Does anyone have any Deleted Scenes for the Original Trilogy?
Time
Reg, while I agree with your arguments and I, too, viewed Stormtroopers as a volunteer or drafted army of actual humans and whatnot, it's hard to argue with what Lucas says in commentary. Maybe at the time of the original release of the OT, this was not the case. And it can be argued as such by looking at physical and vocal variations in the Stormtroopers. But I wouldn't doubt that if Lucas could go back now and make all these "differences" uniform among all Stormtroopers, that he most certainly would. And, given time, he might just do that (2007 30th anniversary release?). Please, let's not give the man any more ideas.

I agree, but you cannot take a live-action franchise and suddenly decide to make it CGI. It won't work and I guarantee it. Imagine trying that with Indiana Jones. You just can't take recognized actors who are known for these roles and sub them out with CGI. There will be severe popular backlash. CGI for aliens, while I prefer makeup, is still fine. But to sub out human actors for CGI. Nuh uh.

Sorry Switch. Missed your post. Nope, haven't tried Firefox yet but I've heard good things about it. Only problem with Mozilla products right now is the lack of a rich text editor in it. It has some problems with some of the functionality in several forums. No problems here, thankfully. But in another forum I belong to, I can't get any of the toolbars and emoticon options. Weird how that works.

I had forgotten that Bishop was even in Alien3. Guess when you want to supress bad memories, it really is possible to do so.

Chaltab, that's just the SRP (Suggested Retail Price). The regular store price will like be between US$50-60 with first-week sale prices of US$40-45. All movies and other items that are sold have what manufacturer's refer to as the SRP or MSRP. This is what the manufacturer sees as being the ideal price. Almost never holds up once it's on the shelves. Usually just a bit lower. The SRP on the Simpsons sets are about US$45-50 and they have a pretty common shelf price of US$35-40.

I think the animation is incredible, no doubt. But to replace a live-action franchise with CGI? Hell no. I'd rather never have anything new from LFL ever again then put out a CGI ep 7-9. How would you explain that to the fans and the critics?

"Uhhh... well, we, uh, really wanted to do more movies, but Harrison, Mark, and Carrie shot down the idea. So, we, uh, kinda had to go the CGI route. But, don't worry! This is Lucasfilm! It's the highest quality CGI out there. You guys will love it, trust me. How can you go wrong with story and CGI ideas from the company that brought you the PT?"

'Nuff said.

Freddy and Jason...and Ash?
At this rate, Godzilla and Gamera may be getting sniffs from development execs.

Days after the pairing of rival screen monsters in Alien vs. Predator topped the weekend box office, E! has confirmed filmmaker Sam Raimi is in talks with New Line Cinema about loaning the studio the zombie slayer from his Evil Dead movies to costar in a three-way, big-screen bout, Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash.

New Line has been looking for a way to sequelize its 2003 hit Freddy vs. Jason since even before the movie grossed $114.3 million worldwide.

A franchise-melding flick on its own, Freddy vs. Jason teamed psycho Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street series with hockey-masked madman Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th franchise.

Last August, Creature-Corner.com reported that New Line was considering Evil Dead's Ash for the lineup of a Freddy vs. Jason 2 project.

In March, Freddy vs. Jason director Ronny Yu told the Website he was interested in corralling the three iconic horror characters.

"I would definitely do it," Yu said on Creature-Corner.com. "They're still working on the script. I haven't seen anything yet. I hope they won't work on it for 10 years."

Though Raimi is best known as a director, he would not call the shots on Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, Tuesday's Hollywood Reporter said.

The filmmaker, now graduated to the box-office big leagues thanks to the Spider-Man movies, owns the rights to the Evil Dead characters, having cranked out the original 1979 movie independent of the studio system on a barely there budget of about $350,000.

B-movie legend Bruce Campbell (news) played zombie-besieged Ash Williams in Evil Dead and its two sequels, 1987's Evil Dead 2--Dead by Dawn and 1992's Army of Darkness. The Reporter said Campbell, now 46, would be back in battle if the Freddy vs. et al. deal gets done.

Though it never worked for Ben Affleck (news) and Jennifer Lopez (news), costarring projects seem to work wonders for the careers of long-in-the-fangs genre characters.

Prior to Freddy vs. Jason, Freddy's series bottomed out with 1994's Wes Craven's New Nightmare ($18.1 million at the U.S. box office); Jason's hit a new low with 2002's Jason X ($13.1 million).

Alien and Predator are also benefiting by sharing screen time. AVP scared up $38.3 million in its first three days in theaters. As a solo space bad seed, Alien grossed a disappointing $42.2 million for the entire run of 1997's Alien Resurrection. Predator managed just $30.7 million for 1990's Predator 2.

Other characters in need of box-office boosts who might consider checking their egos at the door: Child's Play's Chucky, Halloween's Michael Myers, the shark from Jaws and Kevin Costner (news).

Sadly, I enjoyed both Wes Craven's New Nightmare and Jason X. Call me a freak.

Sam Raimi... how could you do this to me?

More Star Wars after 'Episode III'?

Posted August 17, 2004 at 10:06 AM CST

By John Couture

We have been told over and over again for the past three years that with next year's release of Revenge of the Sith, the Star Wars galaxy will be closed for good. But now, it seems the black hole set to swallow up George Lucas' galaxy far, far away might be on hold for a few more films.

TheForce.net, the premiere online source for all rumors even remotely related to Star Wars, is reporting that they have received an email from a Bothan spy with information from deep inside Industrial Light & Magic.

"You didn't hear this from me, but you might be curious as to why everyone at ILM just signed NDA's saying that they will not discuss Star Wars EP7, 8, or 9. Since they're not being made, why the NDA's?"

NDAs, of course, are those media unfriendly Non-Disclosure Agreements that Lucas is notorious for. Of course, this is only speculative at this point, especially since Lucas has denied numerous times that he will ever go back and develop movies set after the events of the original trilogy, but it is interesting nonetheless.

You're not missing a thing, Ric. For me, I knew it was bad when, although they are supposed to be spoofing horror flicks, SM3 opted for a focus on 8 Mile of all films. Now, I know it can be argued that the life story of Eminem on the big screen is, indeed, horrific (although I enjoyed the movie, save for the "acting" of Brittany Murphy), 8 Mile does not constitute a horror flick to be spoofed.
