Wookie Groomer's 1080p Star Wars Saga project (Released)
Time

You might find this thread helpful:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Thread-for-all-Usenet-vs-Torrent-vs-Rapidshare-discussion/topic/10677/

I imagine it wouldn't be much of an option for this project on most laptops because HD films drag like hell through most laptop media players.

Mounting a ISO or Disc Image is merely the process of opening it as if you had a DVD in your drive rather than a collection of files.

Most media players have this option somewhere if you explore the drop down menus.

It will open in exactly the same way so if the ISO has a Menu of it's own (like that on a DVD) it will appear on screen first and you will have all the same options you would have if you burned the disc and popped it into a disc drive.

The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

The thread is for ideas of a radical nature if someone can figure out the how, the idea is there for them to use, if not it's just a few lines in a thread with some equally difficult notions to realise.

Surely matching up a physical model with existing footage is just as hard for a adding a head in motion as it is for adding a CGI creature or a physical model of vehicle like a Walker to footage in motion.

At least the mask is as artificial as the model already is.

We are talking a lot of hard work but for such a pay off if someone is willing and dedicated enough to pull it off.

GL stated that he grievous should NOT look like vader.

Plus what you propose is near impossible to be done.

That's part of the problem. The PT is exactly what George wants as it is.

As for changing it sure it would be very, very difficult but I imagine not impossible.

Grievous is a model (a CGI model but a model none the less).

Some of the shots of Christopher Lee mapped over his stunt double were pulled off well (not all sadly) and that was one human head on the body of another.

The mask I linked to will soon be available to buy, film and scan and it's a model that can be mapped onto another model, surely easier to pull off than mapping a human head onto another human body.

The handling of the Vader's identity was really buggered up by Lucas so throwing in a bit of ambiguity serves the story better.

If I had my own way Grievous would look almost exactly like Vader so when Vader turns up in ANH first time viewers would just assume he was brought into the Empire as part of the peace process.

It seemed daft to me that Lucas wrote in a cyborg general and didn't try to pull something like that off.

Alien 3 Extended Edition (Released)
Time

There is no Director's Cut of Alien 3, Fincher will not revisit the piece as he had such a hard time making and living with the fallout of that film.

The Extended Cut is a re-assembly of most of the original material.

There have been a few fan edits (putting back the dog burster and queen chestburster).

Personally I would prefer to see a version with much of the story of the extended version but with most of the sillier dialogue cut and the film rescored if possible.

Some of the score is great but a lot of it blams in, in a bad way.

I'd love to hear some of Jerry Goldsmith's unused music for the first film replace some of the soundtrack.

The Extended Cut proved there was a much more watchable film hiding in the vaults, a tighter edit and bit of reworking (maybe even some new effects to replace the awful CGI) could turn it into a really good film.

There was certainly oddles of atmosphere and some good performances.

Originally the Falcon's cockpit was to rotate (like a B-Wing) a feature would be useful in race through the Death Star.

Is there a way this could be accommodated with the set designs?

It would be handy if the cockpit always pointed in one direction no matter what the orientation of the ship was.

It could have been something Han switched off but Lando switched back on with unfortunate results.

If you go for the Piett Defection scenerio or not it would still be more visually interesting to have the Executor crash into the incomplete side of a/the Death Star.

Imagine that great blue arrow plunging into the exposed ribs of and girders.

We could see it falling down and down through the superstructure until it reached a surface to collide with with bits sheering off it on the way down creating there own explosions.

It would do a lot more damage too as the final explosion would be nearer to the core (possibly enough to take out a whole battlestation if you went with the 2 Death Star scenerio).

That would mean that the planet would have to be close enough to reflect enough light to illuminate the station.

Which would mean it would also reflect the light onto the moon, meaning that if the Death Star gets a moonlight like effect the sky above the moon would be dominated by a huge silvery orb making a dark night almost impossible until the planet came into eclipse with the moon.

In which case there would be a long period without sunlight and the only light coming from the station would be it's own lights.

This would be great if it was worked out from the beginning, it would make the Forest Moon a really interesting alien place but it would be a real task to work into the currently filmed footage.

Christopher Lee may have pulled out of The Wicker Tree.
Time

For those not in the know The Wicker Man (the original not the awful remake) has a sequel of sorts, Cowboys For Christ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowboys_for_Christ which is currently being filmed (as The Wicker Tree) around these parts in Scotland and over the pond in Texas.

Christopher Lee was due to return to the character of Lord Summerisle but rumours emerging from the location shoot seem to indicate that Christopher Lee has had to pull out die to ill health.

Fingers and toes crossed that if the stories are true he gets well soon.

^It's not my failure, though...

Also joking, of course. Haha. ;)

Seriously, it's an interesting idea. I always thought the way it was done was a little weird in both movies. In ANH, it's like the big laser is formed from all the small ones and pushed out by some invisible force or something, and in ROTJ, it looks like the small ones serve no purpose because the big laser comes out of the middle anyway.

Perhaps they are adding a secret ingredient to the big ray (MSG ?).

(If Fishman can post his "mockups", then I can certainly repost the only video one I've ever done!)

Can you make a list of his mockups please? :)

-Angel

I was debating on adding the quotation marks, thanks for clarifying the need to do so. ;-)

It would be very time consuming I assume, but it would be nice to have an actual list of all the (liked) mock-ups collected eventually, whether they be picture mock-ups, video mock-ups, whatever, and put in one easy-access place when ROTJ:R starts to kick into gear! Even if they were just links, or a series of pics on a page, it would help to keep things from being forgotten later on if they were organized well enough.

Just a thought for the future.

doubleofive has been compiling a list of re-edit ideas.

It might make sense to find the ones that may need a mockup to get the idea across and post a link to a mockup after it, turning it into a partially illustrated list that anyone could use (not just Ady who will no doubt pick a few and add them to the ideas he already has but not use them all).

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

If the Falcon did go boom in ROTJ it would add credence to the idea that Han was protesting too much about all that mystical energy field stuff in ANH.

All those bad feelings about things...

Maybe he can see it with the Force but refuses to believe it and just calls it luck or intuition.

Help: looking for... Exorcist - 'Fear of God' documentary - full length version?
Time

I'm not sure, I will have to have a poke around in my cabinet of curiosities, I know I have the episode of Clive Barker's A-Z Of Horror, with Mercedes McCambridge interviewed in much the same manner but I can't guarantee the quality of the recording (or the tape).

Here's something to keep you going:
