Class Action lawsuit?!?
Time
CaptainDumbass, I wasn't taking it seriously either. I entertained the notion knowing that it was a joke (the winky) and just wanted to find out what legal ground there was. Mostly from a curiosity standpoint since I'm taking a bizlaw class right now and wanted to find out what I could.

Gundark wasn't serious either. I've known the guy for over a year and a half and he just looks at questions like this as a chance to further research his future profession and grill professors.

Before you jump to conclusions, unearth the facts. Right now, you appear to be the biggest ass in this thread because you made an assumption about what was going on (and we all know what happens when you assume...).

Back after TPM came out, a new version of the movie started circulating on video and on the web. It was known as The Phantom Edit because this guy, whose identity remained a complete mystery (hence "Phantom"), took all the complaints about TPM and reversed them, per se. He edited out almost all the scenes with Jar Jar, spruced up some fights, eliminated a lot of the infantile comments by Jake Lloyd, etc. I never saw TPE, but I heard the guy did a spectacular job. There was a lot of speculation as to who the Phantom Editor was, including speculation that it was Kevin Smith. But the actual guy started up a website and shot down all the rumors as to his identity. I think it has since been discovered who he really is, but I don't know it offhand.

Will anyone please video capture the "When Star Wars Ruled the World" Vh1 Special?
Time
Well, I think VH-1 was just trying to focus on how Star Wars dominated popular culture and not how Lucas is playing the revisionist card. That's probably why they restrained Smith a bit.

I don't know about Smith hating around here. I've never really experienced it to any really noteworthy degree. I'm a full-fledged Smith junkie. All kinds of View Askew love from me. I met the guy and he's just as cool in person.

Old Trailers...
Time
In the VH-1 "When Star Wars Ruled the World" special, I can't remember if it was Mark Hamill or Carrie Fisher who said they snuck into a movie that was going to be the first showing the SW trailer back in late '76 or early '77 and when the announcer says "coming this summer to a galaxy near you" (or whatever the original line was), someone in the audience chimed in "and coming to a late night TV broadcast very soon after that."

Funny stuff.

And yes, old trailers are very cheesy. Check out the trailers on the Young Frankenstein DVD. Yikes.

Nope. All I'm doing is having a conversation with a fellow customer. I'm not going to say, "don't buy it." That decision is solely up to them. I'm just going to inform them of the truth. I have a legal right to do that. Protected by the Constitution as I recall. I'm not going to cause a ruckus. I'm just going to say what's what. Which is what I've been doing. Besides, I've heard the same information espoused by Best Buy employees. They don't care. They don't get paid commission.

Class Action lawsuit?!?

Well, the definition is one thing. What we really need, though, is the statute of limitations on cases based on false advertising. Effectively, we need to know if a class action lawsuit could be filed on false advertising that happened in the late 70s/early 80s. But there might be a loophole that could be exploited by saying that we were not given information that this advertising was truly "false" until just this past year in which case we wouldn't need to worry about statute of limitation. If it was false advertising back in 77/80/83, we would have had no way of knowing because Lucas never said it or gave any indication of it until just this past year.
