Episode III trailer Nov 4 on Access Hollywood
Time
Well, they won't be leaving before it starts, but they are likely to leave as soon as the outtakes are complete at the end of the film (characteristic of almost all Pixar films save for Finding Nemo). So putting it at the end is just stupid. Plain and simple.

I agree with everyone here, no one will be buying tickets for The Incredibles just to see the SW trailer. No chance. People are going to see the movie. It's gonna be huge. I'll be there. But primarily for the movie. The SW trailer will just be an added bonus that is more than likely to make my wife roll her eyes.

Amen.

There were times when I thought Leia looked "aged" in ANH, but that was when I was young. Now, when you get the closeups of her (like her initial confrontation with Vader), she just looks so damn cute. A very tough as nails cute, but cute all the same.

That's the Loon, Shimmy. L - double O - N. You really need to proof these things especially if you are using it for the title of a thread. It's pretty damned important. That's like me starting a thread called "The Dahluhr".

And, no, I'm not his official interpreter again.

Episode Three Spoiler or No Spoilers?
Time
It all depends on what the subject is. I never read the end of a book first and there are some movies that I don't want spoilers on. However, we all know pretty much what happens in RotS so nothing really comes across as a spoiler to me. I don't think I'd be phased one way or another.

The thing with me is that I don't go out actively seeking spoilers. If they come my way, I don't usually disregard them. I'll read them. No biggie. But if it doesn't come my way, c'est la vie.

Discussion: Your most prized star wars collectible
Time
I have an old Star Wars kids watch. Blue band with artwork of C-3PO and R2-D2 on the face of it.

I also have a keychain that is a series of four highly laminated plastic cards riveted in one corner (with the chain coming off this rivet). You can spin the cards on the rivet to unveil one of the cards below. Each of the cards has an image from Return of the Jedi on the front and back. Never seen anything like it before.

My last thing is a Yoda pendant on a necklace still carded on an original (albeit beat to hell) ROTJ red card.

I love these three things.

Oh, don't get me started on this one. I'm in complete agreement with the rest of the world (outside my own country) on this point and that we, being the U.S. gov't, screwed the pooch on this little iota.

For the record, I did not vote for Bush in 2000, so please don't push for an embargo against us because we f'd it all up. We all know the U.S. couldn't survive an embargo. All our shit (or at least the components necessary to make all our shit) come from the outside world. I'd be screwed and I didn't even do anything to deserve it. Honorary Canadian or Irish citizenship, here I come.

I am 100% against the attack on Iraq, but as Lethe said when he started this thread, we are not to talk about WMDs and the current war situation or Kerry v Bush, so let's move on.

DVD Hilarity
Time
Sorry, I'm late to this thread.

I love the line from Justin's link, "The consensus around the office is that stepping on Jabba's tail to make him yelp is the equivalent of stepping on Tony Soprano's balls while sassily explaining why you didn't pay him back. It's not generally something you get away with, much less with a 'you're a wonderful human being' comment attached."

That's just classic.

And I have just one thing to say about HG's comic strip link, "A bonfire! Yippeee!"

I'm a happy little SW geek now.

Simon! Someone who feels the same way I do! Holy hell! I don't know what it is about that scene with her in the cell, but she looks so incredibly attractive. Maybe it's how her dress falls over her, maybe it's the mystery of "her", but I've never been so "intrigued" by somebody wearing so much clothing.

Bush and Nuclear Proliferation
Time
That would have to be one helluva big deal to warrant a nuclear weapon being launched against. As much as I didn't support it during the cold war, I can see why they existed. We had two of the world's largest nations gunning for each other. I think there might have been better ways of dealing with the Cold War, but the build up at the time helped avert a nuclear holocaust.

These days, however, with so many so-called "rogue" nations trying to build a nuclear arsenal, I think it's a bad idea for the U.S. to build up as well. If we do it, everyone else is going to want to and we're going to be aiming silos at thousands of locations on so damned many continents that it won't even be funny. While all of them just aim back at us. I really think that many of these smaller nations that want in on nuclear programs can be dissuaded through negotiation. We just have to try and be patient. We can't expect miracles, but a miracle is what we're gonna need if we use a nuke build up as a response.

The Bosox have been amazing in the last three games. I was getting so dejected after they lost their first three to NYY. It was truly pissing me off. I really want to see the Sox in the Series. And to think I was a diehard Yanks fan for a decade and a half. Weird, huh?

I guess there has been some potential interest in Sammy Sosa from the Mets. Dunno what truth there is to it. May just be the optimistic rumblings of disgruntled Cubs fans. But I'd like to believe it. There is in fact a window when Sammy can be traded this off season without any input from him (he can't veto the trade or anything else). I just hope the Cubbies take advantage of it. Let's lose Sammy and Alou, re-sign Nomar, and make a strong run for Beltran. That would make for a good start to 2005.
