Okay, now I've developed a bit of a problem on my PC at work (go fig). I downloaded Firefox on that computer to use and it has reattributed the icons for major file types. Now, whenever I'm looking at the icon for a gif, jpg, tif, etc., they are all the standard Windows file icon. And all HTML files have the Firefox icon instead of the Dreamweaver icon which I prefer. I tried to change back the gif, jpg icons, but the computer can no longer find any of the standard file icons. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Where and how can I remedy this situation?

I hear ya, Switch. I'm the same way. I try not to play too many games that are too long and involved. I have a friend who is addicted to SIMS games and he neglects his family as a result. I've been told he's gotten better. And I know I could control myself, but the prospect still scares me. Hence why I play so many of the mindless games like Crazy Taxi and some sports games where I can play individual games and not run an entire season.

Well, right now, I plan to get NBA Street 3 since you can actually have Mario characters play against NBA personalities. Mario vs. LeBron James. That should be good.

Another one is the new Mario Kart. My wife loves these sorts of games and this is one we can play together.

Of course, like I said, I'm all over Rebel Strike. That was my primary motivation in wanting a GC. Gotta have those old SW arcade versions. I miss them terribly.

I also want RE4 but I'm not sure when I want to get that. It is likely to become one of their hit games in a couple of months and I might buy it then.

Right now, I've got Midway Classics volume 2 and Mario Golf. My wife didn't know what game to get for me, so she got me the Midway game. Great stuff. I have volume 1 for PS2. So to have vol 2 is nice especially since it has Narc, and Mortal Kombat 2 & 3. I got Mario Golf yesterday at Best Buy for $15. It was one of their hits games and Best Buy was having a 2 for $30 deal on all hits games for all systems. Most of the sections of hits games had been stripped pretty clean. This was the best of what they had left. And they even had a 64MB memory card as part of the deal so I nabbed it. 64MB for $15... I think so.

Report: NHL Season to Be Scratched Tuesday

TORONTO (Sports Network) - National Hockey League commissioner Gary Bettman is expected to officially cancel the 2004-05 season at a Tuesday afternoon press conference, according to The Sports Network of Canada.

Despite several last-ditch attempts to iron out a new collective bargaining agreement, the NHL will become the first major North American sports league to call off an entire season. The Stanley Cup will not be awarded for only the second time since 1893, as it wasn't given out in 1919 due to a flu epidemic.

On Sunday, the same day the All-Star Game was supposed to be played in Atlanta, the NHL and NHL Players' Association met for more than five hours with federal mediators. Much like other talks that have occurred in recent weeks, no progress was reported by either side.

Last week, Bettman imposed a weekend deadline for an agreement to be reached, finally giving something resembling a drop-dead date. If an agreement could have been reached, the league had in place a 28-game regular season schedule followed by full playoffs.

The main sticking point between the league and union remains "cost certainty," or a direct relationship between salaries and revenues. Last week, the NHL offered a proposal that would begin under the terms of the NHLPA's December offer, which included a luxury tax instead of a salary cap. However, the proposed deal included four trigger points that could have switched the CBA to the terms of the NHL's February 2nd offer, which included a cap.

The NHL locked out its players on September 16th, and the stoppage reached its 152nd day on Monday.

Copyright laws would tell you otherwise. Any copy that a person owns whether it is for personal or commercial use, has to be licensed. Now, if you are at work, a site license can be purchased in which case you need only buy one copy of the software and then pay a user license fee which is significantly less expensive than actually buying more copies of the software package. But sometimes you have to buy the licenses in bulk amounts which may not work out economically for a small company.

In terms of personal use, yes, each piece of software on your computer is supposed to be licensed (read "paid for") or you can be hit with some pretty big fines and jailtime. But only if they find you. Software, if you read the licensing agreement, can be installed on two computers only. So if you have two computers and one copy of Photoshop, by all means install it on both. But beyond that, you are in violation of copyright laws.

Apple started something kinda interesting with their release of OS X.3... you can buy a family license. In other words, every single computer within a household can use this one copy of OS X.3 for free. It costs maybe US$60 more than a single user licensed copy. And, depending on how many computers you own and how paranoid you are, it's not a bad deal.

Bear in mind that in this age of always-online broadband connections, tracking serial numbers on software is much easier. If you install another copy of any Adobe product on too many computers using the same serial number, they know it automatically as computers that are always online run the serial number against the home company's database each time it's launched. No way around this unless you disconnect your computer from the net.

That's not the same crime though. Think about it, if he had been accused and convicted incorrectly of a murder of a person (even if they weren't dead) and then got out and actually did it, those are two different actions or crimes. So double jeopardy doesn't apply.
