Favorite Christmas Songs
Time
I loved Twisted Christmas. Still have it on cassette somewhere. I liked "I Am Santa Claus" to the tune of Black Sabbath's "Ironman". Great stuff.

My fave is "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Leave it to me...

"Hey Clarence! You been good... so Santa will bring you that new saxophone you been wantin'?"

Saddam Hussein Captured!
Time
I knew the stuff about the living conditions in Kuwait and whatnot. I also knew about the oil and our former alliances with middle eastern countries. Always cracked me up how we (the U.S.) are responsible for having armed all these people we now battle. We armed Afghanistan in its war with the Soviet Union and then we fought them. The CIA trained Osama Bin Laden and then we went to war against him. We armed Iraq against Iran and now we fight them. Ironically enough, doesn't The Last Samurai show how Japan tried to modernize its army by employing help from the U.S.? Then, like 70 years later, they're bombing Pearl Harbor? Yes, I realize Japan is not the middle east, but I wanted to point it out anyway. I'm waiting for some smartass to say, "hey Bossk, Japan is the far east, not the middle east."

We just need to keep our weapons to ourselves.

If y'all can't create your own armaments, then you are SOL. And dems da facts, Jack!

"How do you like dem apples?"
"I don't like the sound of dem apples, Will."
"Chucky, it's huntin' season."
*SHOTGUN BLAST*
"Applesauce, bitch."

I'll be honest and say that no I don't know the whole story. I never did much research into it and only heard what the U.S. media presented. I take their "facts" along with "facts" that I read elsewhere or saw on TV programs and develop my own conclusions. I doubt anyone really knows the "whole" story. There are always subtle little nuances that never see the light of day in situations like this. But please enlighten me a little bit. Seeing as how I haven't really thought much about it in nearly a decade, it would be nice to have a refresher.

Wanted: Replacement Vinyl Capes
Time
That's a damn good question. I have none of my snowtrooper capes or my Obi Wan capes. I do happen to have a Vader with a perfect condition cape (no arm tears or anything), so you can tell this was not the one I actually played with. My plastic capes went pretty quickly as I used to fold down the top to make it look like a lowered hood on Vader (he didn't have a hood so it made no sense to have the cowl sticking up).

Ouch. But I agree. Sadly.

-every time I hear about Pt. Jessica Lynch I want to vomit. Its the most shameless manipulation of facts to hollywoodize a war I've ever seen. Shame shame.

My wife and I agree wholeheartedly. Makes us both sick. A recent People magazine had reader reactions to an older issue with the whole Jessica Lynch thing in it. People were saying things like, "why is she spending all this money on a Vera Wang wedding dress when she could use it to help others?" or "She claims she was never able to meet with the Iraqi lawyer who helped her because her schedule was too busy... she was in a hospital recovering the whole time, what kind of schedule conflicts could she possibly have?" That sort of thing. Made us both laugh.

-'Three kings' is an excellent movie everyone should see

Damn fine flick. Brings humanity to the other side of the original conflict as well. I'm referring to the interrogation scene of Wahlberg's character when the Iraqi officer talks about his own family and how they were affected and how Bush lied about helping and all that. Great film.

-A lady I work with at the grocery store today cheered when she found out Saddam was caught. I asked her if she thought there was any chance of him getting a fair trial. Her response "They should just put him in a hole and shoot him." a minute later she admited that she didn't know the USA was even looking for Saddam, had no idea about the invasion of Iraq last April, and was not even aware why Saddam was a "badguy". But she reinforced that it was great that he was caught, and she hoped he died painfully.

Sadly, most of the citizens of the US are this ignorant. Many think that we invaded Iraq because they were responsible for the attack on the WTC. Ummm... no.

-I don't think Saddam and Osama have any connection to each other

They have some connection, but not the one that the U.S. is saying they have.

-It hink Osama was caught by the USA months ago, and is stuck in a cell somewhere. However just before the election, Bush will announce that they have "found the evil doer at last" which will conviently make Americans love BUsh again, at least long enough for him to be reelected and terrorize the world and squash the rights of hard working AMericans for another 4 years.

I think you said this a while ago as well and I agreed with you then, too.

-the chances of Iraq becoming a free democracy out of this whole thing are pretty slim IMHO, and if they do they will probably be a puppet nation for the USA.

No chance in hell that they will ever be "free".

And, yes, Wag the Dog was an incredibly eye-opening film. Amazing how easy it is.
