Aurebesh's first appearance was ROTJ in 83, right? And even then, it's not really the same aurebesh as the more modern codification.
Anyway, keep in mind that the same film has English letters on screens, particularly the Tractor Beam controls.
That looks a bit suspect, what's it from?
timdiggerm said:Yeah, everything I've ever seen about what's what on an ISD has said that's part of the reactor.
Let's not forget most sensors aren't good enough to actually fill their stated resolutions with detail. Heavy handed mosaicing and denoising doesn't help clarity either. Lower MP camera with better innards can easily outperform high MP cameras.
'course this only applies to digicameras. Not sure how scanning is accomplished.
You're putting all the wrong images in my head.
Brb bleaching.
One of the few non-jews in Hollywood.
I think I spend too much time on /pol/..... sorry.
I've always wondered what exactly this is.
There's lots of discussions about star destroyers that I could find OTI. But they're all about how it'd fare against the Enterprise or whether the globes on the bridge are sensors or shields.
I can't seem to find anything about this semi-spherical thing underneath. I've always wondered what exactly it does. The rest of the ship layout seems sensible and functional barring what you think of those globes, but this stands out as a big ??? for me.
I remember my pan and scan VHS showed the final shot in widescreen. Suddenly bars!
But better than cropping off characters I guess.

Talking about specific resolutions is rather pointless when it comes to film. I don't know what test patterns they use or how they get them on film, but to say that film is DVD quality is ridiculous.
From my own viewings I'd say that 2k is maybe equivalent to a decent 35mm viewing, give or take. That is to say I've seen 35mm that was worse and 35mm that was better.
And I'd tend to agree that it's probably projection related a lot of it because there's this one theater that is always blurry regardless of what they show, and another that is crystal clear. But in the clear one 2k is substantially less clear than film. So I don't know.
Star Wars is also not the clearest of films so 2k is probably adequate for it in most cases.
I don't like Yub Nub. But Victory Celebration just feels pasted over and out of place... which it is.
So er.... crap?

Ugh, PAL speedup is infuriating. Anyway, nice catch msycamore!
I like the self-destruct thing.
PAL speedup is easy to spot because everything looks a bit cartoonish like an old black and white silent film that has been sped up. And everyone sounds like theyre on helium.
Especially amidala in TPM, that is just hilarious.
There is a glimmer of hope for the SW-only guys here, I hear a new comic is coming out that disregards everything after SW, including ESB.
Can't remember when or what it's called.
No, what I'm talking about can't be edited into existence.
And a second death star is already silly enough. 2 of them would just be stupid.
Whenever I reach the end of ESB, I want to see that *other* ROTJ with no death stars in it.
Some sort of alternate universe take would be nice. Comic maybe?
But, ah never gonna happen sadly. :(
The movie version is a bit butchered tho.
This is what I mean:

What do I like?
This
Pernille August is the only really great actor in the whole thing. And the scenes between Anakin and his mother in both films are the only ones that really lend any credence to the idea that this is supposed to be a tragedy.
NeverarGreat said:There really is something magical about the original end credits of Star Wars, isn't there? It just flows like pure inspiration, and the other end credits compositions for all the other movies just highlight the fact that the first one was perfect. The others almost seem forced (no pun intended) so that they can end on the same musical motif. It's actually jarring to have the Star Wars end credits at the end of ESB. That movie has a much different end, and should probably have had an entirely different composition to match.
I must admit it would have been nice with a little more ambiguity about what was going to happen in the PT. Even if you come right out of the OT, it's still nice if you have to keep guessing as to whos who.
Unfortunately AOTC is the extent of George's ability to write mystery.
It shouldn't have. Simple as that really. The entire premise of the prequel story is that anakin becomes darth vader.
They are prequels, that is, sequels set prior, chronologically only.
IV is the beginning, III is the end. This whole I-VI chronology nonsense is the problem, not spoilers.
All I know is he was incredibly annoying kiss-ass to listen to in the prequel special features and commentaries.
So erm... Episode I then?
The distinct vibe I've always had off of that movie is that it was simply supposed to be Obi-wans first big adventure. But then they forgot to take off their disguises from the beginning of the movie, the rest of the jedi council then wore those costumes too to avoid the ardous mental task of differentiating people by features other than a silly uniform. Can't have the audience doing that.
And then obi-wan was made qui-gon's apprentice to have something pointless to conflict with the council over.
But it does, what I wrote and what you wrote is exactly equivalent, only in so many words.
