how it started:

Blue for good guys and red for bad guys.

Luke insert the green one.

We have dark forces 2 that shows the bad guys have rainbow sabers not only red.

then as an oficial cannon lucas make windu with purple.

then KOTOR defines the colors to classes and shit.

LESS IS MORE RIGHT? we never see a dialogue like: hey dude nice yellow saber you have! are you a sentinel?

EU details are useless and they work perfectly to comics and novels.

Im not saying not having more colors to the edits. After there is free will :) but i like to think it  like its star wars. Real star wars. not with many parameters or knights, masters, sentinels, neos and smiths.

KOTOR takes place 4000 years before the prequels, so a class/saber system could have been in affect and long abandoned by the time events we see in film roll around.

I say (as I have said bfore becuase Im obsessive that way) leave the lightsabers alone. Mace is a special circumstance with his purple saber so you dont need to take his into account. (Please not I said Mace and not Samuel Jackson) I think everyone with blue lightsabers would look silly and boring after a while. Why should Luke have the only green saber? Becuase he is so much better than everyone else or something? Hardly.

edit: Yeah...seeing them in full (ahem) color, the white sabers are a bad idea.

IMHO I find it interesting to see the repeating themes and parallelisms....

Thats why most of  the prequels and sequels fail. they use many parallels and its like to see the first movie through the second.

I dont say that is bad but it has to be done with subtle ways. watch Dark knight for example.

Now GL fell to put all the motos and characteristics of the OT to PT so it has the feeling that is a SW movie :)

Hello there? I have a bad feeling about this etc

Lucas repeated things in the original trilogy not just between the OT and PT. If the prequels had failed this would not have been a reason to cite...I thought you liked the prequels?

Well then if the Lightsabers have to be recolored then how about this. Make them symbolise where they are in their training? White sabers for the little kids, Yellow for older ones...like maybe that kid that Senator Organa watches get killed in sith, Blue for knights, Green for Masters. Purple for bad-ass mutherfuckers. Pink for Coruscant Breast Cancer awareness day...etc etc

The saber colors have no deep mystical meaning. Sith use artificial crystals which make the blade color red. end of story no deep philiosphical meaning behind blade color.

I don't really see how you can use an in-universe explanation to debunk filmic symbolism.

There is no filmic symbolism to the lightsaber colors beyond the fact that Sith have red.

And Bingo Im not against more radical edits that enhance movies like Ady's ANH:R. But Ive never seen or seen an edit of a prequel discussed where enhancements were discussed or done, only subtractions or impossible to pull off complete rewrites, thats what Im against.

I enjoy Dagobah in the OT just fine, I was just trying to make a point and yes there are humans in Star Wars but not from Earth so you could argue the inclusion of snakes and lizards but to me its pulls me out of the movie. Why not add giraffees and elephants too?

I enjoy edits of movies I have very little issue with. Like extended editions of the prequel trilogy and the extended edition of the first Terminator.

I dont like the idea of making Dooku not a sith, its a bad idea.

The saber colors have no deep mystical meaning. Sith use artificial crystals which make the blade color red. end of story no deep philiosphical meaning behind blade color. And if a blade color is changed than it creates a continuity problem with all of the EU and the Clone Wars.

Episode I: The Phantom Strikes - TPM Edit by tehwallaby (* unfinished project *)

- A new Sound Mix, complete with the redubs, and new sound effects. Im sorry NEW sound effects, you think you can out do ILM ?

- Appearances of the Neimodians cut down to keep them shadowy and mysterious. They dont need to be shadowy and mysterious, they are a element in Sidious' plan. something to further his objectives. You already have Maul and Sidious doing the shadowy and mysterious thing.

- Scenes where Neimodians do appear may be redubbed, perhaps even in an "alien" language. People have tried this and it has yet to sound good. I wouldnt

- Qui-Gon Jinn's lightsabre will be yellow. why? Actually nvm, just dont do it.

- Scenes with Jar Jar will be toned down, to keep his antics to a minimum. This I support 100% though continual hatred of the prequels by fans and media alike make me like him more everyday, thanks everyone.

- Jar Jar may be redubbed, and his character changed to be more like Threepio.

A Basic Synopsis (with comments about the cuts):

Alternate Opening Crawl - Based off of this.

Negotiations - There are no shots of the Neimodians, you just see all of the Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan parts.

Cut straight to the invasion force on Naboo - Meeting Jar Jar cut to a minimum.

No Otoh Gungah, no planet core.

Dramatic rescue of the Naboo - A few small cuts here and there throughout, making this punchier and faster.

Running the Blockade - Again, trimmed throughout.

Landing on Tattoine - See above.

Visiting Watto's Junkyard - Anakin's lines cut to a minimum, as well as Jar Jar's hijinks.

No fight with Sebulba.

Sheltering At the Skywalker Home - Small cuts, Threepio is built by Anakin but less dialogue by Anakin, conversation about slavery altered slightly, a lot of sections toned down to make Anakin a quiet, contemplative child. All the above just sounds like another shreeding of the prequels by a fan. I am generally against taking things out of the movie, when I see it afterwards it just seems jarring to me. The Prequels dont need to have every moment cut up. Take fart jokes out yes please but the entire movie does not need to be put in a blender.

The Podrace Sequence - Faster, punchier, more action and less shots of the actual racers. Just super-fast pods ripping around the track with explosions all around. No one on the Earth complains about the length of the freeway chase in Matrix reloaded but everyone complains about the podrace. Leave it alone. Im an action junkey and I love and extended action sequence and so do all of you...and you know it.

Anakin Beats Up Greedo - To show his dark side. Subtle use of Imperial March as foreshadowing. I like all of the deleted scenes added back into the movie...with the exception of the waterfall one becuase it adds more Jar Jar, if someone could figure out how to add that back in without Jar Jar it would be awesome.

My Two cents above in bold.

I just miss the FANTASY aspect of Star Wars. Look at Dagobah in ESB. It had a mystic almost Spielberg esque Fantasism . If someone can bring Fantasy to the PT then you are truly a master. Vaderios your mockups have been bringing the fantasy aspect back good work. The prequels made Star Wars a universe I wouldn't want to be in. Midiclorions, Orange and Pink tints, Yoda CGI and Skinny Puppet. What happened to you Star Wars. I thought Star Wars was supposed to be like the serials of the 30's and 40's.

The fantasy aspect of Dagobah? would that be the fake-ass looking swamp. The earth igunas or the earth snakes? The big puddle of water? The horribly composited flying thing?

BTW what is everyone's obsession with recoloring the lightsabers in the movies. They are all fine. Everyone leave them alone. Especially Qui-Gon's. Qui-Gon is one of the most badd-ass things in Star wars, he doesnt need changed and he certainly doesnt need to be some double agent.

Good idea Axia, but I'd say go for the WTF level. My sweet little granny could have answered that last one without even looking at wookiepedia on her iPhone.

Unfortunantly they are kind of all over the place, they arent seperated by difficulty but the next random question seems more up your alley.

990: What did Ishi Tib evolve from?

I for one cannot wait for the new Star Wars The Old Republic game. Hopefully the Star Wars MMO will be done well this time. I just wish something new would happen in Star Wars without everyone using it as an excuse to retread their dislike of Lucas and Star Wars. Cant you just enjoy that awesome trailer and leave it at that? Becuase I for one would just love to say GODDAMNEDTHATWASFUCKINGAWESOME!!!!!!!!!

As for the advancment of tech in Star Wars, yeah Ive always thought that it proceeded very slowly, but it's just something Ive come to accept about Star Wars.

The release of any Bioware Star Wars game is always going to be followed by criticism of Lucas, because let's face it, Bioware know how to write Star Wars better than he does!

That sir, right there, is exactly what I am talking about

Star Wars Trivia Question of the day
Time

Hey all, I just got Obsessed With Star Wars. Its a Book/Trivia Game with 2500 questions. I thought Id post a random question for you everyday. They range in difficulty (from beyond easy to WTF?) and I thought Id post the questions without the four choices. Let me know if you'd like me to list those as well.

454. Who accompanied Anakin Skywalker to Tatooine to look for his mother?
