Here's one for U :

I imagine the one I'm talking about is the PG or 12 one.
I prefered the Floella Benjamin ones.
Her intro had the notable phrase "some sexy scenes" delivered with the sort of panache that can only come from years of children's television.
A national treasure.
The objections to Lucas' redoing things is down to buggering things up and refusing to release the originals.
So I have no objection to revisions of Revisiteds (ANH, ESB or any other) if Ady wants to do it and has some improvement in his mind (be it to the edit or some added feature), they are his projects and the original version will be out there for sometime to come.
Nice to hear about the hard work going into the Slave One in the trash trail scene.
I can't wait to see how the final results turn out.
Wasn't it something like "and you call yourselves human"?
That seems to be more of an expression of moral indignation than emotional turbulence.
Leia possibly had been trained to keep her emotions in check and stay focussed on the task at hand but going by what she does in ESB and ROTJ she often let's that slip and that must have been one hell of an emotional stab to the heart for her.
If I were capable and desperate for work I'd go around all the restaurants and leave my details for kitchen porter/plongeur work (it was good enough for George Orwell and even if they haven't go work now if you leave details it save them the effort of advertising if a post becomes open) and I'd sign up with a temp agency.
All the emergency money posts I have taken doing this have ended up yielding great friendships and anecdote generating experiences and your efforts may rub off on your dad.
The great thing about those sort of jobs is that there is no need to climb the greasy pole (though you might have to clean it) of a career.
Seeing you doing it may inspire him to do the same, men tend to be competitive and it may turn into a race to see who can get employment first (so you might get the sofa free before a post becomes available to you).
If you get a job (even a dull one) you will have another thing to talk/moan about when you get home, you can contribute a bit more to the household funds, you'll have more financial independence so it's a win, win situation.
Having just seen the Dickies in Edinburgh I had to post this:
I'd be intrigued by an Alien only movie but I just can't see it happening, these are the same people who pulled Vincent Ward's less daring Alien 3 plan appart and Ridley isn't as daring a film maker as he was was many years ago.
With all the recent talk of starfield spinning, along with making all the Rebel fleet in ROTJ jump to the same vanishing point, it might be nice to add the spin to that shot too.
TK99 said: But as for emotional impact for the scene there is an almost impossible shot to fix that. A 3 second shot on Leia's face her face fixed in shock and mouth open and eye's welling up in tears but only one rolls down her cheek. Its simple, powerful and incredibly difficult to get but there are few shots of her face doing just that pose but only for an instant. Plus it would have to be cut with Obi-wan's look of shock too at sensing the death of Aldreeran.
It demonstrates how Lucas (ironically in a story about the human spirit trumping technology) is more concerned about the physical props of the story rather than the emotional sweep of it.
It's an irony compounded a bit by us all talking about making the bang bigger and more impressive so I'm really pleased that you made this suggestion TK99 as it might more doable than some of the ambitious additions Ady is planning to the Revisited versions (making models and sets and filming them etc).
Find someone with a reasonable resemblance to Carrie and film a teardrop rolling down her cheek (matching the lighting and grain).
That could add a real punch to the scene, possibly much more than any new explosion.
Luke gets a big reaction shot for the death of his family but Leia hasn't just lost her adopted parents, she's seen almost everyone she's ever known, millions of people, turned into ash and dust.
"Star Wars as you'll never wanna/wansta see it again", surely you would want to use the 1997 SE for that, George Lucas has already done half the work for you.

Bingo.
Yes?
In a word "no" but...biros (besides how many hairstyles did Obi-Wan have)?

Lots of people hear the voices and take them to be dead people asking them to do something.
There may be a scientific explanation for Force powers (but not lifeforms living inside all cells unless they are a very exotic form of life that aren't built on cells themselves) and belief in something isn't the same as something actually existing.
We don't know how lightsabers work (plasma blades contained inside a force field might be possible for a civilisation capable of faster than light travel).
No sound in space but there would still be sound inside ships caused by shock waves travelling through space.
So it's possibly doable, if someone wants to.
There is quite a lot of him in Dexter season 3 too.
I actually think a spherical shock wave (for the Death Star) would look better regardless of the science also a ROTJ style momentary egg crack before the big boom would be nice.
Alderaan should have a different effect. I rather like the idea of it seeming as if it be slammed by the beam and shatters like a conker.
The Death Star is blowing up from the inside where as Alderaan is being smashed from the outside.
They used to tell us it was our BBC, it's so nice of them to archive pages that people have scribbled all over (a bit like sticking children's drawings on a fridge door).
I must admit to LMTOWROTFWMLARTRROBARASMUing when I read that.
Who puts Roman numerals on a fork drawer?
Audio drama requires expositional dialogue to explain physical actions (because we can't see it).
Visual drama doesn't, it shows you the physical actions.
Merging these two together gives you the worst of both worlds, visual drama which isn't visual and is bogged down with expositional dialogue.
Besides the saber building itself spoils the surprise of the Trojan horse in Artoo.
All you would need to see would be Luke doing something near Artoo and perhaps his hatch shutting (like Leia putting the plans in him in ANH).
Which is why I moved the idea into Ben's hut because Ben would have the tools and books and merged it with Ben's ghost finishing the story about Anakin (bookending him starting the story in ANH).
It also looks (and I know this is rough) like Mark has hiccups and I can't see a way around that without not showing his face.
I agree, everything that makes that scene is still there with pickles.
I'm getting more noodle brained in my old age because it confused the hell out of me when I started reading ESB:R stuff here ( I thought I had clicked on the wrong thread for a several micro- seconds).
Are you the same guys who keep hiding the tea-spoons in the fork drawer?
Slightly off topic but my much bashed POTF Vader Saber just made sharp contact with the ground while preparing the second bedroom for a visitor.
Boy the plastic was brittle!
The bits were breaking into more bits just through the action of me picking them up.
What did they make them out of egg tempura?
As this happened to anyone else?
It was like Christopher Lee sunbathing.

Lol, I wouldn't wish to do that in any way for anyone. The things I have in mind are just subtle bits and pieces anyway that wouldn't detract from anyone's appreciation of ANH:R at all I'm sure. Although I haven't contributed to the 'after Adywan' thread in any meaningful way previously, nor even read most of it, I know that nothing can spoil this amazing edit for me as it stands overall now. It still impresses every time I get to see it.
So I'll catch up with that thread fully sometime, to see if anyone happened to mention any of the stuff I've got in mind, or not.
The thread was still quite young when it got rather hijacked by Janskeet's thoughts of the day but it's starting to spring back into life.
Hopefully it will turn into something a bit more useful.
It was intended to be a general ANH ideas thread like the Prequel Redux and ESB/ROTJ Wishlist threads.
Leper Messiah TR said:fuck you for that haughty answer, who do you think you are!
Charmed I'm sure.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Ady admit sometime back that the electo-needle didn't turn out as good as he hoped?
That is the only real bugbear for me.
The only other change I'd make would be possibly impossible :
Bingowings said:Forgive the roughness of these mock-ups but (and I appreciate how difficult it will be) the helmets of the Rebel pilots need more than just an insignia colour change.
Ady recognised this when he changed the insignia from blue to red but the clean helmet squadron don't appear in the battle so it's still kind of odd that get such prominant screen time.
Permission to Squee sir?
