Sounds like all sports in general. A rookie tight end for the Cleveland Browns named Kellen Winslow is holding out on going to training camp because he thinks he deserves a US$40 million contract for however many years. The Browns are offering him $22 M for those years. How can a rookie think he deserves that much when he hasn't even played professionally yet?

Yeah, but even that becomes difficult when you take into account inflation population. Plus the boom in the number of theaters making it easier to see movies. If all these theaters had existed back then, how would viewing patterns change? Also, you must consider the number of younger adults and teens these days with disposable income that they can now use to see movies as opposed to teens of the past. No matter how you look at it, it's very difficult to truly gauge an old movie against a new one. There are just too many factors that have changed. Even the number of tickets sold isn't a good indicator.

Coyotes Sign Brett Hull

GLENDALE, Arizona (Sports Network) - The Phoenix Coyotes (news) have signed veteran right wing Brett Hull (news) to a two-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hull was reportedly deciding between Phoenix and the Dallas Stars (news), but ultimately chose his former agent over his former team.

Coyotes general manager Mike Barnett was Hull's agent when the star forward was in St. Louis. Hull is also friends with Phoenix managing partner and former superstar Wayne Gretzky.

Hull, who will turn 40 on August 9, spent the last three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings (news), helping them win the Stanley Cup crown in 2002. He scored 25 goals and added 43 assists in 81 games for Detroit last season.

"Brett Hull is one of the most talented goal scorers in NHL history," said Barnett. "He is a dynamic player who creates excitement every time he enters the offensive zone. He has contributed significantly to winning Stanley Cups in both Detroit and Dallas. We not only look forward to the experience and passion he will bring to his teammates here in Phoenix, but also to the pure entertainment he will provide to our fans."

Hull is third on the all-time goal scoring list with 741 in his Hall of Fame career, trailing only Gretzky (894) and Gordie Howe (801). In 1,264 NHL games, Hull has also notched 649 assists for 1,390 points.

The Coyotes will be Hull's fifth NHL team. He was originally a sixth-round draft choice by Calgary in 1984 and played in just 57 games with the Flames before a March 1988 trade to St. Louis, where his career began to flourish.

Hull spent 10 1/2 seasons with the Blues, including a brief stint as Gretzky's teammate toward the end of the 1995-96 season. He had one of the most amazing seasons in NHL history in 1990-91 while with St. Louis, scoring a career-high 86 goals and 131 points on the way to Hart Trophy honors as league MVP.

The 86 goals were the third-most in NHL history, trailing only Gretzky's 92 in 1981-82 and 87 in 1983-84.

Hull signed as a free agent with Dallas on July 3, 1998 and helped the Stars win the Stanley Cup in his first season with the franchise. He scored the Cup- winning goal in triple-overtime of Game 6 of the 1999 Finals against Buffalo.

After three seasons with the Stars, the Belleville, Ontario native signed with Detroit before the 2001-02 campaign.

Hull, a three-time goal scoring champion, has reached the 70-goal plateau three times and the 50-goal mark five times during his illustrious career. His 103 playoff goals are also fourth on the all-time list, trailing only Gretzky, Mark Messier (news) and Jari Kurri.

Hull has been selected to play in nine All-Star Games, earning MVP honors in 1992, and has been chosen as a First-Team All-Star three times.

The two-time United States Olympian (1998, 2002) will also represent the U.S. at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey later this month.

Okay, Seinfeld's DVD release was originally supposed to be just season 1. Then it became season 1 and 2. Well it apparently is now season 1, 2, and 3...

Early 'Seinfeld' Episodes Coming to DVD
By Marla Matzer Rose

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The first three seasons of "Seinfeld" are coming to DVD Nov. 23, just in time for Festivus.

The episodes will be available in two four-DVD volumes as well as combined in a boxed gift set. Each volume will include about 12 hours of new content and have a suggested list price of $49.95, said the set's Sony-owned distributor, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.

The gift set will have a list price of $199.95 and will include such quirky extras as a limited-edition script from co-creator Larry David, "Monk's Diner" salt-and-pepper shakers and collectible playing cards.

In all, 40 original episodes are included in these releases, including such notables entries as "The Chinese Restaurant," "The Pez Dispenser" and "The Boyfriend" two-parter featuring Keith Hernandez.

Amid recent reports that key cast members Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Richards and Jason Alexander (news) might not participate in the added content of the DVDs, negotiations "lasted about two minutes," said "Seinfeld" executive producer Howard West. He said they agreed to take part in the project in exchange for participation in the profits of future DVDs.

Columbia TriStar president Ben Feingold said "Seinfeld's" marketing budget "will be enormous and will be similar to any of the big feature films released in the fourth quarter this year."

"We've been working on this for a couple of years," Feingold said, adding that the episodes have been newly enhanced in high definition for the DVD release. "We're continuing work on the entire property, including subsequent seasons."

Extra features on the releases include audio commentaries from cast members, deleted scenes and never-aired stand-up comedy footage of Jerry Seinfeld, who created the series with David.

West said promotional partners on the DVD-only releases would include America Online, Microsoft, Coca-Cola and Regal Theaters in addition to such mass retailers as Wal-Mart and Target. Regal will feature onscreen ads for the DVDs beginning in November. He added that the studio also plans to cross-trailer "Seinfeld" on the DVD release of "Spider-Man 2."

I think I'll be sticking to the two individual sets. Don't need Seinfeld salt shakers.

I'm constantly using my VHS for recording and playback of shows and movies from TV. While we have pitched a majority of our pre-recorded VHS, there are still a few lying around (mostly ones my wife and I bought for each other as gifts and therefore have sentimental attachment to or ones that we cannot replace with DVD yet like my SW trilogies).

Do most S-VHS players come with a combo of S Video and RCA out? Or is it just S Video out?

I'm thinking it might be even more expensive than that. The PS3 would have BluRay and full online gaming capability. Plus you might see an expanded hard drive in the machine. Now if only we could get a PS3 with TiVo in it.

I'm scared to think what the game discs will cost.
