I would be interested in seeing ideas on how to make the Gungan bombs (and the ball thing at the end of TPM) look less like plasma spheres.

Sure, it would mean adjusting every frame they are in but they look so fake and stupid, more like a Nintendo game weapon than something used in the Star Wars Universe (they might as well have stuck a monkey inside).

-  Why use our system of numbers in the movie when all lettering have been replaced with aurabesh?

It's just a consideration that so much time goes in to converting all references to english writting and replacing it with aurabesh (which is extremely effectfull) but when we get to the Death Star coming in on Yavin there is a, sorry to say it, generic timer counting down? This is by the way the only thing I reacted to. Sure I wish there'd been even more ships in the Death Star battle but I can fully understand how heavy such a effect sequence might be.

Sometimes we need a visual reference that we recognise  to enhance the dramatic element of a scene. Changing the number system to Aurabesh for the countdown clock just didn't work. You need that "our world" visual reference for the clock. I did try changing the numbering to Aurabesh but, when watching it back, it lost something. This is the problem with some SCI-FI in that they change everything to look other worldly and it fails. Any lettering wasn't the focus in a scene but the numbering was and this needed to stay recognisable.

I'm not sure.

We see the graphic representing Yavin 4 moving into the crosshairs and we have the onscreen announcements.

An Aurebesh clock might still work because on a subconscious level we know it's a countdown even if we don't recognise the numbers (in fact that might add tension for the non-Aurebesh reading public because they don't know for sure how much time our heroes have left other than the look of desperation on their faces).

I think I'll post this on the after Ady thread because someone might be tempted to try it.

And so I did...

I'm not sure about Jabba have PT battledroids (he has a finally balanced deal with the Imperials which I don't think would be allowed to happen after ROTS if he had been an out and out Seperatist).

It might be good to see some salvaged Seperatist materiel being used by the Rebels though (especially if the Seperatists were reworked to be the forerunners of some of the Rebels).

Someone did suggest incorporating a salvaged downed AT-AT into the Ewok village as proof that they had already fought the Imperials after seeing this image:

I like the general idea SSWR but I still think it's too much information.

We know from Leia in ROTJ she dies when she is very young, my earliest memories are from when I was about two but they are very vague so shifting it up to about three years later sort of makes sense.

If this was done as a time shifting montage her niece could be Leia (though we don't know that at the time) if she doesn't turn up in a reworked Episode II.

The explanation that Leia gives could act as a explanation of the scene we see in a reworked ROTS.

Another vid. This time showing Dooku exhibiting a bit of remorse so that he seems more like a Jedi fighting for the greater good.

Gunray and Poggle will need to be either composited into the shot with Dooku, or the shot of them laughing removed.

I like.

Compositing Gunray in would be my preferred option as his vendetta against Padme is a running theme (not that it runs far enough in the movies).

Having the twins born on Dagobah makes sense on many levels.

The "something familiar" line could be just a vague connection with something through the Force but the Force is everywhere, it would add a bit of story reasonance if there was a bit more to it. Sometimes pointing to something in another part of the story can be very rewarding (when it isn't done in a hamfisted way like "You'll be the death of me").

It gets Yoda onto Dagobah without having to add yet another landing sequence and a ship to cover up.

It gets rid of the landing sequence on Polis Massa which adds nothing to the plot.

It makes the end sequence more simple by cutting away all that un-needed fat and enriches the basic story.

Well I didn't see it explictly on doubleofive's list, but one of the thing's that bothered me since my second viewing of ROTJ is the shot of the A-wing crashing into the Executor's bridge.

Please change that to look less like a burning car rammed through the set.

Can we get some more B-wing action in? I love the B-wing, and McQuarrie made a beautiful painting of some B-wings fleeing an exploding Star Destroyer.

Here's a trimmed version of the painting:

Which was turned into this famous photo montage for publicity :

It might be nice to have some of the A-Wings have their originally intended colour scheme (not my work) :

Worst Edit Ideas

I grew up watching Saiyuki or Monkey! as it was known in it's British dubbed version as well as Le Manège enchanté or The Magic Roundabout in it's English language version and in both of those cases the dubs were made by actors fully in on the joke and much better for it.

Some of the early Jackie Chan films were much funnier in the dubbed versions too and often the actors seemed to know what they were up to (especially in Project A where English dialogue was dubbed into English and still out of sync).

I quite liked TheBoost's idea of ending ROTJ with a pan up to the night sky and then a jump to Hyperspace (it's the end of the story so the audience is leaving the galaxy far, far away and moving on).

doubleofive's suggestions list is a good place to go to see if something has already been covered (most of your points are on there) :

Feedback Wanted: Jar Jar's voice and personality re-imagined (video experiment)
Time

I'm in two minds about if it would be better to apply this sort of dub to an extended cut (with all the footage) and using that as a basis of edits and finding an edit that has already removed most of what was annoying about the character and dubbing that to complete the transformation.

Most of those sort of edits don't have the Bongo scene anyway so the glowing eel reaction wouldn't be an issue.

I really did like some of Magnoliafan's subtitles, Jar-Jar the smart arse was a laugh and a revelation even if it was hard to keep up with the reading. It would be nice to add some of that into the character.

Perhaps someone should do the same for the Japanese Trade Federation and Watto Goldberg.

The Gungan's need to drop some of their physical sillyness (it's not just Jar-Jar it's Boss Nass as well), which is why I mentioned the  Hull...sorry...Slumberland edits where he pretty much fixed that.

Jar-Jar is still clumsy but not so clumsy it takes away from the story and Nass doesn't shake spit over everyone.

I would also like to see how this sort of work could get my linear Episode One to work better :

With Jar-Jar already a naive and clumsy representative of the Gungans in the senate, on Coruscant with Queen Amidala when the invasion happens (literally a fish or amphibian out of water).

I'm going to post a link to this thread onto the Radical Redux Thread so people who read that one get a chance to see this.
