’s fan edit as a template that makes Kef-Bir into Endor, we could include scenes of the Ewoks here as being allies to the defected Stormtroopers.
Inspired by me absolutely DOMINATING as an Ewok warrior on Battlefront II the other night, I wonder if there would be a way to imply that the Resistance has recruited Ewoks into their ranks? Now, as goofy as that may sound, it would make sense that the off-shoot of the original Rebellion would try to maybe recruit some of the alien species that happened to take down the original Empire in the first place.
Obviously, not too much could be done in regards to like action scenes or whatnot. But I feel like you could maybe use some upscaled and color corrected footage from those Made-for-TV Ewok movies from back in the day in order to insert some footage of Ewoks hanging around at the Resistance base on D’Qar/Ajan Kloss? Granted, I’ve never actually seen those movies so I’m not sure if the footage would be useable there in the first place. But I feel like it could be worth a shot!

I’ve also looked for a fan edit(s) of this as well. I’m genuinely surprised no one has taken a crack at it yet.
- We’d need to see his own ship flying down to Mustafar’s surface to understand how he suddenly got there. Fixing Disney Star Wars commissioned a really talented VFX artist who used to be on this forum to do this for a project (Petrovelly, I believe). Their project is now defunct, and they didn’t have the decency to release these materials to the community. So unless somebody can think of some sort of clever transition method, it probably wouldn’t work.

This could be used pretty effectively in those mega ROTS edits that use The Clone Wars finale stuff alongside the movie. Could really help bridge the gap between the two.
You could change the inscription from “where the last war ended” to “where countless fell in battle” or something generic like that. That way it’s possible the journey starts at a different site for everybody depending on the point in time - it just requires a lot of residual death in the area.

I am of the perhaps unpopular opinion that the goonies moment where she uses the dagger to find Palpatine’s tower actually worked in the original, and its absence is noticeable here. If I did a version of this edit, that moment wouldn’t be removed.
Honestly? Same here. In fact there’s a couple of moments from the film that I remember some fans getting upset about and that have been subsequently been removed in fan edits that didn’t really bother me despite how goofy or nonsensical they were (i.e. “They fly now!”, light speed skipping)
Having just watched the film last night and knowing about the advancements when it comes to AI voice replacement/replicas, I would love to see a fan edit that makes Young Indy at the beginning actually sound like 1980’s Harrison Ford instead of Old Man Harrison Ford. I think that’s one of the many reasons why I absolutely loathe that beginning sequence so much and I feel like doing that (plus maybe adding some grain and other effects to lessen the digital uncanny valley sheen of everything) would help to make the sequence at least somewhat tolerable to me.
Along with the same line of thinking Starkiller has, I’ve always thought it would be interesting to have Passanna(?) be Jakku again.
It definitely feels like the Jedi Texts are a patchwork of various authors, of whom Luke is the latest. Certain parts may have survived from the beginning with scraps of ancient papyrus or something, but more likely these are copies of copies of copies, with annotations from a thousand generations of Jedi thrown in for good measure.
This is what I always thought of the Sacred Jedi Texts being. Kind of like that one Jedi Path book. Or “The Red Book of Westmarch”… lol

I’ve tried taking a stab at seeing if this scene is usable for anything; however, with my limited skills, the scene is too low quality because it’s a zoomed version of something in the corner of the screen in the original documentary. Topaz upscaling didn’t do much for me in bringing the scene to some acceptable quality. Be happy to see if others can get th quality of the footage improved

Consider:
Kylo tracks down a Sith Wayfinder on Mustafar, Darth Vader’s lair.
Rey has frightening visions during training, visions of herself on a dark throne.
The second Wayfinder is located in the Emperor’s throne room on the Death Star.
Both Snoke and Palpatine reborn originated on Exegol, brought to life through ‘Secrets only the Sith knew’.
Palpatine performs his most powerful acts in the vicinity of the throne on Exegol, and his most powerful act while sitting upon the throne.
Conclusion: The Throne in Exegol is the Sith’s source of power and the secret to their resurrection. The Wayfarers are a way of extending that power to the lairs of the two Sith that exist in the galaxy at any one time.
Suggested Edits:
Give more emphasis to Rey’s vision of the Exegol throne.
When Rey calls upon the Jedi for the final time, after the Jedi give their generic support, Yoda’s voice gives her a specific instruction: “A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense. Knowledge…and defense.”
When Rey turns over after hearing these voices, her hand strikes the ground as if touching this place for the first time. Just like when she touched Anakin’s lightsaber, she sees visions in her mind. She sees the Exegol throne, the Wayfarers, the Death Star throne, and, from somewhere, the image of Vader’s castle and his throne (perhaps taken from the Kenobi show). The answer comes to her mind: “The Throne.” The voice of Luke responds. “Yes, Rey. You have everything you need.”
When Rey stands and confronts Palpatine, she is able to use the first saber to block his Force lightning, but when she uses the second saber, it is to direct some of the lightning in another direction. It flies over Palpatine’s head and strikes the throne, impacting it with tremendous force. The stone seat erupts with power and is destroyed, along with Palpatine and the entire fortress around them.
Benefits:
It gives a reason for the Macguffin-heavy scavenger hunt over the course of the film, setting up these places of power to emphasize that they are important for understanding this revelation.
It is more reasonable for Rey to use two sabers at the end, to protect herself as well as direct lightning elsewhere.
It suggests that the Exegol throne is a powerful Sith artifact capable of returning Sith to life, and it also suggests that Snoke was another ancient Sith spirit brought back to life by this artifact.
It reveals the difference between Jedi and Sith, and shows that Rey is a Jedi by her actions of thinking things through and protecting herself rather than using power to defeat her enemy. Furthermore, it is a symbolic rejection of the power that Palpatine represents.
Finally, it explains why this defeat of the Sith is more final than any prior defeat, giving this story far more closure.

Off topic but, I remember awhile back somebody on here compiled every single piece of deleted/unused material for TROS that was found in TV spots, documentaries, trailers and the like. Would any of you happen to have it still and could link me to it? I’d greatly appreciate it.
Not to derail this thread too much but I just want to say that this new sort of AI voice model work you all have been doing for this is so exciting, not only for this edit but for any future edits of other shows and movies. Within Star Wars alone, I know some people have had problems with how both Vader’s lines in Obi-Wan Kenobi/Rogue One and Luke’s lines in Mando/Boba Fett have sounded and with this new way to use this tech, we could get a more accurate voiceprint of both of these characters from the original movies.
It’s hard to extract “Rey” from this scene because a lot of music is in the center channel. This is beyond my abilities, unfortunately.
That’s why I think the “Rey” should be cut out, full stop.
What I meant is that by doing that to the center channel, the music quite obviously dips out and then back in. I’m not sure if this is something somebody else has done before on here.
Hmm… Excuse my naivety but I wonder if it would work if you cut out that “Rey”, incorporate the score from the official soundtrack (which I assume would have the cue that would be missing), and edit it in such a way that it matches the music before and after it in the actual film so that it all is seamless?
I also want to excuse myself if I’m being combative/annoying about this and being more of a guy telling others what to do rather than just doing it myself or contributing something feasible.

I like it! But, I’d suggest cutting out that “Rey” so it just goes like “Final lesson… [rest of dialogue]”. I think it would flow more better.
I think it works well enough as is without it. I would think that it’s worth it to revisit the idea of having Luke saying “Lesson three” or “Final lesson” during the Ach-To conversation seeing as it’s more plausable now.
