I want my money back from the 04 DVDs and the prequels tickets.

Being an artist myself I must say that art is COMPLETELY subjective. Some artists would argue that if most can agree that is IS art than it cant possibly be art. My theory there being that if art talks to the masses it cant possibly have any depth or meaning. Some would consider ALL Star Wars movie to be artless swill. I believe we can ALL agree thats just not true. Art IS subjective. To me the artist Olivia is simply the greatest artist that has ever lived and Ive never seen why Picasso is held in such "High esteem". Most art critics would disagree with me.

Personally I dont think any PT would have been successful. Too many people had built up the OT as the end-all be-all of Star Wars movies and no matter what happened most would have hated them. People wanted Luke, Leia and their taxi-driver han running around again in the Millennium Falcon and that just wasnt going to happen. Sorry. :D

I personally love the PT.

The fights werent uninvolving and flat? Say whatever you want about the PT, hate it, loathe it, revile it but the lightsaber fights were amazing...I mean come on.

CGI vs Puppets. 99% of the time CGI looks better is this day an age, yes the orginal CGI Jabba was bad but he looks great now. The Puppet in TPM needs to be replaced with CGI. (yes I know thats been done and merely awaits release.) And I like the new musical number in Jedi.

Do I think Lucas is perfect, no. But I like FAR more of what he has done then what I dont. I like the OT the OTSE and the PT. Indy IV....is well garbage from start to finish. But Ford Spielberg and Lucas had to aprove of the story before it went forward, plenty of blame to go around. Its not just Lucas.

I tried watching Indy IV again and only could stomach about half the movie, its just awful, so I wont be watching that again. Id rather spend time watching movies I do love, Like Revenge of the Sith.

I love all the fan edits that this site does, but man you guys posts are exhuasting to read....do you like anything?

Still trying to figure out why you are here if all you do is complain about everyone elses posts. Must be some odd form of masochism. Not suggesting your not welcome here, just wondering why you keep coming back when you dislike it so much.

(EDIT: You can skip the following paragraph, rcb summed it up perfectly in one sentence.)

We like plenty of things. Don't tell me you never come home from work and complain to your wife about colleages? Here we are a peer group that share interests. We are annoyed about things like the lack of a OOT DVD release, we can talk about it here with others who feel the same way. Same goes for the new Star Trek movie, plenty of fans are skeptical, we like to share that skepticism and hear what others think. In a world full of plenty of real problems, sometimes it is nice to worry about menial and pointless things, in the end we know they don't really matter.

Well, I like the fan edits and I come here from time to time to see if there are any updates. (looks over everyone's shoulders to see if there is anything on Empire revisted) And unfortunantly for me I have a tendency to wander once Im here. I dont really like the forums at TFN becuase they are just all over the place and have too many kids.

I can tell by the intelligence level of the posts here that there are very few kids. But you all seem to hate everything Star Wars. None of you seem to like the new MMO idea and Im very excited about that. You all hate the clone Wars and I think the show is awesome. And you all think the orginal theatrical release of the first trilogy is the end all be-all of human exsistence. (that is not meant to be snotty)

I suppose at the end of the day Im looking for a like-minded community to share my favoriteist hobby ever with and I cant share with you becuase anything post 83 you hate.

::: waves to crowd ::: Hi! Mesa back!

Ok remeber when I said I cant read anything about Star Wars without someone bitching about the prequels or SE? Its actually gotten worse. Some images from the new Trek movie (FINALLY!) hit the web today. Now if you go here http://movieblog.ugo.com/index.php/movieblog/more/exclusive_star_trek_photo/ the man, who didnt even post his name, couldnt write a single paragraph about Star TREK without bashing The Phantom menace. HELLO! What exactly do these two things have in common! NOTHING! Hey mr UGO writer, STFU!

But this is what I am talking about. I can never read anything without dealing with this.

AxiaEuxine, I don't think your post was the reason for the backlash so much as Keela's was. Kind of funny to hear her going on about being tolerant after telling us to "shut the fuck up". That was not cool, and that kind of behavior does not make one popular around here. We are all about tolerance around here, complain or praise, you will find people who agree with you and disagree with you.

AxiaEuxine said: Well ever since the SE and the Prequels came out you cant read anything about anything Star Wars without someone making a comment on the SE or the prequels. Sometimes it doesnt even have anything to do with the SE and PT. They just take the opportunity to bash what happened to their Star Wars. Its exhausting as a fan of the SE and PT to have it continually based when you are reading about a new SW game coming out that has nothing to do with either. SW fans used to be all one big community and that was refreshing...now that I think about it that sounds a little cult-like but it was my cult and I belonged. Now its just as factured as everything else and I end up writing posts like this instead of what I liked about the latest episode of the Clone Wars...I tried but I saw the responce that episode got in its thread...

At any rate, no need to go all dramatic about "not being wanted" around here. Stick around, as long as you don't go around being an ass, you are way more than welcome around here. If you go around talking about Lucas being god, and telling everyone they need to get over the OOT and accept the SE, well, then don't act shock and surprised at the resulting response.

AxiaEuxine said: Im not saying accept the SE, you dont have to...I dont understand the hatred it generates. (I dont understand preferring the old trench battle to the new one either. Or the new Mos Eisley or the land speeder SPFX being cleaned up, the better Stormtrooper Dewback shot, Lift off from Mos eisley...but I digress :) to each his/her own) However, I do have a very high opinion of Lucas and you make it sound like Ill get blasted for it. Thats not cool if I cant call your opinions into question.

You talked about how much you like Star Wars, that is great! We like it too. I do not like the SE though. Not because it is cool not to like the SE, or because I stubbornly don't want to like it. I just don't like it. I suppose there are things in life you don't like, right?

AxiaEuxine said:  You got me there, the things I don't like are legion. But it really does seem that its just trendy to hate Lucas and Star Wars which has been a HUGE part of my life since I was 6 years old back in '77. So to here everyone, everywhere constantly bash it and I suppose bash you becuase you still like it makes my soul ache. Personally I cant wait till friday and another adventure in my fave universe.

None of this is meant to be an attack I am truly tring to understand why it came to this in Star Wars land.

Just one last thing. My wife is my strongest supporter and I have been going on about this Lucas hatred since 97 and she might be tired of listening to me somewhat :) She is no Lucas ass-kisser, her head is not in Lucas' lap and she is more than willing to listen and debate with anyone. Isnt that right Keela?

OK, Im not sure what happened here. I meant my original post to be more of a funny haha type of thing instead of a "Think you are all stupid" kind of thing. But this thread went very ugly very fast. I wanted to address a few points...

I always admit when Im wrong so on one point here goes... Despite that it was intended as a humorous piece perhaps originaltrilogy.com was not the best forum (so to speak) for my post. So I apologise for that, if you took offense.

I underestimated some (I said some) people's all-consuming hatred for Lucas. I am certainly not trying to chase anyone away from these forums. I was not offended by most of the remarks in this thread despite the somewhat unnessary agression of some of them. I did think about leaving becuase I have been blasted by fans and media alike for still liking Star Wars ever since 1997.

Star Wars is my "thing". It keeps me sane. (OK Im obsessed.) It was awesome, everyone knew it was awesome and everyone agreed that Empire was the best movie. (Every once in a while youd run into people that like Jedi best but there wasnt any heated debate about it.)

I found this forum looking for versions of the prequels with the deleted material reinserted. I was looking for that or the knowledge on how to do it myself. I dont recall which exactly. Then I discovered all these different fan-edits and I thought they were fun so I stuck around. (Not to mention Adywan's masterpiece)

Id like to stick around. I like the talent here. It also seems to be largely kid free, another bonus. I just get exhausted by people complaining unendingly (is that a word?) about what I love so much. I don't get it. I want to share with my fellow fans that joy but I know if I go to a forum, or online, or read a magazine review people will just be bitching about (insert latest SW thing here) becuase George Lucas is the antichrist.

He isnt the antichrist in my opinion. Are all of Lucas ideas pure gold? No. There are things I hate as well, but the good FAR outweighs anything I don't like.

There were some responces in this thread that were far more agressive than they needed to be imho but Im not going to bring those up as I believe it will enflame an already heated situation.

Like I said, I found your forum not through any hatred of Lucas or modern Star wars products and I would like to stick around. But if Im not welcome here and will only be attacked I will leave this community. I dont tend to stay where Im not wanted.

OK I have come up with a concept for the LAST edit of Star Wars ever needed so you can all stop whining about what they did to YOUR Star Wars. (BTW pretty sure it still belongs to Lucas)

First of all you will need to by The Ultimate Star Wars Experience Player to be sold by Lucasarts. This player plays all Star Wars video available. No Blu-ray, dvd, laser disc or vhs player needed.

You will need a High-Speed internet connection.

And your favorite flavor of Popcorn

Watch the cool opening menu animation (Completely customizable becuase some of you will hate the default one and open a thread about how much it sucks. But this will make you look silly now becuase you customize it.)

Select the Star Wars you wish to watch.

Episodes 1-6, Cartoon, Animated Series, others

For this example we will choose Episode 4.

Then we get two other choices SE, Original Theatrical release.

We are going to pick SE this time Then you can choose Normal or Customize.
For this demonstration we will choose customize.
Now you can set up the movie you wish to watch.Choose whether or not Jabba will be in it, will Han shoot first? Old Mos Eisley or new and so on and so forth.
You can also choose Fan-Edits thanks to the release of the Ultimate Star Wars Experience Player SDK that allow fan-edits to be uploaded and incorporated into your version of Star Wars.
So you can add Adywan's new Death Star battle to the Original Theatrical release of Episode IV, opps that would be the 78 release. I meant the orginal theatrical release of Star Wars.

Want to be able to tweak it better than that? How about just start watching the film? Choose from either OT or SE as a template and have the movie be enjoyed as a customize on the go branching version.

Customize on the fly from Lucasfilm released options and fan-edit uploads. This version will be saved as you go and once youve created your masterpiece it will play seemlessly once all options are finialized.

Cant wait for Adywan's Version of empire? Get out the video editing equipment and add those drop ships and 40+ walkers to the battle of Hoth. Upload to the Ultimate Star Wars Experience Player Network and now everyone can incorporate your change into thier movie. With edits that dont involve new footage only a small txt file is downloaded to your player to tell the machine how to arrange the movie. You'll be watching your best friend's edit of SW in no time!

This is availble for all Star Wars video properties.

Some features include...

the "All Canon" button which will remove non-EU canon from the movies.
The "I died in 97" button. Which prevents anything but the original theatrical releases from playing.
More features include...
"Jar-Jar-less PT"
"Extended edition PT"
"Humorless Star Wars"
and much more!

Lucasarts is proud to present a solution that will silence the naysayers forever. With Ultimate Star Wars Experience Player, everyone's version of Star wars is the best one! Get yours today!!!!

Man I am tired of all of you fans arguing about Star Wars all the time...it's exhausting. It makes me want to leave fandom becuase none of you ever have anything positive to say. I would love to discuss Star wars with fellow fans but no one seems to like Star Wars anymore...Well I guess I can save on rent if I dump my hobby room

If Im wrong Im wrong, it was right there in print in the DEFENITIVE making of Star Wars book, so I admit it. About me going on about the quality of film from over 30 years ago...well I do tend to user hyperbole. In my honest opinion I like the changes in the SE, I have a Star wars blog on my website where I go into greater detail as to why if you are interested in reading it.

The stereo was the first release, and the mono was the last of the original three sound mixes to be released.

Okay, if Im wrong on this then I apologise but it really wasnt the focus of my point. But If Im wrong Im the first to admit it...now I just have to find that thing I read where he was working on a mix the day of release... hmm

Edit, okay I found it in Rinzler's the making of Star Wars book and you are right...my bad. I must have misread it elsewhere years ago. Now I know everything. :)

(I still prefer the SE to the OT, but my fave edition is now ANHR, EPV adm edit, EPVI ADM edit, and the PT ADM extended editions)

The quality of the playback on those old VCRs and the contiuing degrading quality of your VHS tapes should be pretty close to the quality you experienced in a theater in 77.

Let me guess... you weren't there, were you?

Wrong sir/madam, Im in my late 30's and I WAS there, Ive been a fan ever since they first hit the scene.
