This one was great...

(one star) It's like McCartney re-recording Beatles, September 21, 2004
Reviewer: Gregory Saracino (Malta)
Sorry folks. Releasing the versions like this is the EQUIVALENT of Paul McCartney going back and re-recording the Beatles albums with all the modern technology. That would be interesting and maybe even cool. However, it would TOTALLY BLOW if the *new* versions were the ONLY versions available on CD. DOESN'T THIS SOUND RIDICULOUS? I will never buy these and instead, give in to piracy. In fact, stuff like this makes me hope that piracy is the END of Lucas.

An article of lies and disgust - George Lucas talks re the 2004 OT SE DVD release...

The Star Wars DVDs and Episode III will be sales bonanzas, no doubt. But they are not going to be record setting in terms of overall DVD sales and beat all the other record holders nor will ROTS be a top-five movie. They just don't have the overall appeal that a Shrek 2 or a Titanic or a Spider-Man has. Just won't happen. TPM became a bonanza because people saw it as the first SW movie in 16 years. Then, they all felt burned by it. That's just how it is. That's why AOTC sold $120 million less in tickets. Many people gave up after TPM. They just didn't care anymore. Sith will be the same way, I fear. Many people just won't want to see it. The DVDs will do well. But for LFL to say that they will be the best selling DVD set of all time is going a bit overboard (I think they made that projection, didn't they?). The big green ogre is gonna slap them come Christmas.

Chaltab, look at his classification under his avatar... "CAPITAL Punishment". It's that way for a reason. He's been typing in all caps for a lot longer than you've been here (if you look at his signup information, he was the second person to register for the forum). You just kinda get used to it.

Plus you have to take into account all the one-time posters whose messages were deleted before the Great Post Purge of November '03.

I think a lot of people sign up as soon as they sign the petition thinking that they will post on the forums but then just decide against it for whatever reason. Jay has links to join the forum all over the place so it's pretty easy to do. Whether or not a person remains committed to the idea is something else altogether.

Will anyone please video capture the "When Star Wars Ruled the World" Vh1 Special?

For people who haven't seen it, I just wanted to share my favorite line from the whole thing. Jeremy Bullock (Boba Fett) being interviewed and saying, "Now that I am a Pez and a Lego, I don't want for anything more." That line made the whole thing worthwhile.

VH-1 really went balls out on interviews here. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Jeremy Bullock, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, Irvin Kershner. I can't remember if Kenny Baker and Warwick Davis were actually interviewed or if they were just in archive footage. It's worth the download time once the link is posted.

Kevin Smith could do it. Yeah, I know he's done nothing other than raunchy comedies (save for Jersey Girl), but he's such a big fanboy that I think he could write a killer story. I dunno if he'd want to direct it, though. He already backed out of Green Hornet as a director, but will still write it. I just think he'd be good. He has enough exposure, love, and knowledge of it to pull it off.

And also, we don't know that Padme dies. It would be unlikely because she has to live long enough for Leia to have memories of her.

Lucas has changed so much of the mythos already, what's to stop him from totally screwing this bit up?
