Palpatine can actually use red force lightning, I didn’t just randomly suggest it for the sake of referencing Mortis. We just haven’t seen him use it in live action yet.

When have we seen him use it? Is this from the legends/old EU that said force lightning came from squeezing random fruits?

No idea what is and isn’t canon anymore, When I do personnel cut of film will likely have red force lightning but would mainly just be ascendant with a few added things, still don’t get why people are adding trailer music over Rey v Kylo DS fight seems very out of place.

Not sure if I’m reading this right, you plan to do the red Force lightning in full?

Not for a while, no.

Was there anything left for Jonh todo or did he finish all his stuff other than hair?

Not that it’s for Ascendant, but I talked to him and he’s planning on doing an alternate Force ghost scene at the end to include Anakin with Ben, Leia, and Luke when he’s finished with everything else 😄 I’m excited to see the entire Skywalker Force ghost family together

I just feel like the colour doesn’t explain anything, and forces us to ask questions without answers.

If the monochromatic Exegol is the problem, I think changing up the colours of the planet, temple, or even just the mist/fog would better break up the blue than to introduce new powers/looks for established powers.

What questions does it force you to ask? It’s literally simple.

Red force lightning = more evil power.

Simple as it can get. Not even a “new power”.

Exactly, it’s just a cool visual change. Star Wars fans wouldn’t question it since they’d understand it’s a fan-edit (appreciate it as a nod to TCW if that’s how they interpret it) and a general audience would just think “huh, cool”.

If it isn’t going to be that deep mythologically, then it just feels like a video game power up.

Personally I wouldn’t heavily question the Son/Palpatine connection and would just enjoy the color. And with how campy Palpatine has always been I wouldn’t really consider it a bad thing for it to feel like a video game power up lol, even if that’s not how I see it.

When we’re talking about the green nightsister magic, do we mean the mist around Palpatine from 0:52-0:57 or the effect coming from Ben and Rey’s bodies? I’m thinking of the mist

I’d really like to see a Nightsister green smoke effect (with SFX included) either around Sidious’s life-support system or when he drains the Dyad power out of Ben and Rey.

Yeah the red lightning might feel like something coming from a videogame or a comic book, but I’m still intrigued by its plausibility. At least it has a precedent in the form of the Son of Mortis, and besides, the Dyad power did not only restore Palps but also gave him brand new clothing so I think most audiences could give it a pass.

Also the visual contrast between Palps’ red lightning and Rey’s blue Skywalker lightsaber would be impressive.

Hell yeah! I’m down to see both. And if we go by the lightsaber edit in Hal’s TROS Ascendant, Rey will initially be using Leia’s purple lightsaber and then soon add in Anakin’s crackling blue lightsaber.

Bringing this from Hal’s TROS: Ascendant thread, what do you guys think of making Palpatine’s Force lightning red? Here’s a concept from Skywalker Arts:

https://imgur.com/a/TZ4CnuM

And here’s a quick video mockup from sade1212:

https://streamable.com/si5q8z?fbclid=IwAR1q7SEh_pkYu_A0IYfy0fK6Ai35zKd6hSNwlhLJknSd1S8_hJ_7lDSB10U

Personally, I don’t know if I’d use a full version in my own edit yet but I’d love to see it- there was a decent amount of support from others as well.

There was some discourse about it regarding confusion, but I don’t see it as something that needs to be directly explained. We see Palpatine absorb the power of the dyad and then he steps down in new (red) robes with glowing eyes again, so I feel like it’s safe to say the audience would understand:

Dyad power-charged Palpatine = Greater power than ever before = Red Force lightning color

The red could just be interpreted by the general audience as maximum Dark side power since red usually means Sith, and TCW fans would appreciate the connection to the Son in the Mortis arc.

Would you send me Qui-Gon saying, “Bring balance to the Force”? That might be nice to include at any rate.

Sent 👍

Send it this way, I’ll take a look at possibilities for Qui-Gon line

On this topic, Brewzter, would you happen to have any possible dialogue of Qui-Gon saying anything like:

My apprentice died, my apprentice fell, Obi-Wan died, Obi-Wan paid the price, I lost my student, etc. etc.

Anything at all that has Liam Neeson indicating Obi-Wan died?

Not that I ever saw while searching for lines, sorry.

I like the red lightning idea just because it breaks up the MAXIMUM BLUE aesthetic of the movie. Here’s a short mockup clip using the very laziest AE hue changing shapes. Obviously that’s just a quick edit; not using any of the luts or Jonh’s edits, but you can see what it might look like if someone did decide to edit in MAXIMUM RED lightning.

That’s cool as hell, I’d def like to see a legitimate/full version- especially the part where Palpatine disables the entire galactic militia in the sky.

I personally love the red lightning idea- ties into The Son from Clone Wars and provides a nice contrast to the blue of Exegol.

This is the only thing that makes it interesting to me… but with Lightning being blue everywhere else, and the Son not being in Live Action or any of the films, I think it would simply add confusion to an edit where the goal is to remove confusion and fix plot holes.

I don’t see it as something that needs to be explained, we see Palpatine absorb the power of the dyad and then he steps down in new (red) robes with glowing eyes again. I feel like it’s safe to say the audience would understand:

Dyad power-charged Palpatine = Far greater power than ever before = Red lightning color

Anyone know the best way to edit red force lighting, recolouring attempts don’t seem to be a good option.

Concept by Skywalker Arts.

In canon and legends, red force lightning is It’s most powerful state and we’re supposed to believe Palpatine is his most powerful and we already know this is an ability he can use but weirdly he doesn’t use it when he’s supposed to be at his strongest.

Wow, I wasn’t on board until I saw the concept. I’d be super interested in seeing this realized now!

Edit: Also, yellow lightning for Rey sounds really cool as well. Is this available somewhere?

What if it can be jumbled together to have Luke, Ben and Anakin say “I’m all the Jedi.” with Rey.

Yoda can say “All the Jedi, I am” too, why not?

Hmm, what if it was changed to have Rey say “We’re all the Jedi”?

It would contrast Palpatine’s “I am all the Sith” by showing a key difference between them: wanting as much power for yourself as possible and backstabbing to get it, versus working together with compassion and selflessness.

One big issue I had with TROS was it broke canon by having Rey hear Jedi voices who were not Force ghosts and did not preserve themselves after physical death. I have made an edit to fit canon better by only including Jedi who canonically preserved themselves past physical death. For Force ghosts, at this point in the timeline, it includes Qui-Gon, Kenobi, Yoda, Anakin, and Luke. Leia and Ben haven’t died yet so they aren’t included. I considered removing Qui-Gon but FACPOV confirms he can appear as a physical ghost by 0 BBY… and this would’ve been impossible without his lines. I’m iffy on Ahsoka since I personally believe she’s dead by this point and the other ghosts would help her become one (like they did with Anakin), but it hasn’t been confirmed so I’m not including it- I’ll go back and add her in if we ever get confirmation. I’m not thrilled with a couple of lines at the start (after hours I just couldn’t find anything better) but for the most I’m happy with how this came out.

Feel free to use it! I know I will 😃

Well, it’s still truncated because otherwise there’s need to be some serious audio work for the music and foley.

And I’ll try moving up the “for Skywalker” cries to right as Poe finished his sentence.

Ah, I didn’t even realize it isn’t the full thing. Still nice to see a smoother, longer shot that includes the three Resistance ships.
