No Country for Gunmen New Poster (* cancelled project *)
Time

Now that Renascent is pretty over and done with (until ESB:Revisited is released) I’ll be taking on a new fan-edit outside of Star Wars. This will be my second fan-edit. An edit of No Country for Old Men.

I remember reading the book and loving it, but when I watched the movie I found the pacing to be kind of weak, so I’ll be adding music and splitting Chigur and Lewelyn’s fight in the street so that I can use the rest of the footage in the end sequence. Even reading the book, I felt the last fight should not have been omitted.

The music I will be using will be from the “Man With No Name Trilogy” soundtracks, “The Godfather” and possibly some other soundtrack pieces here and there (video games etc). I’ll also be playing with the colour and grain to make the film look like it’s from the 70’s. No big changes in terms of quality, just a subtle adjustment to make the film look more “classic”. Also, please note that the music I will be using will not be noticeable to the average movie viewer (which means I won’t be using the main theme pieces from the movies I mentioned).

The edit will be in 720p and 5.1 surround sound.

Fixed.

Does not compute....

Ok guys, in terms of distribution torrents will be up soon and please note that I will not be distributing these in hard copies due to the fact that I can't afford it and dealing with people paying me for the supplies and having to prove I'm not actually making profit is too much for me to handle, so you'll have to wait for the torrents. There are a few people I will be four individuals I would like to send hard copies out to.

Thank you both! Anyone know where Ripplin is by the way?

Haven't gone anywhere. I tend to rely heavily on e-mail notifications and I stopped getting them for this thread, I've realized. I missed a lot.

Edit: I just got a notification for none's reply. What in the world is going on?! So frustrating! :(

Well I had finished everything, including the DVD and it looked like I exceeded the DVD-9 limit by 2%, and so we were all panicking about losing quality vs. losing Menu Intros and Animated Intros but as Ady suspected, DVD Architect estimated incorrectly and we're good to go!

I can't re-render it as I don't have that computer anymore (as of two hours ago). The disc space is currently at 8.7Gb for the full Disc One. I'm over by 2% (although I should probably cut that down an extra 2% just in case)

I have a potential proposal, I could remove the ANH/AOTC credits and just keep the ones I made, and then add the rest of the credits to Disc 2. Does DVD Architect allow me to cut out a chunk and fade it? If that's possible then I think we have a reasonable solution because I don't want to lose video quality after working out so many bugs and after re-rendering so many times to get the best quality I possibly could.

How do you re-encode the movie without having to re-render the whole thing? And what's DVDShrink and DVDRebuilder? Sorry, I'm new to this whole DVD making stuff.

Just a side note, I just sold the initial computer I used for this edit! That's the computer I learned to edit and create graphics with. I loved that thing!

The differences would be:

No opening logos to the DVD

That Opening Video I showed a few weeks ago is cut

The Scene Selections Intro Video is cut

Scene Selection Thumbnails are Still Images

It still has the scene selection menus, the main menu with preview video and background music and the intro to the main menu. But if people would be want to have what I originally envisioned, that's what they'd have to go with and then mount it to a Virtual Drive.

Ok, I removed all of the DVD Menu videos (except the Intro) and the special features and the animated previews and there will now be two options:

2-Disc DVD:

Disc 1 - Basic Menu and Film

Disc 2 - Special Features

ISO Method:

Disc 1 - The Better Menu (with Intros, Transitions and Animated Thumbnails) and Film

Disc 2 - Special Features

Disc 1 - DVD-9

Disc 2 - DVD-5

Be warned that Disc 1 - ISO will be almost 9Gb!!! Would people be interested in this method?

EDIT: Just a quick update of things to do:

1. DVD Cover (To be featured in Spot)

2. 30-Second Web Spot (To be featured on DVD)

3. DVD (All done now, just need step 2 to be put on here)

I've run into a bit of a problem here... I'm over the DVD-9 limit! Even if I put the Special Features on another disc, I'm at 8.6Gb with just the main video... I'll see what I can do. For now expect this to be a 2-Disc project with the second disc being Bonus Features.

I'm at 101% of media usage! DAMN YOU 1%!!!! DAMN YOU!!!
