I messed around with this idea, but found the force theme to be more fitting (especially in jonh’s incredible force ghost edit) for that scene whereas I think the trailer music is very fitting for the following scene.

For those who were interested, I’ve worked for a while on continuing to add the final TROS trailer’s music into the movie:

It’s still a bit rough when the music goes in and out since I can’t find a way to gradually increase or decrease it, so I have to cut the ends into numerous quarter-second chunks that quickly increase or decrease in volume, leaving the audio somewhat clippy/chunky.

However, the music placement and transitions are improved and I made custom sound effects to replace the original rocks crumbling and explosions (I had to keep the blaster fire for a second though which sounds slightly odd with a pinch of the original music peaking through… I might just cut this part out). I’ll still try to improve it any way I can but this is good enough for me to add in 😃

Sorry if I gave the wrong idea, I know you’ve said that- I just wanted to share it to the other people in the thread who wanted this version since I didn’t know how else to give it to them.

I get where you’re coming from, I just don’t like the force theme as it is there and I love this piece of music - feels fitting in my eyes. Is there somewhere on the forum to request an edit/help with one?

I would much rather have the entire shot with a voiceover from Poe in the middle. The way he’s spliced into that shot in the original movie is poorly done

Do you happen to know about when it was? I always try to see if there’s discussion for an idea before I post it but it’s difficult to search for anything on this website.

And while I’d love it if someone could help do it better, I might have to just refine my rough edit and deal with it since I like the music there so much lol

You’ll have to excuse my poor editing skills, but I made a rough mock-up placing it immediately after Palpatine dies. I actually think it fits pretty well + I really wanted to replace the music there with something else since it’s a boring repeat of the overused Force theme again. The only issue I see is I’m not sure where to exactly end it. Not a fan of Lando’s introduction at all, but I don’t think it’s possible to cut it out. Too much exposition and setup

EDIT: If anyone is interested, this thread does a lot of FinnPoe editing. An edit of the scene you mentioned is a bit rough but I plan on doing something similar alongside cutting out most of Zorii (especially her flirting with Poe)

I gave a go at doing sound for the shot, only issue is the shot isn’t in the best quality ever but it should be serviceable. also I’m pretty new to sound stuff, i did it in mind that there would be more radio chatter on top of it

At 0:16 there is a cut extended shot of ships flying when Lando’s fleet arrives. So good! The place I just found it says it even has the Fireball (!!!) but I can’t find it. This shot in the movie is about 2 seconds long with a clip of Poe saying “Hit those underbelly cannons, every one we knock out is a world saved”. Given that the extended clip here is about 10 seconds long and the Poe clip is poorly/weirdly spliced into the shot in the original movie, I figure the audio of him saying it could just separated and then placed over the extended shot 😃

FWIW, I had an issue with the size too until I googled “Adam Driver next to Carrie Fisher” and then “Adam Driver next to Mark Hamill” and realized Ben is actually smaller than he would be. Adam Driver is massive lol. I don’t think it’s an issue anymore since I think he’d look weird smaller but also awkward any taller

I’m thinking 1:50-6:23 (abruptly cut at the end) would work well as the vision Kylo experiences when he meditates on Vader’s helmet.

-It shows how Kylo struggles with living up to Vader’s legacy (especially with Vader demeaning his as Ben)
-Essentially adds in the Vader/Kylo duel from the DOTF script/concept art
-Could be seen as continuity in him rebuilding his mask? He sees himself in this vision defeating Vader so that could represent him overcoming his internal struggle with Vader’s legacy and then rebuilding his mask because of it
-Overall just a really cool scene

I know Kylo’s vision in this scene has already been edited (in a way I also like 😃 ) but I think this is a really cool alternative that I might put it on my own
