SUPERMAN RETURNS REVIEW
Time
I was truly afraid I was mentally overhyping it and I would be let down. That typically happens to me. That was not the case here. No letdown whatsoever. If you want an extended review. Check my blog.

Feel free to leave comments so readers of my blog who don't come here can hear more positive things about it. Or you can even leave bad reviews. I don't mind them.

Just no spoilers. Please.

Video and Article: Rep Won't Let Customer Cancel AOL Account

Oh, beg your pardon, a quick Google shows I was mistaken, it was Vermont, not New Hampshire. They had very strict laws regarding the construction of cell towers, although it appears to be loosening up now. But when I was a rep for T Mobile about, jeez 3 years ago, if someone was moving to VT, we would have to cancel their account because there was nothing to be done about it.

Seriously? Woah. I'm guessing that's no longer the case, though, right?

Quite the optimist, aren't you?

Not even an AC adaptor included?

I think that would be a big saving grace for airlines... include AC adaptors plugpoints for devices. Have them run off a separate power source than the plane does, obviously. But it would be great. And everyone would love it. Who wouldn't have need for it other than those who only read books or sleep in flight?

Exactly.

Really? So III and IV never happened or they just haven't gotten around to them?

***POTENTIAL SPOILER***

This six-year absence of Supes should be interesting in terms of its explanation. It looks like Lois has a kid now according to some studio stills.

I hate M. Night Ramalamadingdong!

I will agree with everything you said about The Sixth Sense, save for the idea that Pay It Forward was a good film (I'm sorry, but that movie came across as the biggest piece of self-righteous crap I've ever seen. Just my opinion, of course). Unbreakable did nothing for me. And, yes, anytime the aliens were not visibly appearing in Signs (except in silhouette or at a great distance; I hated the living room scene and the TV news footage) was pretty good. So I guess I can't really badmouth that one too much. I don't think there was a single bit about The Village that I really liked at all. Well, maybe Bryce Dallas Howard; she played blind very convincingly.

The difference between Night and all those others is that no one expects "greatness" from those others. It is expected from Night. And, to be honest with you, he hasn't lived up to it. Maybe he is a decent director. Maybe he has some nice directing tricks up his sleeve. But if the script ain't there, I don't think he should get the credit some people think he deserves. I believe a truly good director should be able to take a mediocre script and work wonders with it. Night hasn't even done that with his last three films (admittedly Signs was quite enjoyable until you actually see the damn aliens; then it was all downhill). And Night has no one to blame but himself since he does hyphenate as his own writer.

OK, I watched the clip and have to ask... seriously as I know many of you are about my age (35)- if this clip did NOT feature the John Williams 'Superman' theme would it be cool? If you're anything like me you could just listen to that theme with Martha Stewart or some crap on in front of you and *still* be moved. Its a theme, like Williams' OT Star Wars themes, that creates a nostalgic and emotional response.

Just curious, not picking on anyone- we like what we like.

You're absolutely right. I could be watching Bushie's State of the Union address and, so long as the Superman theme was playing in the background, I would never turn it off.

There's something about the new movie I don't quite understand... apparently, the new Superman, while not necessarily going back to the beginning, is supposed to, according to one source, "pick up after the original two movies." Did this guy screw up and forget that there were four original movies or is this one negating their existence entirely? No Richard Pryor?

I really wanted and still want a SuperGrafx. I can’t get my frau to buy off on the idea of paying over $300 to get an obsolete, 10-year-old system that only has 5 games.

To add to this, the TG16 was the first system to get it right. They had small card-style games in a sturdy system that could take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. But the best part was when they came out with their portable system... it used the same games as the full-size system. You just took your games out of the console and put them in the handheld and you never had to buy two copies of the same game. I can only imagine how much better it would be today with the development of memory cards. Transfer the game on its card and the game status on a memory card to your portable and pick up where you left off. Like syncing your laptop to your desktop computer and having everything exactly how it should be.

What amazes me is that no one has tried to replicate this idea since TG16. I know that it would cut down on profits, but think of the positive PR and the buyer loyalty it would muster. Especially Nintendo with the smaller discs they used in the GC. Find a way to encase them in a cartridge when needed to use in a portable just like the encased optical discs that the PSP uses. I think that would've been brilliant.
