George came off fine in that clip. (Seeing him and hearing his voice though, his health worries me a little)  

He needs to get over it. I never, ever would have told him that Darth Vader was Luke's father a whole year before the movie came out, you wouldn't tell anybody that didn't need to know, that's silly. And on top of that you would never use a non-actor which is what he essentially was, in the unmasking scene. (Sebastian Shaw is really good in that scene, does a lot with very little) And Prowse still doesn't think Jones is the better voice? He has a Kenny Powers-like grasp of things.

Pfft, we can't be wasting time on Star Wars at a Star Wars convention! 

I'm sure the show is perfectly fine for whoever its aimed at. It's just a bit distracting that a month of it would pay for a very excellent blu-ray, just saying.

Well, that's a thing that exists. They could have a nightly cinemax show about Admiral Ackbar's Erotic Massage and I wouldn't care. (if they put out a plain vanilla catalog Star wars blu-ray that is impossible to lose one cent on).

I like when people try to equate a guy in 1977 wanting to re-do bad composites and rough motion control (and basically just pushing the movie to December like Close Encounters did) with what ended up ultimately happening in 97, as if it's exactly the same.

Yeah it's not great. Although Victory celebration is such boring 90s milquetoast, truly the Van Hagar of star wars. I always wondered what temp music Richard Marquand used for his director's cut (I believe he finished it before Williams had recorded anything).

The new Jaws audio is actually not bad at all and I really hated the last one. Now that Indy and E.T. are about to come out, the SW disc is going to truly stand alone in its crass, glitchy, shittiness. (There's the big star wars convention in Florida this week, I don't suppose they'll address anything)

I feel bad young people keep getting our reheated shit instead of something new but if a reboot had to happen (let's say GL handed it over for charity or because he got in trouble with the IRS or whatever) it would still focus mostly on the original part of the story because that's the commercial, entertaining part. The prequel part of the story is still the part that was fished out of the trash, like making a movie about spiderman's uncle. Ideally it would be a big, mostly live action expensive spectacle like the new Batmans.

There won't be a reboot for decades if at all, he's provided for that. Better to just let it go, Indiana. It's played out anyway, time for something new.

Star Wars-the special edition-1981

With all the talk of JAWS/RAIDERS/Spielberg this week, and the concept of a Dumb Special Edition originating with Spielberg, it's interesting to ponder what a SE of Star Wars would have been if Lucas had really followed the Close Encounters example and done it for '81 or '82. Would he have cut anything out or back in like CE3K did? (I never bought the notion that he'd been pining away for many wistful years to get Jabba in there). I think it would have been limited to Landspeeder stuff and some redone X-Wing shots done on the level of JEDI's motion control work. And it probably would have been pretty bitchin'. 

Yup, that's Weaver. The dvd is really good, though I wonder if the short network tv version still exists. The new spielberg interview in the extras is one of his best, very sharp.

In other news, the JAWS disc is everything Star Wars isn't.

If they just have to change stuff, I'd like to see some of that deleted material polished up and put back into JEDI '83. (namely the Luke/Han goodbye from the sandstorm, the bunker shootout and Darth choking the guy. All nice moments in the vein of stuff from the previous 2 movies)

It doesn't sound right. That pre-viz dates way too close to when they were actually filming the movie. 

Handing over all control and elements for New Hope was part of the deal Fox made for the prequels. Yeah.

What is that, the law? You just made that up from thin air. But really, in 75 years nobody has lavished this kind of ambition and effort on the character (and may not ever again), so I can't see getting hung up on some arbitrary personal "rules" about Batman. This is why we can't have nice things, internet! 

Yeah it seems pretty lame. Maybe the star wars schtick is getting into that embarrassing "Old Lucy" phase now. The "Prometheus questions" thing was good though.

I used to use that quote when arguing at TFN, didn't matter. Those mooks all thought they understood cinematography better than American Cinematographer. Annoying, but it's a good indicator of the psycho loyalty LFL enjoys. It's like having a whole marketing spin team that works for free.
