STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Part of that I think is because his cape gets pulled behind his shoulder.

We are so used to seeing Vader as a big dark triangle that it can be a bit of a shock to see his neck and shoulders without the cape, it changes a nice stable triangle into a tall oblong.

I never liked that bit when I was a kid because I had it in my mind that he was such a powerful being that he would have total control over his clothing (see now the full power of the darkside, no creases or fluffballs).

Now I rather like it because it seems natural.

I agree with your points about cutting the droids. Seeing as the plot follows them until Luke meets them, it'd be dramatically inept to remove them.

I'm very OT interested in what you didn't like about Blade Runner: The Final Cut.

The bits that really stuck out for me were the toning down of Roy's meeting with Tyrell.

I was glad to see the full skull crush (eeek) but changing the line to (or was it reinstating?) "I want more life father" and having him apologise to JF felt like Greedo shooting first.

The sharpness of **expletive deleted** underlined he meant business and the added line turned JF's death into a more calculated and pointess act rather than an act of rage.

If killing JF was a decision he regrets while he is carrying it out, why is he carrying it out?

He now knows he and Pris are going to die so it doesn't buy them any time and the only person who could possibly cover their tracks for a few more days or hours is JF (if they can calm him down after what he's seen).

It just made more sense to me that he used JF's empathy and compassion for Pris to get him into the room and now he has no hope he smashes him like a child throwing a tantrum (all be it with some cause). It could be argued that he is just trying to calm JF down so he can kill him with more ease but I don't buy that either. JF doesn't stand a chance against Roy so why continue to pretend?

It's only when he's facing his own death and has the chance to allow a little more life for Deckard (something his God couldn't do for himself) that he learns compassion.

I'd more ok about him letting JF live than to kill him while saying sorry about it.

Any road up that my big beef and I can see why other people might like those changes, the rest of it looks and sounds amazing.

The title of the thread includes the word radical so I personally am happy to see Angel's extreme make-over mock ups because they really change the mood and look of the films rather than just correcting the colour by removing the tints.

Perhaps in some cases blending the more extreme changes with the original footage creates a more natural look.

The OT was largely filmed on real sets an in real locations and therefore less crisp and contrast heavy but the official PT is often the other way, too blurry and plastic.

Luke isn't a minor character but everything we see in those scenes he already tells us when he is having his blue milk strop.

So all the scenes do is show us his friends who are minor characters.

If the footage could be cleaned up enough to be presentable it would be interesting to put it back in but removing necessary footage to do it doesn't makes sense to me and I think the capture of the droids is necessary footage.

Bounty Hunters wouldn't have allegiances and he does give them the information they ask for.

I don't remember them doing a character check on Han when he turned up in his tracked ship leading the Death Star straight to their hidden base.

Fett is in it for the money so he could have even helped get Lando into Jabba's palace as a sweetner (which gives the nod he gives Boussh a different meaning too). If you think about it Lando's disguise is bordering on the Clark Kent, especially with Boba Fett wandering around the palace.

By finding and delivering Han to Jabba he's proved himself as capable. When Kenner (or rather Palitoy in the UK) sold the action figure pre-ESB they played on his ambiguity (will he save the galaxy or destroy it....or something like that, Marvel used the same line on Luke).

Being a small vulnerable group I'd imagine the Rebels would take information from wherever than can get it (as long as they can check the accuracy).

They may be a small group compared to the Imperials but they seem large enough to have a few generals who didn't care that much about Han and saw dealing with someone like Fett as a necessary part of their intelligence gathering.

Having Fett in Jedi was a fan service so if he has to be there at least have him in character with what we have already seen of him and leave him as a loose end (everything is too tied up or assumed tied up in a pretty bow by the end of all the official versions).

Sometimes a change creates a difference which is better for some and not for others (there were a few changes in Blade Runner : The Final Cut that some people love and I can't stand).

I have no objection to alternate cuts in principle (cuts which are neither clearly better or worse but just different) it adds variety to the viewing experience but they still have to make sense, I'm not sure that dropping the droids onto the planet and picking up their story in the Sandcrawler does make sense.

Seeing the Jawas at work makes sense of a situation for major characters and losing that to make room for a group of minor characters doing their thing seems to be cutting Peter's nose off to spite Paul.

I very sceptical if the footage could be restored to even VHS quality so it seems a mute point anyway but I'd love to be proved wrong.

The lighting on the hilt in Angel's mockup is a bit out (but who I'm I to talk in my mockups the lighting is frequently all over the place), I can't remember which point the hilt should be in it's spin off hand so maybe that's off too but at least the blade is coming out of the right end and is the right colour.

So some of the way there.

All you have to do is show Slave 1 lifting off and flying away behind the sail barges as they approach us in their first shot. Then all you would have to do is edit out all Boba scenes in and around the sail barge. Later on, you show Boba in the shadows right before the meeting (say handing something off to Mrs. President), maybe even show the Slave 1 flying out one side of the main hanger (say on the port side of the capital ship or out of another hanger) as the Falcon approaches, so Han and Fett just miss each other.

Hell, for that matter, you don't even have to do the second half on the rebel cruiser - just showing Fett leave would allow his character to escape with some dignity, which is really what a lot of us Boba Fett fans want.

You'd need to have a bit more in there to get the double dealing across it doesn't have to be the full conversation and I imagine there is enough James Earl Jones material out there to spin something suitable.

Boba needn't say anything or maybe just repeat (perhaps with a bit of Ady style tweaking) a reprise of his "As you wish" from ESB.

It underlines that he will work for anyone and doesn't care what happens to his clients after he has finished the job.

-Angel

My lord! Vader stole Mace's muthaf**ing lightsaber :O

Shame on him.

That's brilliant Angel. Perfect :)

Is it Mace's or is it Maul's, as it can fire a blade out of either end?

I think the internal stucture of the hand is near perfect (the wonky flaps and rubber arm could do with a tweak).

If I were to change anything at all I'd remove the LEDs.

Anakin didn't seem to mind about having a mechanical hand much but Luke went to all that trouble of getting it covered with convincing synthetic skin and flesh but has little red lights inside and I'm not sure if those flappy doors are enough to prevent faintly glowy wrist syndrome (it would make things worse if more lights were added).

The little clicky rods moving in time with his fingers were a lovely touch and have held up quite well over the years.

How would that work?

Besides everything we need to know about Luke, his frustrated wish to leave the farm, his idle friends and even who Biggs is, is already in the film so all that would be added would be some low quality unfinished scenes of some people we hardly get to know at the expense of important information about two major characters.

Answers please on the After Ady thread because if it can be made to work it won't be in ANH:R.

What I like about it is he's back to being a bounty hunter and like in ESB he gets paid twice for the same job.

The exposition needn't be explicit, all we need to know is the Rebels have paid Fett for tracking the Emperor and finding the Death Star and Vader has paid him for making sure the Rebels arrive at the party on time (Dave just did it like that to get the idea across).

"I hope it's worth the price we paid" takes on a different meaning.

This is becoming very silly.

The matte doesn't match the set or the model.

He can't be thrown down the lift shaft Luke and Vader travelled up because the lift is clearly some distance away and as there is no other lift around it's doubtful it's a lift shaft at all.

It can't be the main reactor because that is way too far away.

He falls to his death and explodes down a chasm in the centre of the tower to the side of the lift shaft.

There may be a reactor somewhere down there but as we don't see it does it matter?

The one thing that is clear is the matte needs to be changed and possibly the model too.

As much as Jedi has some fine effects work much of it is kludged in this manner and getting hot under the collar about it serves no purpose.

Hopefully someone will one day reach a successful adjustment that can make sense of the mess.

As I said it was knocked up in a few minutes and I was trying to find something round with segmented gaps in it to mirror the area around the lift shaft and the wheel was the nearest thing on a quick google search.

But sure, if you want it to be an Event Horizon style meat grinder go with the flow (maybe the tower is part of the ventilation system and he sits on the top to get the best view on the station). It would be ironic seeing as this came from an attempt to disprove the tower leading to the reactor and I really wanted the reactor chamber to spin to add more peril to Lando and Wedge's attempt to destroy it.

Star Wars has lots of bottomless pits so having a bottomless pit filled with spinning razor sharp blades at least adds variety.

What I was trying to show was the tower filled with circular floors each with it's own connection to the death pit (if it's silly enough to be at the top why not have one on every storey?).
