Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1
Time

Hey, I can't post a screenshot right now, but there's a slight glitch in the beginning of the movie.

In the opening shot as Vader's shuttle comes out of the Star Destroyer, it's on the planet surface on the far left of the screen.

It's so far left, in fact, I don't even see it on my TV; I noticed in on my PC while piddling around. And it's only 1 frame so it's not really distracting or anything. Just thought I'd mention it in case it may helpful to know about.

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1

Again, thanks be to Harmy (and Chewtobacca for the DVD conversion)

I don't know how often a anyone from Lucasfilm comes this way, but I hope we don't get Harmy any unwanted attention with talk of not buying the Blu-rays after downloading his Despecialized Editions.

I for one will likely not buy the BD's (especially if the rumors of Vader's New 'NOOOO' and other such foolishness are true)

But this certainly has NOTHING to do with these versions. I applaud Harmy and others for all their hard work restoring these classics in glorious HD, but if these restorations were not available I would still not buy the BD's. I'd still watch the lackluster 2006 GOUT 'bonus discs' before picking up the latest official updates.

Me: I will not buy the Blu-rays.

Lucas: Because of Harmy?

Me: No, because of what you've done... what you plan to do. You're going down a path I can't follow.

;)

Is GOUT resented?
Time

I think the sub-par quality of the GOUT was definitely deliberate, as if to say: "Here are the original versions you requested, now see how much better the new versions are?"

Thankfully there are people like Harmy here to give us faithful recreations of what the GOUT should have been.

I do agree that the quality of these "bonus discs" would have been acceptable during the infancy of DVD, maybe between 1997-1999... but in 2006? It indeed was a slap in the face.

Info & Offer: "Y2K Family Survival Guide" VHS hosted by Leonard Nimoy - any use?
Time

Anyone want this?

A few years back I bought the Y2K Family Survival Guide from a video rental store that was going out of business. I bought it because it was hosted by Leonard Nimoy and thought this little piece of hysteria from the late 90’s would be amusing, but I never got around to watching it and now I no longer have a VHS player so it’s of little use to me.

I don’t know if this is rare at all or is of any interest to anyone but I’d hate to just toss it out, so if anyone here is interested in preserving it I’ll gladly donate it.

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1
Time

I watched the whole thing the other day with my 4 year old (who is always asking to watch "Star Wars the Revisit" - mwahaha!)

And this time the eyebrows didn't bother me at all, probably because I wasn't specifically staring at them under a magnifying glass.

There were a couple of choppy spots, one I think in Jabba's Palace (I forget where exactly... maybe when they're shuffling out for the execution...) and the other was during Han and Luke's bro hug at the end. Anyone else see this? It may have just been my player, I'm not sure. Either way it was very short and not very noticeable.

Altogether it was amazing and brought Jedi back to the glory it held in my childhood.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Just keep trying every day or so, elbarto1. (maybe just through the site directly and not through JDownloader - I haven't had the best of luck using JD with that site)

I got the first 3 parts of the AVCHD, and then couldn't get past the captcha for 3 days or so, but I finally got it. It's definitely worth the wait.

Haven't watched the whole thing, but after skimming it I must say it looks incredible!

I have only one nitpick so far. Anakin's eyebrows look kinda blurry compared to the rest of his face. Of course I realise this is due to the quality of footage available, and not your skills as an editor. It looks as good as it possibly can, and the integration of the footage was done flawlessly. It just looks a tad bit off for an HD face to have low-res eyebrows.

But anywho, this is definitely the disc I'll reach for when I want to watch Jedi.

Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released)
Time

I nabbed the Star Wars Despecialized v1.0 and must say it was incredible!

So I was wondering how the DVD-5 of Empire looks as compared to Adywan's Theatrical Reconstruction (not just faithfulness to the original, but also in terms of detail, compression artifacts, etc)

Just wondering if it's worth getting yet another Empire DVD.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

It amazes me that anyone would even think about suggesting that a fan-edit of a movie, however popular it may be, should ever take precedence over caring for one's family.

Please take all the time you need and try not to let the ungrateful impatient ones get under your skin.

by the way, I don't really have good media player on the comp, so I threw the crawl into DVD Fab to look it over and it played perfectly with none of the anomalies mentioned on the previous pages. Looked perfect to me.

Jedi Dark Knight said:

the whole thing is to represent the metaphor: "needle in a haystack"; Han is gone, and they don't know where, and their haystack is HUGE, so the unsurmountable task is presented visually like that.

I don't remember, did they ever specifically mention Jabba toward the end of ESB?

I know Han said Jabba put a price on his head, and why not collect a double bounty, from the Empire and then from Jabba? Tatooine is the logical place to start looking, and it was their rendezvous point, after all. It seems they knew he would be taken there; I just don't remember if Vader or Boba ever mentioned Jabba...

Even if it is a galaxy, it doesn't necessarily mean it's their galaxy. It could be the next closest one. Galaxies do collide once in a great while, so it very well could be about to happen there in a few hundred million years or so, and in the meantime they're getting closer and closer.

(then again, I suddenly realized I don't know how the size of an oncoming galaxy would appear differently from one side of your own to another... I wonder if being on the opposite side would make enough of a difference for us to not see it during the rest of the saga... hmmm)

But I agree it doesn't really matter. Just throwing out another possible explanation. I'd be very surprised if that background was changed.

And by the way, you've got mud on your knees.
