Episode VII: The Ridiculousness Awakens

Whole lot of “how the hell would I do that?” in these threads lately.

With all due respect, many things you would have thought to be impossible have been done either by yourself or with help with others in your edits and that is so far and this project is a long way off.

Surely the best thing is to get ideas and then see if you can do them rather than restricting the ideas to what people think you can currently do on your own?

The same way the 1997 crowd made Han step on Jabba’s tail… only not quite as badly.

Jabba’s tail shot was not only pulled off by those harboring millions of dollars at their disposal, but it was only one shot.
There is literally no way in the world he could pull off a convincing limp for every one of the original cast.

That was 1997. With Ady being able to replace mattes and major set elements I’m pretty sure someone could pull off an unconvincing limp with modern digital technology. Get real 😛

It’s an interesting idea.
One change I would make would be to make the eyes of the original actors match their younger selves. As people age their eyes lose some shine, it’s usually the tell in even really good old age makeup. So if you made Carrie, Harrison and Mark look like they are wearing old age make up rather than being natural it would go some of the way to pulling off the effect.
I would also make all the original class limp a bit because that’s what young actors think older people do.
I’d replace most of Snoke with the original Palpatine (mask sections and animal eyes) just keep the lips for sync reasons and maybe use computer morphing which would be a cutting edge technology at that point.

What song lyrics inspire you to look forward to seeing the sun every day life allows you to?
Time

Play in the Sunshine Lyrics
Prince

Play, play, play,
Ooo doh, awh, ooo, ooo, ooo

We want to play in the sunshine
We want to be free
Without the help of a margarita or ecstacy
We want to kick like we used to
Sign up on the dotted line
We gonna dance every dance
Like it’s gonna be the last time

We got to, play in the sunshine
Turn all the lights up to ten
I want to meet you (meet you), and kiss you (kiss you),
Love you (love you), and miss you (miss you)
Do it all over again, do it all over again

We gonna play in the sunshine
We’re gonna get over
I’m feelin’ kind of lucky to night
I’m gonna find my four leaf clover
Before my life is done
Some way, some how, I’m gonna have fun, awh

Play in the sunshine

We gonna love all our enemies
Till the gorilla falls off the wall
We’re gonna rock him
We’re gonna roll him
We’re gonna teach him that love will make him tall (so tall)

Aah, pop goes the music
When the big white rabbit begin to talk
And the color green will make your best friend leave ya
It will make 'em do the walk
But that’s cool
'Cause one day, everyday will be a yellow day
And let’s play,

Woo, y’all, (gonna get over), over
I’m feelin’ kind of lucky to night
I’m gonna find my four leaf clover
Before my life is done
Some way, some how, I’m gonna have fun, ooo ooo ooo, awh, yawh

Play, play, play, play, play, play, play, play woo
We gonna play in the sunshine
We’re gonna get over
I’m feelin’ kind of lucky to night
I’m gonna find my four leaf clover
Before my life is done
I’m gonna find my way and some how have fun, yawh, awh, y’all
Some way, some how, I’ve just got to have fun

(Play), (play),
(Play) no, (play) no, (play) no
(Come on, play) No! (Play) no! (Play play play) yea!

Drummer, do your thing
Drummer, drummer, do your thing, woo
Drummer, drummer, drummer
Can I get some of that? Wait a minute, ha ha ha

Let’s get out of here (yeah)
(Play, in the sunshine)
We’re not afraid to (play, la la la in the sunshine, la la)
We are going to
(Play, la la la in the sunshine, la la)
(Play, la la la in the sunshine, la la)

Dear little sister: Perhaps we wouldn’t have thousands of dollars on our credit cards to pay off if you didn’t buy your $40+ of goddamn booze every single day.

Oh, and before you go into one of your tirades of how you “don’t party every day”, you don’t need to party to pour money down the drain, you stupid, self-absorbed twat.

My own situation resembles this on bad days. Not so much the overspending as half no2 is very hard working and frugal. But the erosion of the self when stuck in a space with a verbally incontinent person shouting the same old nonsense swears and repeated slurred sentences, well it’s just no fun at all. It makes me wish I had a lever that revealed a sound proof calm room where the rules of binge drinking no longer held sway. A reverse speak easy. A shut up easy.

All the Prince Batman videos are on the Blu Ray, IIRC.

I did read an article recently suggesting his stance against Youtube and restricting his music to just one online service was actually making him obscure with younger people now.

It could be a vector in my loss of contact with his work.
I stopped watching broadcast television in the early noughties so new material from other artists would get my attention via the webz and Prince just didn’t have the web presence of other artists I had previously followed.

I guess if I ration what I haven’t heard for a while I can maintain a pretense of new output for the rest of my life.

He strikes me as the sort of performer that has a library of unreleased material as well.

I’m a little freaked out, because last weekend I found my Batdance cassette I used to listen to in my Mom’s car back in the day. Not even sure how it ended up on a high shelf in the kitchen closet, but it probably sat there undisturbed for two decades. I took it as a good omen, because of the happy memories attached to it.

I was also musing last week that MST3K made a lot of Prince references. Of course they were both based in Minnesota.

I recently had do a bit of search for the Batdance video to make a point about just how wacky it was. This was made difficult by The Artist formally known as the Artist formally known as Prince’s stance against allowing his material being free to view on Youtube and other such media organs.
It’s weird for me because he was very important to me during my midteens to midtwenties but I don’t really feel impact or shock at the news in the way I did with Bowie. Possibly because I was buying Bowie records right up to the last moment. The last Prince album I got was Love Symbol (1992).
I know precious little of his work after that point and didn’t really feel a pressing need to investigate it and I can’t for the life of me figure out why either.
It’s possible I’m also suffering from celebrity death fatigue. We have lost so many people in such a short period of time, all of them key players in my life that I’m not sure if I can process these sorts of events anymore in a personal context. Naturally every death is tragic and annoying and I wish consolation on his family and friends. But as a fan I’m not really feeling it.
With so many of my heroes much, much older than Prince I worry that this year will be a Ouija Board party line.
