Idea: Uncanny X-Men (X3 edit - * unfinished project*)
Time
Well, I'm going to give it the old college try! I've decided to start where the problems are: X3. I'm going to cut out all the lameness and remove the unnecessary subplots, but I also want to add a few fun things to the mix...like this:

Note how in our first shot of the Sentinel in the Danger Room sequence, it has round eyes:

After Colossus and Wolverine perform the fastball special, the eyes have totally changed shape!:

Here's my first special effects change (this is just a test- I did it only to a single frame using Photoshop - it took less than 5 minutes):

Not only did I fix the eye shape, but I also brought back the Sentinel to its original comic coloring, without going overboard. In the final version, I'll make the eyes much smaller and fix their color inconsistency.

I'll keep you posted as other things develop!

Idea: Uncanny X-Men (X3 edit - * unfinished project*)
Time

Fact: Bryan Singer made two incredible X-Men films.
Fact: X3 is a pile of crap

We need to rectify Fact #2. We have several options.

Option 1: X3 could be trimmed and reordered. Cut out
meaningless subplots, remove silly one liners, and
structure the film differently to make it fit more of
the feel of the first two films.
Option 2: Edit all three films into one long GIANT
epic (call it “Uncanny X-Men” or “Giant Sized X-Men”
if you want to get REALLY geeky).
Option 3: Edit X2 and X3 into one super-sequel to the
first film.

What do you guys think? I lean more towards the one
long film, but that would take SO much work, and the
film would be ungodly long. Option 1 is the most
doable, but I’m afraid you wouldn’t have too much of a
film left when you were done. Maybe go with option 3
and treat X3 more like a coda to the superb X2?

PS - One thought I had to tie 2 & 3 together better
would be to have a video monitor showing footage of
Leech (the mutant who is the source of X3’s cure) in
Stryker’s office building when Mystique breaks in
during X2. A little bit of foreshadowing, or just
have THAT be the introduction to the character entirely.

Info Wanted: 'Dick Tracy' - Director's Cut or Bonus Disc?
Time

One of the hype trains I rode long and hard as a youngster was the 1990 Warren Beatty film Dick Tracy. I haven’t seen it in years, but I recall it being a fun and exciting romp in the four color comic world. Think of it as Sin City, for kids!

I know there as a Vista Series rumored to be in production a few years ago, and there was always rumblings of Beatty campaigning for a release of his first cut (which is a staggering 30mins longer!) Has anyone ever seen this version or know someone who has?

Also, there were tons of tie ins and fun merchandising things associated with this film. I’m not sure if there were any TV-specials, but if there were I’m sure they were interesting. The large and notable cast must have done some interviews, right?

The current DVD doesn’t even have the trailer…can we put something together?

I'd rather have a wall of TIEs than a paltry four or five. Heck, the five in the original film are basically cloned optical elements anyway. To me, it feels like the same shot with a lot more impact, but I can see where some people would see it differently. Personally, I'm down with it.

Perhaps the timing could be altered, just slightly, so they're not all so perfectly in sync?

I'm in agreement. It's the only thing that seems to stand out.

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
Its a pretty safe bet that Lucas is fully aware about this site and i would have thought that if it was a clamp down on fan edits then OT.com would have been slapped with the same notice as the "REBORN" MySpace site was by now.

Also, last time I checked www.starwarslegacy.com was still up, and that website is about as up front as you can be with a fan project. I think Lucasfilm doesn't care so much about our hobbies in of themselves, but the out-and-out proclamation of distribution (which a www.myspace.com page could seem to imply) is a BIG "no no."

Great work. This should be the default ending of ANY Episode One edit. Good job!

Idea: Superman Returns - Spoilers... for a fan edit
Time
There are far too many sequences (such as Lex testing the crystal or Richard and Lois fishing out Superman) that go on far too long. They definitely need to be trimmed. I too hope there's plenty of stuff from the cutting room floor that Singer puts back on the DVD, but the film runs pretty long as it is. Personally I think this film needs a DRASTIC overhaul.
