Well, they almost always take liberties with novel translations to the big screen. Closest adaptation I've ever seen has been Mystic River. Great book, great movie.

I agree that Ronnie has been rather mainstream, and I do also hold contempt for his ruining of Dr. Seuss' legacy. But, for some reason I still give him a chance. Can't explain why, but I do. And I loved A Beautiful Mind. Yes, Gundark, a masterful performance by Connelly (and Crowe, and Bettany, and Harris)

sorry Bossk.

Meh. No big deal. I don't really expect the Bears to do too well anymore considering half their starting lineup is out for the season. This season's shot.

But hey, we still beat the PACKERS!!!!

Sorry, Motti.

You need to amend your statement to read "although they lost last weekend in a good match against the colts and yesterday as well against the giants and the week before that to the Bears. aie aie."

I dig on Ronnie. I always give him a chance.

None of those actors are necessarily being pursued for the role, per se. They have all expressed interest in it, though. I hope they go with someone else. But, of those, I would like Tom Hanks the best after seeing him in Road to Perdition. No Russell, no Hugh, no George. Actually, all things considered, no Tom either. But, like I said, of those four he is who I like the best.

While I, too, am sick of hearing this, I do not deny that it is true. But as I've said before, if Michaelangelo were to come back from the dead and claim that the Sistine Chapel were half done or that David really should have arms (or any artist and his work for that matter), I would expect him to leave the original available and then recreate their "to be finished" work elsewhere. Something that has been a part of the public consciousness for so long cannot just be denied its right to exist. Even I archive previous versions of websites that I have created.

Jimbo, I would be interested to see what you have in your collection. Maybe not so much for "insight" purposes, but just out of curiosity. Cool to see what makes a person tick. Find any of Gundark's posts and click on the "My DVD Collection" link in his signature file. There's a website with a program you can download to set up a DVD profile. Actually, DVD Profile may be the name of the site. Not sure. Check it out and post your list. I've been thinking about doing it too but I have nearly 200 DVDs and not enough time in a day. Maybe when I finish my two classes that I'm currently taking.

Just gotta find a way for the Profile program to allow me to list my bootlegs of the SW OT...

Actually, that's not entirely true. I went through the latest issue with a fine toothed comb and found a snippet article about the trilogy. Something like page 185 in the far left column. It was entitled "Film Controversy of the Month" or somesuch. It just had blurbs about the trilogy being released and the controversy surrounding. There were two outside quotes in it. One from some guy on TF.N about how he's disappointed that the O-OT is not being released. And one from Kevin Smith saying that the extremist stance some are taking is a bit ridiculous and saying that it's not as though Humphrey Bogart was replaced in Casablanca with Steve Guttenberg.

Load of crap.

Shit, man. You speak for many Americans as well.

As for who do I support? I dunno anymore. I'm very much against Bush for what he has done to our country in terms of international relations. Every bridge that was built by past presidents has been torn down to a furious pile of burning rubble and I don't like that. In this day and age, it is essential that countries get along moreso than at any other time in human history. We don't have to have the same beliefs or governmental systems or religious ideals or anything, just respect for each other's right to have those beliefs, systems, etc.

If Bush is going to use the "we had to liberate Iraq from the tyranny of an improper political system" argument, what's to stop another country that doesn't believe in democracy from attacking us for the same reason. Why do we have to be World Police? I don't like it. I think we should all work together as a truly multinational group to make things right. There is no reason for the U.S. to go above the UN (yes, I do believe that the UN is severely flawed in many ways as well) and invade Iraq. We have no right and the justification was just too weak. If Kerry is being accused of being a regular Eggo, then just look at the Bush administration and the multiple ways it has had to cover its ass in the justification of the war in Iraq. 'Nuff said.

For these reasons, I'm supporting Kerry. I don't believe he is a great candidate, but much like in 2000, he's the lesser of two evils.

That's really all I'm going to say. I don't want to get in a political debate with anyone. But I have been staying too quiet for too long.

I'm spent.

McCain in 2004!!!

Oh... shit.

Yep, some magazines can pull 'em without notice. It's the editor's prerogative. And I doubt that any writer, after finding that their story has been pulled, is really all that concerned with contacting the subject to let them know. If anything, they're going out and getting liquored up or pissing and moaning to their editor or to a significant other.

In other news, my local B&N did not yet have the November issue. I checked the October issue's table of contents pretty thoroughly (once I sifted through the 30+ pages of ads before it and in-between the multiple table pf content pages) and it wasn't in there. Unless it's really tiny and unlisted, which wouldn't surprise me. Maybe I'll go back and check again.

I'm having trouble remembering and am too lazy to look back. Is it supposed to be the October or November issue? Now I'm wondering if it is supposed to be the Lindsay Lohan cover.

AMEN! I can't stand IE on a Mac. And Safari has more than its fair share of problems. I've been running Camino lately which is the Mozilla Mac browser. A couple very minor issues in how it lays out some text, but tolerable considering the IE and Safari problems I've had.

Star Wars T.V. 2006! Kevin Smith wanted?
Time
Having Kevin Smith on board would be cool, but I think he wouldn't want to do some big action sequence. Could you see him directing (and co writing) an episode revolving around some big Imperial Senate debate? Smith is the king of dialogue and I think he'd need to do something with a limited setting like a Senate sort of scene.

Senator 1 - "The Empire cannot stand for this sort of rebellion! We must stop them!"
Senator 2 - "Yo! I know what you need! A fatty, boom-batty blunt! Yo!"

Sorry, just hadda.

Focus on my idea and not on my example.
