STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Don't forget the IG-88 that was moments away from taking over the second Death Star?????

On second thoughts....

It's really just a nerd problem and as a self confessed nerd it's not that much of a problem for me.

IG-88 looks like a single purpose piece of military (or paramilitary) kit so it seems a bit odd that there is one of his kind (whatever the colour) in a scrap yard on an industrial colony.

But then what is a slave boy doing building a protocol droid for his mother on a desert planet when she'd be better of with an ice-cream maker?

I'd imagine that as a visual sign of reperations after the Clone Wars the Seperatist droids would have been re-programmed to work on reconstruction. I could also imagine that civilians of former Seperatist world would be used a slave labour along those lines too.

The Death Star being (as of the PT) a former Seperatist weapons project may have used Geonosian and Neimodian tech and machinery in it's construction (a bit like Project Paperclip).

Assuming that the same machines used to build the first Death Star built the second there could be a long legacy of PT tech in the OT era.

I can't see a place where it would fit into ESB:R though.

It kind of makes sense that a general purpose droid like a Treadwell would be junked in an industrial community like Cloud City (there would be lots of them and eventually they would wear down beyond the point of economically viable repair).

Equally a place like Cloud City would get alot of visitors who's ships may need repairing and having a starship wall panel recycled sort of fits.

But it's a bit odd that they would have a couple of battle droids there (it's not an military site, it's not a bounty hunter's den like Jabba's Palace, a good case could be made for swapping some of the droids in EV-9D9's torture chamber for the battle droids here).

As I said before it's not as annoying as seeing the medical droids sitting in on the Rebel Briefing but it does feel a bit odd.

I suppose it could be argued that the IG droid and the 4-LOM looky-likey aren't battle droids and the the bounty hunters just modified a pre-existing model to serve their purposes.

And as the IG series are only identified as specifically built battledroids in the EU I guess it's easy to rationalise it in those terms.

IG-88 does look like a hard arsed piece of military kit though (much more than the battledroids in the PT do), I can't really visualise it cutting lawns or cleaning windows.

It's only really a concern for people who have seen the film so many times that they notice stuff like this.

I suppose as background 'salute' to ANH:R detractors the IG-88 could be replaced with a Imperial Torture droid with a burnt out electro-needle ;-)

Or less contentiously with a more anonymous piece of junk.

Some people like it being there as it could suggest some kind of hidden back story.

Personally I think it's a slightly less annoying manifestation of the same stage dressing laziness that put FX-7 and 21B in the Rebel briefing scene in ROTJ.

They built something so they wanted to get mileage out of the prop regardless of logic.

Sadly I think it might be dead. Haven't heard from Jambe in a while and it's been quite a while in the making.

Doc, as much as I love that Boba Fett picture it is a bit distracting seeing it pop up all the time, it would make a nice avatar but it might need taking down in size a bit if it's going to be a signature.

I'm sure Jambe's working hard on things, his projects are a lot of hard work and like the best things in the world they are worth the wait.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

I disagree with most of your points Mr Ghostface (though I too am not much of a fan of the electro-needle I think it's one of the few things Ady isn't really happy about).

I really prefer the restored original order of the scene in Ben's Hut, to these ears it flows more naturally and makes more narrative sense (Artoo has risked life and limb to get this message to Obi-Wan so it makes sense that he would deliver the message ASAP).

It's hard to be critical of Adywan for using a flipped element of a Star Destroyer when Lucas so liberally flips whole shots in his films.

As for praise, it's not easy to breath new life into a film that is so familiar and Ady pulled it of with such aplomb adding so much in an artform that has mostly been one of subtraction that it would be frankly daft not to applaud such a landmark.

ANH:R isnt meant to be the ultimate version of Star Wars (1977) this site was set up to try and get the best possible presentation of that film. It is a much better version of the Special Edition than the one Lucas gave us in 1997 and the slightly reworked version he gave us in 2004 and as such Ady fufilled his mission statement.

If you have any suggestions as to how ANH could be adjusted further please leave your observations on this thread http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Can-anything-else-be-done-to-ANH-after-Adywan/topic/10131/

And if you haven't already done so I suggest you check out the Purist edition which has all the clean ups but less of the editions you note an objection to.

Agreed but he does have a very recognisable formula that could become a bit stale if he sticks to it too rigidly.

I hope that Moffat is a bit more daring and open with chosing stories from other writers than RTD was.

RTD tended to pick a writing team (who were much of the same mind as him or they didn't last long) and if they didn't tow the line he freely admits to rewriting the whole episodes (we may never know how many he actually did write).

The show used to be at it's best when it had an open house style and picked stories rather than writers.

And I wish they would drop the Doctor in love thing, he's a bit old for all that hair pulling and running around.

I'd prefer to wait for a product worth the full DVD quality treatment.

Like dark_jedi said the final product should be worth the download and viewing on a big screen.

So from me I say take the time to make something you are proud to present to everyone, if the final product is rushed and still rough some of the tough detraction you have had recently will come across as justified.

The newer doctor whos are some of the best new science fiction that has been on television. Amazingly well written and casted, well most of the time anyway.

Well, pretty much all the ones that Russell T. Davies DIDN'T write were awesome. :P

I have to agree with you there Tooth And Claw, Turn Left and Midnight were great and the recent Torchwood thing was good too even if it was largely pinched off The Space Traders and The Quatermass Conclusion.

He does write nice little character moments but give him anything that requires Science Fiction ideas or an epic finale and he gets lost, most of those stories seem to based on playing early platform games, only Russell can take a joke from Galaxy Quest and take it seriously.

Basically he is John Nathan Turner with too much money to spend and the BBC behind him, not trying to trip him up.

Hopefully a change of lead writer will herald a higher level of story telling.

I'm just hoping that Moffat isn't going to be Gordon Brown to RTD's Tony Blair.

Ady sort had a similar problem when he previewed an incomplete section of ESB:R and told everyone that it was incomplete and he only wanted to show it to illustrate a particular point and a he got comments saying how wonderful it was and detractors saying how it didn't look too good (completely missing the point that it was incomplete and not to his high standard but illustrating a particular point during a work in progress).

Whenever you let something out into the wild, it doesn't matter how many disclaimers you attach to it or how much you insist it's not up to your standards, some people will ignore what you say and either praise it to the hilt and incorporate the ideas, even the elements you haven't finished working on into their own work regardless or they will slag it off for not being what you never said it was in the first place.

It's an inevitable consequence of showing your work, George Lucas has to put up with it all the time.

Fan editing is a cannibalistic artform and that extends not just to the original film makers and us but also between ourselves, it helps if we are polite and supportive of each other.

I'd like to see both Reborn and Renascent and with better quality sources becoming available I'd like to see this basic ingenious idea reworked with materials other people have worked on too.

Attribution is the least and possibly the most we can ask for, if an idea comes from someone else it's just good manners to give credit where credit is due and say thanks for the work of others that make other projects possible.

If helping someone doesn't appeal why throw rotten fruit when you can just walk away?

On the whole the people on these boards support each other and openly share ideas and that makes this place a really creative and fun place to visit.

It is easy enough to follow as I said before.

Visually this is constructed from bits of the DVD versions of TPM, AOTC and ANH:R so if you are familiar with that material do you really need to see it in DVD quality to figure out where the edits are?

If the quality of the screenshots are so offensive to you than perhaps it's right you shouldn't download it (though I can't see why you would make such a big thing out of not downloading it, surely one post explaining why gets the message across).

Any dispute between TJ and A-M is between them.

If A-M did use TJ and ID's material without express permission that would be bad form but as I said we all do it even if we are posting screen captures from the DVDs (I've never asked George Lucas' permission to stick naughty slave girls in his shots, I didn't even ask the naughty slave girls if they minded dancing for Jabba).

I was blown away by the material that ID and TJ put out and I was really looking forward to Reborn (and I still hope one day the idea will get the treatment it deserves).

This isn't their edit, it a different edit and I hope this one, when it's finished comes out well and is distrubuted to a high standard.

Until then I don't mind looking at the rough version and giving a few tips (if any enter my gnarled brain).

If anyone has a jones for the idea I've moved onto the wishlist thread, I can see what you mean but the idea could be done with just a few shots but here isn't the place anymore to talk about it because Ady has made his view known.

So yes in terms of this thread it's already rusty helmet stuff.

If the Empire aren't bad enough to shoot a few people (even men with Ice Cream makers) while taking over an illegal mining operation after the administrator and his security staff has just helped their commander lose his Emperor's prize (not to mention that feisty Rebel Princess again) then why are the Rebels fighting them at all?

It makes them seem softer than some of our own upstanding defenders of freedom ;-)

This idea was posted on the ESB:R thread but Ady isn't going to do it so I'm putting it here in case anyone else want to have a stab at it :

Not really a suggestion for ESB:R (unless it was an extra and Adywan has enough on his hands as it is) though if Ady likes the idea and can find a way to pull it off ithat wouldn't upset the pacing of the escape it might work in the edit proper.

To justify Lando's cooperation with Vader against Han & Co it might be a shocking addition to the the panic on the streets and corridors of Cloud City if we saw Imperial ships landing and picking off Cloud Cars (maybe even shooting the crowds ala OS Galactica).

It would underline how much Lando had to balance his responsibilities to the citizens under his care against his loyalty to his friends.

A lot of people still think Lando was a coward (Leia certainly gives him a hard time for it) for caving into Vader but if we see some of the consequences of an Imperial take over of the city the audience would get a better idea of what he had to lose.

It would also remind the audience that it wasn't just the Rebels that Imperials were utter gits to.

When we see Cloud City again during the celebrations we would also get more of an impression that their liberation was personal rther than a political abstract notion.

I was thinking of a few landing ships coming down as the panic starts and a few fighters clearing the area and taking out the local security, impressive as that view is it might be jewelling the guilded lilly to do something on that scale but I'm frequently wrong.

Well lets see what it would look like from all perspectives.

Sorry to hear about the back Ady, the better half was in similar agony when we moved the shed last weekend. Like dental pain, back pain is one of those nasty forms of discomfort that are almost impossible to get relief from.

Not as bad as gall or kidney stones though.

I'll move the TIEs attacking Cloud City over to the wishlist thread as you are clearly not going with it but someone might be able to use it.

I liked the way they evacuated the Hotel of Floston Paradise in Fifth Element. We could show hundreds of escape shuttles being attacked by ties.

Definately but only if it didn't detract from the pace of the escape.

A few shots here and there I think would be enough to get the idea across.

The way I saw it was that Lando's announcement caused panic and people either ran to the nearest ship or went out on the streets, the fighters were to stop the locals from protecting the escaping ships and to encourage people to stay indoors.

A few shots could be a powerful incentive.

JasonN's PT FanEdits (Attack of the Federation, Twilight of the Republic, & The Black Knight Rises) (Released) ** Revised V3 Cuts In The Works
Time

I've mentioned this in the Radical Redux Thread but I thought I'd post it here too (shame I didn't think about it before you did your edit but if you do another version you might consider doing this).

There were apparently a few lines in TPM script that could be put back in an edit using your blacked out, voice masked Sidious hologram.

When the Trade Federation are fretting about the Senate ambassadors being Jedi, Sidious says "You seem to be more worried about the Jedi than you are about me" he then delivers a Force Choke to one of them and warns, "My reach is greater than any Jedi".

If you found someone who could do a near Sidious delivery and manipulated the voice in the same way you did the rest of his lines you might be able to put this in. With his face obscured you wouldn't have a problem with lip sync.

It reminded me of how Vader delivered a little Force choke to Lando when he was warning him about altering his deal with a Sith Lord.
