Video and Article: Rep Won't Let Customer Cancel AOL Account
Time
Here's a little story for you, my grandmother had never touched a computer before in her life as of four years ago. No desire, no need. Then my grandfather died. While my mom and uncle were down there for the funeral, they bought her a computer. And they signed her up for AOL. Within three months of using AOL, my grandmother e-mailed everyone saying that she was having a change of e-mail address as she couldn't stand AOHell. My grandmother, at 80 years old, was wise to how shitty AOHell was.

And friends of mine thought I was insane for dumping it back in '98. Best decision I've ever made.

That would! Asking about Jesus is risky, because they may actually have and then you're stuck in a religious discussion (unless that's what you want). Asking about Scientology would likely turn them right the hell off. Then ask if they have accepted Xenu as their Lord and Savior. YEAHHHHHHH!

Net Neutrality or SAVE THE INTERNET!!

I don't give a rat's ass. If the site is worth visiting, I'll visit it. They can't block it out entirely or class-action lawsuits will ensue. And they will. I guarantee it. I'm not going to cater to my telco's pandering bullshit. I will go where I want, when I want.

Honestly, I don't think it's going to be as bad as people make out. What will wind up happening is that people will be calling customer support at their providers 24/7 and setting up service calls. These consistent calls are going to wind up costing the providers so much money that they will naturally phase out the source of the problem.

At an extreme... You want to know what this could result in? More competition for the telco's stranglehold on broadband access. If this causes enough of a headache, people will start to develop truly independent networks that will receive funding from some of these sites that are being misrepresented by the telcos. And you will have people sign up for service with them. If it gets bad, I'd do it.

Well, Bossk, it looks like both Wikipedia and I were wrong. According to my book High Score! The Illustrated History of Electronic Games, it was released in 1983!

Go figure, right?

So this means they support the telco's right to bill for faster service? What a load of shit.

Just this week, I received a reply letter to my complaint to Speaker Hastert. It was vague on where he, personally, stood. But, even if he was for it, it doesn't seem to have been enough.

Well, personally, I don't care. I'm going to keep frequenting the sites I always frequent. I don't give a shit about "preferred site status" or the like. I'll wait if I have to.

Oh, and did you all know that the Wii will be able to play more than just old Nintendo games? It will also be able to play old TurboGrafx 16 games as well. BONK... here I come!!! (maybe this was discussed already; I'm too lazy to go back and look)

The age is an approximation. It is really dependent on the amount of high-pitch hearing loss you have and that amount lost will be different from one person to the next. But this range of loss usually starts to present itself once a person reaches 20. That's why the distinction was made. Not everybody will lose it, but, for the most part, people will.

Oh yeah, 31 and I could hear it perfectly.

I'm with you, YIYF. The last time I really wanted a console from the get-go was the Super Nintendo. I never bought a Playstation, it was given to me about a year after the PS2 came out. Then I traded in the PS1 for a PS2 about two and a half years into the console's life. And I got a GC for Valentine's Day in 2005. Or maybe it was our anniversary the year before that.

The Wii on the other hand... YES!

Yeah, actually, I've heard that this can be quite an effective technique - making selfish purchases seem like selfless ones. If you talk about how it can improve your relationship or family closeness, it might help...all this, AFTER purchasing it, of course.

So, by this rationale, purchasing porn could be viewed as a marital aid and, therefore, a good thing, eh? I'll try explaining that one to the wife and give her your name and address, okay?

Like those old antiquarian book stores you find in some backstreet in New York (only movies instead of book, of course) - Mountains of movies, every title under the sun, and only Dayv knows where each and every one is. Any movie you want, they have it. A real movie fan's video store, the kind of place where you think to yourself 'I really want to watch *insert obscure movie*' and you just know Dayv's store will have it. Or even if you don't know the title, you just name the actor, maybe even just the storyline, and there's Dayv, climbing a ladder to get you the exact movie you desire.

And I'm sure they do stock the Special Editions, but I bet Dayv sets anyone who rents it straight

"Do you have that movie with that guy who was in that movie?"

And I would sure as hell hope that Dayv would never even let the poor sap rent the SEs. Go Mangler on his ass, Dayv! Then send him home with the real copies.

There's only been one other person, but he has since left the forum or receded into lurkerdom. I seem to have chosen an avatar that nobody really wanted to use which is fine by me.
