Would you give up ESB in exchange for...?
Time
in my opinion, the Undestroyed trilogy, especially RotJ, is absolutely essential for the complete and satisfying experiance.

If it was just Star Wars, the deeper, spiritual meaning of the films (Family, redemption, forgiveness, love) would be non-existant and Star Wars would be just another brainless sci-fi shoot em up.

had push come to shove and the Undestroyed versions had never been released, at least we'd still have Luke's reunion with Han and Leia at the end of RotJ left reletively intact (admittingly, the most heartwarming part of the ending) although having to close your eyes afterwards still would detract from it.

I watch the undestroyed version of RotJ on a 51 HD TV in 16:9 zoom mode and it looked so good, at times I still fear that I had put the destroyed version in instead. even if it didn't look good, well, I'd rather eat out the rotten asshole of a roadkill skunk than see hayden Christensen's evil leer pasted on Sebastian Shaw's body.

the real treasure about those games is that they're based off of the Original theatrical versions.

the games were hard. Personally, I always played them using the Debug codes that gave you invincability. however, I still found the 3D stages to be a little too hard, particularly the ones from ESB, because you couldn't change speed and the animation was too choppy.

being a Castlevania Fan, I liked the stage where Slave Leia Takes on Jabba the best as she controls like a Belmont! (complete with a "Whip")

Anyone else totally disregard Leia being Luke's sister?
Time
All i have to say is that it adds some extra emotional punch to the ending (Luke and Leia's reunion is my favorite part of the RotJ ending, yes, even over Sebastian Shaw as Anakin's ghost, although he is still essential to the uplifting effect).

but I think on some levels it works and others it doesn't. for example, I believe Leia should have been the one who lead the final attack on the sheild generator; have Han get shot in the shoulder instead.

What do you love about Star Wars?

Yeah, so true.

"I love star wars for it's christian themes: Family, Forgiveness, redemption and Salvation.

(an effect which is totally lost with the destroyed 2004 RotJ Ending)"

Yes, great Christian themes like family, forgiveness, redemtion, salvation and WAR!!! J/K!

I don't know. As much as I loved those movies in my youth, I always found ROTJs original ending a little... gay. I liked the more somber music at the end. After all, it was the end of a great war, and much was lost. It is perhaps the one change made in the SE that I always felt was appropriate. Maybe it would have been better with less CG. Oh, but since you said 2004 instead of 97, then I guess you meant the whole "horny sailor" Hayden head pasted over Anakin Skywalker's head, not the Ewoks singing.

In reality, the only reason I prefer the original theatrical ending over the '97 one is because footage with the main characters is longer.

(Luke and Leia's embrace and Luke's wink to the spirits are the most obvious examples)

PS3 or Wii?

My friend got a Wii last night, and after a healthy dose of Zelda and Wii Sports, I must say this.

Wii wins. Period. This console is going to dominate the market for this generation. This is quite possibly the greatest console...ever. I don't think I've ever been this blown away by a new console. It's just....WOW!

I must have one.

....I need to see if WalMart or Rhino has a Kiosk where I can play it...

If not I might have to drive to Johnson City.

you might want to wait a week on that. apparetly a Nintendo representative has to visit the store and autherize it in order to activate it. I went to gamespot today and they had the kiosk set up, but it wasn't active and there were no Wii-motes.

Idea: for... Custom Made DVD Sets
Time
for Now, I have OCP's classic editions grouped in the silver box that came with the 2004 release of the trilogy, with Walt Disney's "Fantasia" taking the spot of the OT bonus disc. I call it my "victory" set, as Fantasia's ending is my second favorite movie ending next to the Original RotJ.

(I watch the entire Saga in the week leading up to the anniversay of the day in which 3 very mean former teachers of mine got fired, finishing with RotJ and Fantasia on the day itself)

I'll place the offical 2004 version of empire into the set, once I re-do the ESB case to reflect it, as that is the one 2004 version I prefer over the original.

What versions of the SW saga do you own (OT, PT, preservations, etc)?

That pretty much sums it up. Disney's "Fantasia" I keep in the DVD box because it features my second favorite movie ending next to the Original RotJ. Those are OCP's Classic editions in there.
the gold spined RotJ is the offical 2006 release with the OOt "Bonus Disc". to the right, of course, is the offical first releases of all the films.

I also have the 1995 THX widescreen and '97 pan and scan VHS in storage.

at least the evil leer would be gone(the #1 thing that I hated about the change), and the defining moment of the scene is there: shaw and Obi-wan sharing a look
