...and what could be the beginning of the PINK saber debate.

Would enjoy seeing it, but I've been banned.  Interesting, because I've never even visited the site before!

Hold the phone, they have supposed blu-ray clips and wicket digitally blinks in the JEDI sample. Is this for real?

It's just that the OT is viewed as the past, and only desired by a niche market. The dollar signs are not large enough.

And yet we have the broadly appealing new documentary THE SECRET LIFE OF EDITH WHARTON for the Young Indiana Jones dvd!

(kids excitedly perusing Young Indy box set extras on release day)

"Is it on there??"

"It is!"  (high five)

Surely with the few million it would take to remaster the theatrical versions

I don't even think it would cost that much. Especially EMPIRE and JEDI, both of which had a fraction of the theatrical run that the first movie did, and can be no more difficult than any other early 80s hit, like Firefox or Trading Places. As for Star Wars, maybe as a base we can look to Don May, who wants to do an ultimate blu-ray transfer of Night of the Living Dead and says he needs 350 thousand to do it.

It's funny how old movies are at the mercy of a handful of guys and their good/bad taste.  (This reminds me of the SUPERMAN dvd, when the guy who did the new mix said if you ever heard the '78 mix it would be SO horrible you would feel like your ears were being attacked by wolves. Then when they included both mixes a few years later, nobody anywhere felt that way.)

I get the impression that at LFL, the movies are seen as a sort of sandbox that everyone gets to play in once every few years. What a warped view of classic cinema.

That insulated, tone-deaf, out-of-touch bubble seems to grow stronger every year. It's like GL is a home-school kid, and others that stay there end up that way too.

The entire machine runs on a greater-than-normal devotion to a movie. So it's crazy for anyone at LFL to be bothered by any of this.

I know they flew people out there to get soft, lightweight coverage but the way the original versions issue is danced around wouldn't be acceptable to a high school newspaper reporter. It's amazing how scared grown adults are to really pursue that question after all these years. I wish they'd stop treating LFL with such reverence, it's just a company selling stuff, it's not royalty.
