STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

@ gavin77: It could be that no one is uploading at very fast speeds, or it could mean that you need to try some different ports for your Bittorrent client. Are you using a router, if so try forwarding your ports. I'm still downloading my copy from a.b.starwars, and I'm almost finnished. I had to stop my download earlier today because of work or else I would be watching it right know.

Man, I had to wait till the wee hours of the morning to start downloading this off of news groups. I tried earlier this evening and my DL speeds were crap, something like 32k a sec. My speeds after hours are alot better, more like 150k a sec. Anyway, I just started the download so I hope to have it finnished in a day I hope.

I never said we knew a second death star was being built IN ESB . I said we knew one was being built from the events told in ROTJ, and while I agree that it never came out of nowhere it was however revealed to the audience out of nowhere. Basically telling the audience, guess what we we working on during the events of ESB. It serves as a secret plot device, revealed in the last act. It was how ROTJ as written if you step back and think about it.

With all do respect, I cant believe you want the death star in ESB. There is absolutly no reason for a death star to be shown anywhere in ESB, and it would not play off very well at all visually. Also, the audience allreadys knows one was being built during the events of ESB as told through ROTJ, and copying or inserting events from ROTS would not do justice to ESB at all.

I fully agree with the other changes, they improved the movie a lot.

The whole new vader sequence and the arrival on the Star Destroyer, the line change during lukes visit to dagoba when R2 was spit out of the swamp monster "your lucky you got out of there". Some of the cloud city segments, one in particular where Leia, Lando Chewey are running down a hallway that was modified to show the exterior of the city. I could also go on to say that Temura Morrisons new voice over for boba fett was unnecessary also. Something about the accent that makes him not sound very serious. However there are some other additions I can live with.

Either you have a bad memory or you have never seen the originals enough to recognise all of the new additions. No offence to you of course.

I'm against showing any deathstar in ESB. It's not about the deathstar. Color correction, restoring original lines, beefing up some battles, and cutting some of the unnecessary SE additions. Thats pretty much all it really needs. Except mabe for some added special effects here and there.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the rotoscoping for the sabres.

The prequels made him like that, but thats because the prequels are cartoons and Yoda looks like a cartoon in the prequels. Why not make Yoda blue? You might as well because IMO its just as far deviant as the bright prequel-green Yoda is like on the 2004 DVD.

To be honest, I could live with either version. The neon green never really bothered me. I'm not too much of a purist in reguards to the classic trilogy, so I can live with some of the changes. It would be up to ady if he wanted to go with the true yoda color.

BTW, thanks for checking out the clip!

I don't understnd all the fuss with yodas color, he looks great as is. Ady did a wonderful job on the color, but just in case anybody is curious, I did a color correction job on the yoda section of the trailer just to see what the difference would be like. I was able to find pure neutral points in the frame, and I also reset the black levels to match. Over all, I like adys color better. I made a Divx re-encode of the whole trailer if your curious to see what the true color cast on yoda looks like. The file is 7 mb in size and looks just as good as Ady's Xvid. I would also like to note that the yoda part was accidently cropped at a different rez when I exported the section to color correct so it's going to have some letter boxing on the sides....my appologies. I don't know if this has been mentioned on other threads or not but the part where Leia and Han decide to go to Bespin to hide out. They look at a computer readout that supposedly lists a bunch of star systems. It would be intresting to see a quick shot of the readout they are looking at. Also during Vaders Bounty hunter briefing, it would be cool to see more movement from some of the characters. IG-88 and the lizard man hardly move or chow any kind of expression at all.

EDIT: sketchrob allready mention the bounty hunter briefing.

Oh and BTW, awsome trailer Ady. The added AT-AT's really pumped up the Hoth battle scene.

How much HD space are you looking at for the ESB edit? If I remember correctly, you quoted 2 terrabites for Starwars Revisited. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd be willing to wait till May ( the 31'st anniversary ) to see it, if it takes that long. Been trying to successfully convert the Xvid to dvd for some time now. The problem is the converter scales the image to NTSC resolution and wont antialias the picture. I have even tried to stream the Xvid to dvd with no change in resolution ( which gave me a perfect picture) but the only player of mine that will work with it is my VLC player. None of my other players ( including stand alone ) have the codecs to play back this conversion.

Okay so I cant help myself, here are some ideas for Adywan's treatment of Episode V, The Empire Strikes back

1. Removal of entire Vader shuttle sequence, it ruins the timing of this sequence.
2. Reinstatment of original "Bring my shuttle" line.
3. Molten metal edges to lightsabers going through metal during Luke/Vader fight
4. On-screen de-ignition of Vader's Saber after end of fight.
5. Enhancment of de-ignition sound of Vader's saber at end of fight.
6. On-screen de-ignition of Luke's Saber when he follows Vader off of the Carbon Freezing platform.
7. Fixing Stromtrooper's fallen Shoulder pad in Han being carbon froze sequence
8. Removal of Han's bicep cuffs as they are not in Return of the Jedi
9. Clouds needed in shot of Lando and Luke re-entering Falcon from under Cloud City
10. SE shot of Falcon approaching platform 327 looks "wrong" somehow. The Falcon looks flat or something, I cant explain, the shot just bugs me. I dont want this removed as I love all the new Bespin exteriors but the Falcon needs fixed.
11. fixing Saber colors, Thier widths are fine but Vader's seems to be almost pink in some shots in the SE DVDs.
12. Fix timing of sound, perhaps adding on-screen de-ignition of Saber as Luke exits Wampa cave.
13. It would be nice if the AT-AT could squash the Snow speeder a little flatter, don't know how feasible that is.
14. More life-like Taun-Tauns ala Cantina alien edits
15. Reinstatment of "You're lucky you dont taste very good." instead of keeping different "You were luck to get out of there" line
16. Reinstatment of original announcement of "The first transport is away."
17. Reinstatment of original sound effect when Lando releases the Mic that lets him address cloud city and inform the people that the Empire has taken over. It's a small thing but I preferred the original.

Possible additions, wishful thinking.

1. More At-ATs Snow speeders in background of battle. Perhaps another snowspeeder can do the leg thing after Luke's success in the background? Perhaps add some probe droids, speder bikes and AT-STs. Strafing runs of retreating rebels at end of battleby tie-fighters isn't out of the realm of possibility.
2. More tiefighters in asteroid chase? Plenty of rocks for them to run into.
3. Perhaps the Falcon could fire at these ties. Those turrets can be controlled from the cockpit, just not as well as having someone actually in the turret. Besides we don't see the Falcon fire those things at all in Empire.
4. Maybe a couple more ships protecting the transports departure? Maybe some ties could race out to great them and be destroyed in a brief exchange of fire as the transport gets past the Star Destroyer?
5. All new shots in the Asteroid chase? Dont know how hard rocks are to do in 3d software. However Id want the musical cues in this scene retained which means you'd have to delete stuff to insert new...nevermind.
6. Perhaps a MUCH LARGER fleet could arrive at Hoth and have the planet surrounded, this would explain why the transports go straight at a Star Destroyer instead of taking another direction.
7. Do something to address the fact that Luke gets off the planet without seeing a single Imperial ship, let alone engaging one
Well thers my initial thoughts, Now I think Ill do one for Jedi

That info would be better suited in the ESB and ROTJ widh list thread LINK

In a movie, when you follow a moving object from shot to shot, the object must always go in the same direction. But here, we have the falcon exiting hyperspace and going from the top to the bottom of the picture, and then in the next shot she goes from the bottom to the top! It puzzles the viewer: did the falcon just turned back?

Yes you are correct; however, we allready know where the falcon is headed to anyway so it makes little difference ( for us atleast ) which to way the ship is facing in this case. It's just a matter of prefference IMO. The original doesn't show them going in or out of hyperspace at all, or even show the hyperspace tunnel at that. I guess for the ones that have never seen starwars would get a bit confused. It's up to Ady if he wants to change that shot. I'm satisfied either way.

I would love to PIF the DVD-9 as I have the ability to burn dual layers, only problem is hard drive space. I just don't have enough to store 9 gigs of data at the moment or at any length of time. Gotta get another hard drive before I can PIF anything.

@ Bobocop: How about getting your daughter to take care of my gopher problem before they ruin my plumbing lines and cost me a fortune in repairs.

@ Mojo_LA: I agree, criticism is a very good tool to improve from. I enter alot of CG challenges, and I will finnish a entry thinking I'm going to win or place high, only to find out I didn't place at all. The criticism use to hit me pretty hard, but I have learned to use it as a tool, and it has helped me get better and better. Now the criticism doesn't effect me nearly as much anymore. It still bothers me a little but it's nothing I cant handle. However, there does come a time where the criticism takes on the form of ass kissing and trying to play favorites. I have seen it happen on many forums when someone gets a little fame, and then all the sudden a bunch of people will suck up to him hoping to gain something above the others. That kind of stuff is a real turn-off and starts fights real fast. There also comes a point where the criticism goes too far.

Of course this is just my own opinion.

EDIT: Good to see your still around Ady, and get well man, you deserve it.

In regards to recent posts... Maybe someone has a nice kitten picture to happier-ize the vibe? Just a thought.

My reaction to their reactions on the most hated....

WHAT THEY HATED

- Added screams of Rebel soliders getting shot in opening. - I cant believe they hated that?! I'd scream if I got shot by a lazer.
- The re-edited scene in Ben's house. They recognized that it was reworked to the original script, but felt the changes made to the original were done for good reason.- Ady's edit still gets the same point across.
- The first establishing shot of the Death Star. Too busy, the elements don't match and the Star Destroyer is sliding across the screen.-It was pretty evident that the elements were different, but it still looked professional.
- ALL music that has been added. Especially to the Lightsaber fight. -Thats debateable, alot are going to like it, and alot wont. It's there to give energy to the fight.
- The added effects to the torture probe needle. Just wasn't neccessary. - it works either way.
- New lightsabers are too fat.- Now thats BS, look at the prequel sabers ( episode3 in particular ) they are fat at the base and taper off to a point at the end, and the gradients don't fade off very well either. Nothing like the classics.
- The Falcon exiting hyperspace near Yavin.- I don't get it, it's such a short shot, and it still looked good IMO.
- The big TIE fighter reveal. It doesn't really bother me, but I didn't hate it by any means.
