As much as that makes me shudder to think, I know it's just fantasy as the election will actually fall in 2252. Odd numbered decades, the election falls every four years starting at 2 (1972, 1992, 2012, etc.). Even numbered decades, the election falls every four starting at 0 (1980, 2000, 2020, etc.). Should Jeb Bush's great great great great great (yeah, you get it) grandson get in office then, it will be because the actual president, elected in 2248 will have died or been killed or be otherwise unable to maintain his/her presidency and Junior Bushie was the Veep, and not because he was elected. Just thought I'd point that out.

HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray

No, I disagree. Too much new equipment needed. The transfer will cost too much. I know I won't be buying into it for a long time because I have no desire. That much clarity of sound and picture truly mean nothing to me.

If it could work with existing equipment, it would catch much more quickly. But it doesn't, so it won't.

Whichever. She just looks good.

And I agree that Halle's getting too big for her britches. Wonder if the spectacular failure of "Catwoman" has knocked her ego down at all...

Not likely. I wish it would have, but it didn't.

Aren't they talking about doing a spin-off for Wolverine and a prequel dealing with the origins of Magneto?

I really hope not. Keep it in the X-Men series as a sidestory. Very side story. Any spinoffs and I think the series would wear out its welcome.

What if someone else had played Obi-Wan instead of Alec Guinness?

When you've had the long and distinguished career that Alec Guinness had up to that point and then be remembered for some scifi flick moreso than for the rest of his filmography that he spent decades establishing, I might be upset as well. Star Wars should be the icing for him, not the whole damn cake.

LOTR

Not officially. Still some negotiating to do as the rights to it are owned by one company and New Line wants to acquire them so as to be able to make it one with the LOTR movies. It was expected to be Jackson's next film until he opted for King Kong and I think he's got something else in line next. It is rumored to be the film version of The Lovely Bones.
