Anyone? Maybe I need a better graphic card?
Anyone? Maybe I need a better graphic card?
Holy shit! While I was replacing the AOTC scenes, I came across one of the scenes InfoDroid had given me permission to use (the mirrored deaths), and at the beginning of this scene there was clashing a clashing music cue and a missing sound effect (the bike). Originally, I wasn't able to fix the clashing music cue and the sound effect I had used wasn't properly isolated, but after wrestling with it, I was able to isolate the sound effect and I was able to fix the clashing cue. For the cue, I removed the audio chunk that was clashing completely, used one from the soundtrack and blended it into the gap and it worked!
So if Vegas is required to construct an image (transition, auto-scale along timeline, etc), the video lags a bit. I have 5gb of RAM and a 2.6, dual core processor. I didn't have this problem when I first got the computer though... I'm going to defrag the comp. tonight, but besides that, does anyone have any advice?
Haha only with one hand, I'm using the other to pull the hair from my scalp! :P
I've just finished the second sequence. There are seven more sequences to do. I have other plans tonight but maybe another night when I get off class early or something, I can do multiple sequences.
Just to give you guys an update, I've redone the first AOTC sequence and am almost done the second. I'm going to aim to do one a day and hopefully be done soon. I'm then going to put a day into checking all the transition timings and the music cues.
Thanks for all the support guys. All my stuff is currently packed away, as I leave for a cottage tomorrow and then when I get back I'm moving to a new city. I'll be moving in to the new place on the 1st, but I have some things to do on the 2nd and 3rd, but I have the 4th, 5th and 6th free, so hopefully I can work 72 hours straight and get it done. :P I have another solution to the problem, remember how the original video I used was split between three really long videos? Well I was thinking about just editing the proper attack of the clones rip into that one, replacing the file and letting the computer replace every individual segment. I'm also going to go through and fix anything I might have missed. In the meantime, does anyone have a high quality sound clip of Vader breathing? The one I have is low quality and jarring.
To be honest, I've just been afraid. I feel like if I do finish it and then release it, you guys won't like it and I'll have spent two years working on something that everyone hates anyways and thus preventing me from doing ESB and ROTJ (which are the two I am most looking forward to doing). I was also thinking of changing the beginning to the a re-cut sequence of ROTJ with Vader watching Luke being killed and then fade into Renascent or just leaving this for the beginning to ROTJ or just scrapping the idea completely.
The main issue is that I have all these ideas that I would like to realize, but it is difficult to do so considering I'm working with pre-existing footage...
I dunno, what do you guys think?

Ady, I think this will come in very handy as reference to animating models.
Ah, sorry to add to the youtube madness, but I couldn't let this pass without showing it's full glory for anyone that missed this. Gotta love the Jabba moment - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA7a0ME-_wo
Not a bad idea there Jeyl, although I'm used to seeing that particular 'close-up' of the AT-AT firing before we cut to General Veers. Like others, I'll miss the brief AT-ST shots, but am sure that adywan's other tweaks during the battle will more than make up for it.
That's not the original. Someone else downloaded Boivin's and re-uploaded it. Support the artist who made it and link to HIS upload.

Sorry guys, exams. I'll get back to editing by next week. Just so you guys know, I have to re-edit all of the AOTC scenes...
I've had to put aside replacing the AOTC scenes for the past few days due to wedding preparations for my sister's wedding, as well as a lot of assignments. If a free day happens to come up, you know how I'll be spending it. ;)
Just got me a copy of the DVD.
So all the AVIs were replaced, but remember how I said the first AOTC rip ripped the entire menu with the video? When I re-routed the files to the re-rip, it took random parts of the movie. So in the next little while I'll be going through and re-inserting every AOTC piece of footage.
RCB - At this point, I'd rather just finish the edit and then send it out.
No idea why I thought re-ripping SW, TPM and ROTS was a good idea haha. I just converted those, I'm just gonna test and see if those work first.
EDIT: WOOHOO!!! I converted one shot first and it replaced the other file perfectly! Now to just convert the others.
Haha yeah I got that, I just thought me saying "I'll do that ASAP." and "Too bad I can't just force..." would send the message that I wasn't going the Xvid route. Just clearing that up. My bad.

AM,
I think you are missing the point, DON'T use xvid, use a lossless codec like Lagarith or Huffyuv.
Wtf? :S Yeah thanks.... I said I got it. Haha, I'm just curious what I'm missing now that I had before to make it work. Obviously when I re-rip I'll be going lossless.
Haha ok. I'll do that ASAP. Too bad I can't just force Vegas to accept XVID
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond, but I was dealing with a lot of transcript/deadline bullshit for my program as of September (still cleaning up after the events from February in the hospital).
So I can't even open the files in VD. Here's what I get:
WOAH!!!! Holy shit!

Boy, I wonder what A-Man is going to think of all this.
It's kinda funny and aggravating at the same time. I've been a mod before, and I've got to say Moth3r reaction took me by surprise. I don't care who started what and who said what about whose cocks, but lets just all agree that we all have cocks enough to keep us satisfied without having to get mad at one another. (Either your own, or someone else's, take your pick)
Back on track...

doesn't matter how long someone has been around. a stupid comment is a stupid comment. non contructive.
rather him hold it in, like a fart or it will stink, and i do smell something from his comment.
Who are you?
I have been around for a long time, and when I give advice such as that in Post 669 I'm not making stupid comments - I'm totally serious.
Although it's a shame when a project is marred by "technical issues", I predicted that something like this would happen, and if it was predictable, it could have been avoided.
Both Ady and I have tried to help Asteroid-Man by requesting sample clips to help work out what these "technical issues" are, which he has so far not bothered to provide.
I'm not saying I've never screwed up myself - but at least I can admit to my own failings and not blame it on shoddy Canadian DVDs (which, FYI, are likely to be identical to the US releases just with the addition of some French text on the DVD cover).
And if Asteroid-Man find these comments hurtful, he needs to grow a pair and toughen up if he wants to be taken seriously.

A-Man, you're not re-encoding the DVD's again to post the clip i asked for are you? I need the original that you worked with so i can see what codec was used and if there is any problem with the video which would stop Vegas accepting it. It should have only taken a couple of minutes to rip a very small section out of one of them and posted it. If you can't give me a sample of the original file then there is no way i'm going to be able to help you out
I've been dealing with school stuff, sorry I haven't had time. I'll try my best tonight, and Moth3r I admitted I fucked up somewhere between the ripping and the converting. It's 25fps (I think I fucked up during the rip or something) and so when I rendered it, I got a weird lag issue. When I ripped the deleted scenes, it was done correctly, so this problem did not occur.
And for the record Moth3r, I can see how you'd expect these technical errors (this is like the 30th one now anyways, haha) it's my first edit and I'm dealing with a lot of source material.
I can upload the AVI as soon as I can find the time to do it (I've seriously been doing stuff non-stop and just found a few minutes to get back here and give you an update).
The issue I have now is that Sony Vegas for whatever reason will not open AVIs. They are the same files I used on the old computer, and they play in media player they just won't play in Vegas. It might have to do with me using Windows 7, I'm not too sure.
I've been really busy lately with school, so you guys have to bare with me (it's the weekend, so I should be able to do it tonight or tomorrow)
To all the other posters reading this thread, if this issue does NOT get solved, I'll handle it - it'll just take a bit of time. Again, I really appreciate your help ady, but if we can't solve this problem, it seems like the best solution would be for me to just replace the project files with WMVs and for me to re-rip AOTC.
I've never had this problem before, so anyone else's guess is as good as mine (regarding the weird AOTC rip and Vegas not playing AVIs)
Ok, just cause the AOTC rip was all weird and included parts of the menu, so I'm gonna re-rip that. In the meantime I can get you a clip of any of the others.
For the record, the AVIs worked in Vegas on my last comp, just not this one.
Of which, AOTC or just any AVI that won't load?
Well Ripplin, although one problem is more or less solved, this brings us back to a problem I had a few months ago and was never able to resolve: Sony Vegas will NOT play AVI files for some reason! (It did on my old computer, but that computer was more or less unusable anyways)

I'll be mailing the discs to Adywan in a couple of hours.
Hold off on that, I may have a solution.
EDIT: What the crap!? After recovering the project file on this comp, it looks like AOTC is in 25fps, but then the file on my computer says 23.976fps. Now I'm really confused...
Well Ripplin is sending me some other discs too and i think he has already sent them out to me.
OK, something is really confusing me now. You said that your Canadian DVD of AOTC was to blame yet you now say that it is in 25fps, yet Canadian releases are NTSC. But you also say that the file on your comp says 23.976? So where do you get the 25fps from?
Asteroid-Man said:
I DO have the original project file on the harddrive, but it won't load the project properly.I mean I redirected everything but that AVI issue was never resolved on this new computer so now none of the rips work. The only thing I could work with would be the MPEG video track which would be the same as the DVD video track that Ady will be using. The difference being that I don't know how to resolve the issue but ady might be able to.
Are you working with a Sony Vegas project file? If so i have the answer that will save you a LOT of work and you won't have to work from an already recompressed MPEG file
I think there was an error with the pull down or the conversion, because I know for 100% that the DVD was NTSC and the deleted scenes I used didn't have this problem, and on my computer (in explorer) it says that the file (after removing pulldown) is 23.976fps but in Vegas it says that the AOTC file is PAL (25fps). If I can solve the issue on how this computer won't play AVIs, then I can just replace the file and re-render it, but ever since I got a new computer, Vegas WILL NOT play AVIs. If you know how to resolve this issue, replacing the AOTC source video should be relatively easy.
