There are very few Scorsese films I don't like. The only ones that I don't like are Color of Money and Cape Fear (I'll take the original any day of the week... Robert Mitchum is the baddest Max Cady of them all). Can't say I was too keen on Casino either. Bit of a bore.

Goodfellas, on the other hand, is practically cinematic perfection.

Sean, I used to love the Narc game. God, I forgot all about that one.

Hutton Report and the BBC
Time
Hey, can anyone out there explain what this whole Hutton Report thing is that's going on in Britain? I know it has something to do with the suicide of some weapon's expert. What I'm not clear on is how it relates to Tony Blair's cabinet and why they're talking about how the Report could spell the end for the BBC. What role does the BBC have in all this? Help me out here.

True on Tomei. But, this whole year is proving unconventional to some degree. Keisha Castle-Hughes for best actress? Not that she doesn't deserve. I will be the first to admit that she was great in that role. But for the Academy to recognize her with a nomination blew my mind. If she wins, she will be the youngest winner. The previously recognized youngest winners (Tatum O'Neal and Anna Paquin) were supporting actress winners.

the butterfly effect
Time
I saw an E True Hollywood Story on him (or some such actor profile show) and he said he doesn't want to be pigeonholed as the dumbass. That's why he went after Punk'd so hardcore and is probably the reason why he did Butterfly Effect. I think playing Kelso pigeonholed him enough. He only drove nails into the coffin with Dude. He's holed already. No denying it.

Star Wars Error: Episode IV

No, I don't mean the use of the word "modern". I mean that they claim a year or some such like that. And then the movie is actually further on in the future.

Looking at movie-mistakes.com is helping to remind me somewhat. It's not the poster. The trailer talks about how in 2008, the dragons will attack and mankind will begin their resistance or something along those lines. Leading viewers to believe that the movie takes place in 2008. And they show the kid discovering the egg in the mines. However they don't tell you that this kid is the younger version of Christian Bales' character. Another 12 years pass before the action of the story takes place. The movie takes place in 2020. That's what it was. And to top that off, a feature on the DVD talks about the movie taking place in 2084. I think they need to get their stories straight.

I'm not surprised based on its "uncharacteristicness". Recall Kevin Kline in A Fish Called Wanda? Hell, he went beyond just being nominated and won the award.

I still need to see CONfidence. But, on the Rachel Weisz tip, I did see Runaway Jury and it was good.

I saw Rush years ago and it was great. Patric is a highly underrated actor. I still listen to the Rush soundtrack regularly. Great Eric Clapton music and it's the first CD to have the studio version of Tears in Heaven. I hated the Unplugged version. Hell, I hated the whole Unplugged album that Clapton did. That version of Layla pisses me off to this day.

SE Trilogy on DVD coming this Fall
Time
This would be cool so long as it does not have the Digipak layout. I've heard nothing but horror stories about the Alien Quadrilogy digipak because of the nine DVD trays in it and how difficult it is to just lay the thing out and keep unfolding it to get to the disc you want. Also, because it's cardboard, it will eventually tear in the corners. I'd rather have the nice box set like Indiana Jones. I really dig that. Digipak is okay with sets of four discs (LOTR, Friends, Simpsons), but even that gets a bit much to balance in your hands trying to pop out disc 1. And who here hasn't felt like they were going to shatter their DVD when trying to remove it from the Digipak tray the first time? I'm scared to death trying to get that disc out.
