The legendary "Starkiller Ranch" Thread
Time
The opening of RotJ is still up for discussion. It will either be Dagobah, Tatooine, or Palpatine's arrival on the Death Star. The ESB opening was always rather weak, inspiring the Death Star arrival scenario. It's Star Wars tradition to open in space with a ship of some short, but starting 2 films with back-to-back arrivals at the Death Star may be too much though, so we'll see.

This is just a general comment- I find it surprising that so many people find the opening to ESB to be weak! I love the slow open. The film has such a nice and steady pace, and the shot of the probe droid always makes you go, "hmmm, now what the heck is this going to be about?" Is this really the general consensus?

(This post shouldn't be taken as any criticism of the project- I'm all for any and all changes. The more the merrier).

You could have the DS2 being built, but instead right above Coruscant and have Vader at the opening travel on his shuttle to Coruscant instead of DS2.

You could take elements of nighttime Coruscant views from the PT, of which there are several, and comp them into scenes outside The Emperor's throne room windows.

That is a really interesting idea...but how do you explain why the DS2 is suddenly at Endor? It may be a neat exercise, though.

What is the rarest video in your collection?

Wow, ADM, I'd LOVE to see you do a release of those. I remember seeing Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss one day on Nickelodeon's "Special Delivery" series. I still chuckle when I think about Jerry O'Connell and his friends carrying that refridgerator up those stairs. I hadn't heard about the others though! Has anyone ever bothered checking out the Keiran Culkin A Christmas Story follow-up, My Summer Story? I've always been morbidly curious.

***//BUILDING EMPIRE\\: PAL & NTSC DVD - NEW EDITION NOW ONLINE! ***
Time
I'm a huuuuge ESB fan. It's always been one of my "sacred cow" films, and I've studied it like some peopel study Citizen Kane. So to say that I was looking forward to viewing Building Empire would be a bit of an understatment.

What a great job! All of your clips and choices of information were top notch. I especially liked the care you took in not using the same old interviews that we've heard over and over, but using a lot of the lesser known audio bytes available. The use of comic footage was inspired, and the on screen textual commentary was amazing (I could even have had even more!).

What I was expecting was a nice way to spend my Saturday morning, but what I wished for was a great DVD to proudly display on my Star Wars shelf. My wish was granted LONG LIVE JAMBE!

Idea & Info Wanted: The Mysterious Cities of Gold

Has anyone taken a look at some of the fan created DVD sets of this? I know for a fact that the English dubs have never been officially released (it’s one of those classic “who has the rights?” stories), but what I’d love to see is a fan DVD that has the English, French, AND Japanese audio tracks as well as English subtitle. I’m fairly certain this isn’t available on the fan sets out there, but does anyone know for certain?

That was awesome. I've always been very curious as to how the whole dirt removal thing was done, and this doc delivered the goods. I can't imagine the painstaking work this must be for you guys, but as a stickler for details myself, I completely understand the level of devotion you're showing to this treasured series of films!

God bless you all!
