Ideas: James Bond re-edit suggestions...
Time
OK, sorry if I sound rude or anything, but no replies in a day? Where my ideas so bad?

I mean, TAILOR always had a Bond-ian flair. With some clever editing, it could be turned into either Bond's first mission (thus a good prequel to the Dalton/Brosnan Bond) or a sequel to DAD, where Bond has to prove himself more efficiently. I know it can.

Also, the black and white CR I haven't seen, but I think it could be turned into a Bond prequel to DR. NO, setting up Bond like today's CR did (Well, sort of). That way, CR would open the Connery-Lazenby-Moore Bond series and the re-edit of NSNA (which has music from all Bond films, and which I own as well) would close it.

Anyway, what do you ALL think?

Well?

Ideas: James Bond re-edit suggestions...
Time

Hi.

I don’t know if talking about these things is OK, but I had this idea on my head and wanted to express it.

Considering that the new CASINO ROYALE film is a reboot, cut off from the rest of the Bonds, I was wondering if we could re-edit various films into Bond films.

For instance, the black and white CR. Could it be re-edited into a Bond film, and more specifically, since its black and white, a prequel to DR. NO? And when I mean re-editing, I mean a good re-edit that could introduce the Connery-Lazenby-Moore Bond.

And what about Tailor of Panama? Could that one be re-edited into a Bond film that introduces Bond before his 00 designation? Or as a sequel to DAD? The reason I suggest the re-edit into a pre-007 film is because I’d like to differentate the Dalton-Brosnan Bond from the others.

I’m not sure if I made my point clear, but thats what I had in mind for Bond re-edits. I didn’t mention NSNA, because, well, I own one such re-edit - and I’m very happy with it!

Well? What do you think?

I am not familiar with the Doube-0-Heaven cut. I do have the NSMcCloryA, though. Whats the difference between the two?

Also, has anyone considered re-editing the old CR into an EON Bond? Since it'd be before DR. NO, it wouldn't really need a title sequence, and the music could sporadic while leading to the Bond theme by the end.

It might be able to re-edit that B/W feature into a prequel to the EON series. What do you say?

Great stuff!!! Many, many thanks. I'll print them on very soon.

Now, though, I have to ask... And thats because I'm really unaware still of these things, how do I get the movies these covers represent? I mean, do I have to search out and buy them on ebay, for instance, or get around a specific website to download them? THe workprint cover says that the workprint also has the Destruction of the Kurtz compound footage from the dvd.

Help me out here, please? Thank you anyway.

Ideas & Info: a general post-Python research topic.....
Time
May I ask why are you so hostile against me? I haven't seen At Last the 1948 Show, nor the Frost Report and all that. Because I hadn't gone around to that. Its been a month since I bought Yellowbeard, which I thought was great pirate comedy, and just a few days ago did I see Splitting Heirs. As you should've known, I wanted to see films in which two or more Pythons appear, POST-Python. I also have acquired Wind of Willows which I'll look at today, probably. Erik the Viking is also a buy-to-be, mostly because it promises in its Diector's Son's Cut to be better than the original.

I have heard of Rutland Weekend Television and if its available I'd like to see it. I will also buy the two Ruttle movies.

BELIEVE ME, I will consult you once I get to the PRE-Python stuff. I just want to see some POST-Python, first.

I have recently signed a petition to bring forth Chapman's last work. And from what I read it looked promising with interesting stuff in it. Certainly interesting.

What would be neat is for someone to build a series around it: Meaning the pilot could be released, and then someone should make a new series based on it - with all new actors and all, obviously. I have an idea for a first episode to that: Chapman's Sir George has been cought between the timeline dimensions that prevent him from reclaiming his previous human form (the Graham Chapman figure). Jake is consulted by the so-called wise men, which would consist of The Tempered Wise Man (John Cleese), the Optimistic Wise Man (Eric Idle), the Nice Wise Man (Michael Palin), the Logical Wise Man (Terry Jones), and the Weird Wise Man (Terry Gilliam). These men bring him forth to embark on a journey to find a suitable body for Sir George, who saved the universe once (accidently!) and they owe to him to help him. Once that adventure ends, the new Sir George has also some slight character changes. This elaborate plot I thought of to effectively differentiate Chapman and whatever other man appears at the role, in the (remote) case of Jake's Journey actually ever becoming a series of some sort.

OK, now what do you think?

Ideas & Info: a general post-Python research topic.....
Time

Having noticed the distinct tendency around for Python, and especially my very own curiosity about it, I have decided to make this topic about it.

I love Monty Python, and I would sencirely love to have all movies that related to those six people.

I heard that Rutland Weekend Television doesn’t exist anywhere. Can I ask why? Does anyone have them?

Also, I have recently heard that the Out of the Tree Chapman TV show was found. Is that true?

Are there enough features to host a Life of Brian second disk?

And more… Just thought I apetize some of the posters around, who are familiar with Python.

Well? What do you say?

Am I here to be critisized?

I did not say that Fawlty Towers ain't any good. But Splitting Heirs a little bit more preferable to me. Both are rather weak, IMO. But Falwty Towers does have better slapstick humor.

And so what? Does that make me a bad person or something? I don't get it.

I love Monty Python BTW.

Anyway, back to the Splitting Heirs subject...

Thanks for the good word.

I'm just discovering of the psot-Python work that is out there. I want to check the Rutles, Rutland Television and Ripping Yarns.

To be honest, I didn't quite like Fawlty Towers. Nice for rental to enjoy the evening, but nothing lasting. The one episode I really liked was the one with the salad and the American one. You know, where Basil actually decides to leave the place, but returns anyway to stay for the rainy night.

So give me a break, would you? I live in Greece, its not easy to have access to that kind of material. So please!

Anyway, anyone else on Splitting Heirs? Any documentary? Nothing?

Well?

I would like to ask if there are any extras for the Eric Idle (of Monty Python fame) comedy, Splittin Heirs, made in 1993. Stars Rick Moranis, Catherine Zeta Jones and Barbara Hershey. John Cleese also appears, in a vital role.

Does anyone know if any extras, like making-of, trailers or anything, are out there? I want to make a complete DVD out of it - the DVD I have has nothing but the film. Not even Subtitles! Anyway, I’d like to know if there any extras to include on my DVD. I’ll torrent it afterwards.

Well? Any help?

How can you like the movies but not the series? Its the same style of humor - its Python! Chapman, Cleese, Idle, Palin, Gilliam, Jones... All those guys being silly... "Very silly, indeed."

You remind me of the Colonel!

ocpmovie, I do not have region 1, I live in a region 2 era - Greece! And as such I have read almost everywhere that the picture and sound quality of Life of Brian in UK is much, much better than Criterion - which has the ultimate extras (two commentaries).

However, since you have all those extras on Life of Brian, why don't you make a DVD out of them, put that "Pythons" BBC special in there too, and thus create a second disk for LoB. Then you can take the UK version of the film, and insert just the two commentaries.

And there you would have it. A 2-disk fan made DVD version of Monty Python's "Life of Brian".

What does everyone think?

PS: Do you have any extras on Idle's Splitting Heirs, by any chance?

Well one could actually spice up the dvd a bit more. Maybe adding music videos, and perhaps, if its possible that much talked about TV discussion between the Church people and Cleese and Palin. That would be a neat extra.

With that, one can take the picture transfer and the 5.1 surround sound with the commentaries to make one disk of the film, and then create a second disk with the "The Pythons" documentary and that aforementioned new extras - music vids and the TV discussion. If one can think of some other extra, that'd be neat.

Now how's that for a suggestion? A 2-disk for Brian. Although not nearly as mouthful as Holy Grail and Meaning of Life, it will still be very interesting, as it will also feature the UK transfer, which is great, and the extras on another disk.

And I do talk about region free DVD... For all people around!

What do you all say? What do you think?

Criterion Collection: Adventures of Baron Munchausen & The Fisher King (Released)
Time
From what I was able to find on the internet, the Munchausen laserdisk has the following:

A full-length running commentary on an alternate audio track (use the remote to switch back and forth between it and the main audio track as desired) with Terry Gilliam talking about the movie.

Another full-length running commentary on another alternate audio track with the producer, Gilliam's nemesis, talking about the movie.

A short comment by Eric Idle.

Deleted scenes, including one where a soldier explains why they can't engage in warfare on Wednesdays.

Storyboards for canceled scenes, including a parody of the dining scene in Tom Jones.

Outtakes of Robin Williams as the Moon King.

History of the Baron Munchausen legend.

Excerpts from earlier Baron Munchausen films, including one financed by the Nazis during the Third Reich.

Theatrical trailer.

Lots more.

If anyone will be able to transfer those, it will be so great. And I myself would be ETERNALLY grateful.

Are these the extras we're talking about, though?

Idea: Monty Python's Life of Brian Ultimate DVD request....
Time

Hello everyone! Long time reader, first (well, not really first, but its still early) time poster. I was wondering lately about Monty Python’s Life of Brian DVD editions that exist.

The Criterion DVD has far superior extras, like commentaries on the film by all surviving Pythons in two groups (Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam in one, John Cleese and Michael Palin in the other) and its deleted scenes as a feature, but the picture and sound quality of the UK release widescreen is better. For one, it has, unlike Criterion, 5.1 surround sound.

So I was just wondering… Wouldn’t it be best, if someone brought the two editions (Criterion and UK release) together? Just take the picture and sound quality of UK and keep the extras from Criterion the same.

I just never understood why an inferior in picture and sound quality had better extras, and another version exists with better picture and sound quality without the above mentioned extras.

Wouldn’t it be best if someone did the above suggested move? I don’t suppose it would be that hard. I’d do it, but I am completely UNAWARE of re-edits and digital progress. Although I am learning quite a bit around here…

Well?

I'm really new to torrenting (like 2 weeks), but if people would like and if I can work out how to do it I'll try and put it up on Demonoid some time in the next week.

Really? Great! That would make a fine second dvd for my Yellowbeard DVD.

If you put this on the internet for download, I'll definetely download it!

You know, you could spice your DVD with a fan made music video.

Here's the adress to find it: http://www.freewebs.com/pythonorbit/music.htm. You should contact with its owner to use it, I think. But it will be nice, I believe.

Great! A decond disk for Yellowbeard. How nice...

Should you do this, great, great thanks!!!
