You want Bingo to announce SLIGHT TOPIC SHIFT next time?

No, I asked if he could clarify his posts a little bit better next time he try's to change the topic. No offense to Bingowings was implied.  Perhaps he thought we were talking about the lucasfilm logo instead.

I actually thought he was reffering to the Fox Logo at first.

This is just a simple case of both sides misunderstanding each other, so calm down a little bit Frink, Ripplin, and brash_stryker.

I think you misread my post, I was talking about the Lucasfilm Ltd logo not the Fox logo, you might not call this twinkly.

The immediate topic at that point was about the 20th Century fox logo, not the Lucasfilm logo. With all due respect, could you clarify your posts a little bit better, before you try to change the topic.

As far as the newer Lucasfilm logo is concerned, I like it alot better than the plain green text version, but thats just my own opinion.

Personally my Pavlovian juices only really get moist when I see the old Lucasfilm logo (I associate the twinkly one with so much disappointment) but it would be daft replace the twinkly one with a nice clean reconstruction of the old one just to get me dribbling...Oh Zeus Plugs did I actually type that?

The new one doesn't twinkle dude. It does; however, have more reflection, and some new geometry, plus a more realistic background. If you want to see a logo that does in fact twinkle, just go watch a Disney film.

Just think of the new Fox logo as ( 20th Century Fox logo: Revisited ).

I think the old original Fox logo is better suited for the unaltered trilogy IMO.

Anyway, Ady probably likes the old logo better, which doesn't bother be at all.

I highly recommend lowering your expectations for these upcoming blue-rays. I think Lucas is going to add alot of stuff to make them look pretty like the prequels, but I'm afraid thats all they are ever going to be. Lucas is going to force the OT to look like the prequels. I think alot of the problems that Ady is working on will still be present with these blu-rays, and I really don't think Lucas is going to spend the time and money to do the level repair work that Ady is doing with his edit.

I also expect alot of the new stuff they will add will have no business being there. Example, the removal of Sebastion Shaw's head in favor of Christian Hayden, or the sarlacc pit enhancement.

Pretty they will look, but problems remain they will.

I cant see anything good anymore coming out of lucasfilm, period. I think we are going to see some big changes in the OT, and probably for the worse. Lucasfilm seems so out of touch with the sensible fan base. I think perhaps that ADY's edit might have given them the impression that the fan base want's a major visual change in the original trilogy, making them better fit the prequels visually and story wise.  I would not be surprised if lucas is looking at these lost dailies for footage that works better with the prequels, and filming/creating new stuff for the OT as well.

I can only hope that Lucas does not put Jar Jar or any more gungans in the OT. Having them in the ending celebration in ROTJ was bad enough.

I think there's a good reason why Revisited hasn't had the hammer dropped on it. At least I have a good theory. ;)

Welcome to the boards here at original trilogy Rouge leader!

LOL, looks like they love it enough to see how the next one turns out; however, it really surprises me that nobody from LFL has registered here to express their thoughts about Revisited.

Ady, great to see your back on the edit! Hope your wife is getting better.

I have a couple of questions about the camera your using when you film the starships. Does it film at the same frame rate they used to film the actual models, one frame per second? I know you can adjust the shutter speed, but if it doesn't have the ability to film at the same rate, will the quality be a little bit different even if you change the frame rate in post?

Just a few questions I have been wanting to ask for a while.

I did contact you but heard no reply. I guess my message got lost somewhere. Anyway, the guy who I'm working with on the CG had a good model of the X-wing so that shot is complete now. Thanks for offering to help me out though.

Most welcome ADY, glad you got it finnished!

About your last message, sorry It must have gotten lost or something. I usually get an email alert from PM's here. I checked the PM box and there wasn't anything new.  I had a pretty good idea you already had somebody else on it after I had the problems with the file you sent me, and then my desktop went "Ka-put" soon after that.  My new desktop has a true quadcore AMD processor and 8 gig's of ram although capable of 16 gig's. Still don't have everything yet. I'm still waiting for a good GFX card and monitor that I don't have $$$ for until feb or march of next year.

Anyway, maybe I can help out with ROTJ:Revisited when your ready for the VFX.

Also glad to hear about your mother doing better, hope she makes a full recovery!

What shot in particular are you referring to? I would love to see more work from you.

Cheers, thanks  for the nice coment!  The quick shot of the ties as they enter the Death Star after Lando and company. The bluescreen matts stick out so badly. ILM really dropped the ball on the color timing with that shot. I was thinking about complelety redoing that shot in CG.

ABD I'm guessing in your finished version the ship wasn't in attack mode.

Yeah, the finished version is not in attack mode. The pic I posted was work for the lighting environment for the model.

I want to remind again that my version is not in Ady's edit, and I cannot get to it until my Desktop PC is running again.

Take it from an expert - if you want to get your point across, you have to say more than that.

Is that for me or for Ghost?

"Bingowings" said:

Using the same model (which looks great by the way) you could try your hand at doing a video mockup of one of the ideas on doubleofive's ROTJ suggestion list.

I actually thought about that for ROTJ, but not with that particular scene.  That scene still holds up pretty good ( IMO ), even today because the X-wing is moving really fast. So fast in fact that you cant really see the "matt" unless you pause the shot, like in your example. I will see what I can do what I get my desktop PC running again.

No, he completed the shot with somebody else I imagine. Like I said earlier, I could not get/find a X-wing model that matched the studio version used in ESB. My render was done back in feburary I think, and Ady hasn't kept in touch with me about it since. Anyway, I'm not worried about it. Ady does a fantastic job with or without my help. Once I get my desktop going again in a few months I will post the full animation I worked on. The animation does look a whole lot better than the still pic.

Ok, here is the test shot I mentioned. It's not an animation, just a still shot. My Maya is currently on a desktop PC that is out of commision at the moment so I cannot grab and re composite the animation I worked on. The still is from very first render I made, and was just working on the lighting for the scene. The X-Wing is untextured, and the ship angle is just temp.  let me know what you think.

Been watching this thread progress over the months and wow, there are alot of really cool suggestions; however, as cool as they look, they seem to take away from the "How I use to rememeber Empire".  Is it really that important to change an angle that still works, or to study a split second shot so closely for a costume defect, or for in-camera extra that may or may not be moving that way you want them to?

Anyway, the ideas are really cool, but they seem to eco what George Lucas does; changing, just because he can.  I was at one point doing a shot for Ady ( Lukes X-Wing approach to bespin ), but I couldn't get/find a CG X-wing that was detailed or textured well enough that matched the studio model. I did a test render/ composite with a X-wing I found for free on the net. Be glad to post the test render if anybody is curious.

SAVE LANDO!!!!
Time

"Adywan" said:

I always had an idea almost straight after seeing ROTJ in 1983 that Lando should have died. i had even planned it and wrote it down and i still have the outline i wrote. it took away the rehash of ANH feeling i had away from it. One thing i couldn't understand is why the hell would the emperor not protect the main core from torpedoes after what happened to the original DS? That just didn't make sense and still doesn't. My original outline was what if they reached the core and the torpedoes had no impact at all on the shielding. what do they do? the only ship large enough to do any sort of damage was the falcon. i had planned to have lando ram the core as he screams "yeeehaa" and it is wedges X-wing that you see just escaping the death star just before it explodes. But bloody independence day went and did it. i still love that idea but can i still do it now that film came out? i don't know. i may have to find an alternative ending somehow. now after the SE came out and the PT there was an extra part i wanted to see after the DS explodes which ties in all the celebrations around the galaxy. that, i am keeping secret for now.

Why the emperor didn't protect the main core from torpedos? He had the shield generator, and the imperial fleet was to keep the rebels trapped while the death star picked off the battle ships one by one. Something that wasn't done in ANH.  In the end, the emperor was over confident, just as Luke told him. He didn't expect/accept the strike team on Endor to be able to destroy the shield generator.

Having Lando commit suicide by chashing into the core screaming yeeehaa is pretty funny.  It would also create a few problems with Lukes escape, as he wouldn't be able to escape. He wouldn't be able to see his fathers face before he dies. He would also die almost as instantly as Lando would if the death star exploded as fast as the first one did. The rebel fleet might not get the chance to get far enough away either. I think the all ready established ending works best, and has worked for me ever since I first watched it.
