The problem is that Shaw looks nothing like Christensen (and Lloyd looks like neither though children do change a lot). McGregor and Guinness actually look alike (they go into it in the special features) which makes the transition much easier (even if the ageing is weird). Like I said, it’s not a massive problem in the unmasking scene (once the features continuity is fixed), but as a ghost, he is completely unrecognisable as Anakin in face, style, posture, or voice.

Though, as Hal has indicated he is using the Christensen version in RoS:A and I’d got the wrong end of the stick, I’m just contributing to the gargantuan mass of this thread.

It’d have to be all done digitally because neither Christensen or McGregor have aged significantly since 2005. So just sticking his face into an ager probably wouldn’t do much 😄 .

Isn’t this what we ended up doing for this edit? I can’t remember. It was either discussed or implemented. Because to me the Anakin ghost does look aged up a bit via Faceapp. (Come to think of it I’m pretty sure it’s just the light levels messing with my eyes).

Jon’s Anakin is aged up from what I can tell with the lighting. I’ve not been paying a huge amount of attention to this thread (there’s a huge amount of updates all the time and I’d rather just wait) but I’m sure I saw Hal considering the Shaw ghost which would be a colossal mistake to me.

Deepfakeing. Actually, facially and all made-up, Shaw’s fine in the unmasking scene as he is supposed to be burnt beyond recognition (unless he ends up unmasked in Kenobi where he’ll obviously look like Christiansen) where all he needs is new eyes, his eye scar, and removed eyebrows.
It’s his voice that’s the problem, 4 of the 5 main actors for Anakin/Vader have been American (or Canadian using an American accent) so to suddenly develop an English accent out of nowhere is just suspension of disbelief breaking.

I spotted the new flashing heads opening and it fits better for the animated series than the live action heads do. Especially as it contains more characters that actually are in the show.

I think the text works better than the news reel. You can get your own exposition out of it.

If they do ever remaster it, I’d expect a 2K AI upscale with digital replacements, only, for the stuff that the AI messes up and possibly some minor digital corrections like the registry of the Defiant-A.

I knew people from school who sounded like that at that age. It wasn’t the most surprising part of the episode at all.

I’ve not seen your deserter clone anthology yet but there’s a possibility it might have a tie-in in a few days.

I don’t recall ever reading those scenes like that. It would make sense, but it always felt like more of the ‘everyone except Palps ganging up on poor Ani’ plot that was necessary for Anakin’s turn.

I always assumed it was Obi-Wan especially in light of TCW. Padmé technically has known him for longer than she has Anakin, he’s expressed a distrust of the Chancellor openly, has the confidence and trust of Padmé’s friend Satine, knew about and kept the secret of Anakin and Padmés relationship, and is a high ranking member of the Jedi Council.

It’s not massively apparent in the final cut of RotS or in TCW (thanks to the Return to Mon Cala arc being cut) but, by the end of the War, Padmé is really having trouble with finding herself on the opposite moral side to her oldest adviser/mentor and her husband. A build up of that conflict would have gone a long way to explain exactly how quickly Anakin assumes Padmé and Obi-Wan have teamed up against him when they all get to Mustafar.

I managed to get some of the Yavin stuff to load and I like the more tropical feel it gives off. The light skies and dark forest also look like there’s an imminent storm which is a good metaphor.

The lighting in the Laars’ garage may be a bit too dark. I always thought it was too dark compared to AotC in ANH anyway and I never even noticed the skyhopper because of the lighting, but it looks a little creepy with 3P0 as a main light source. (the nighttime scenes, not the daylight ones where he’s playing with the toy).

Most of the Death Star is a matte grey or a blue tinted grey but the scenes of Obi and Vader getting ready for their duel have a redish tint. Is that a Musterfar callback?

The gallery hit the point where the images were loading so slowly with my internet that I had to close it. People with normal human internet might be able to handle the whole album though.

I’m liking the new atmosphere the regraded Tatooien and Tantive IV shots are giving.

I like the sound of this episode. I’ve always been a fan of the politics in SW and in TCW especially, and it’s always nice to see Padmé doing something other than fighting or getting put in danger for Anakin.

The way you’ve inserted it still works well besides the weird red tint it has (I don’t know why it has that considering the senate is blue and grey lit) and it works quite well considering the general level of CGI in TMP anyway.

TMP has a lot of instances of things that don’t particularly match the following two films (as well as being 10 years earlier) so another Senator from Alderan is no more out of place than the Jedi Council which is only about 50% carried over into AotC. Also, the Representative in the background with the hair buns and white dress is a nice nod to the OT whereas the look of Alderan in the rest of the PT is quite different.

Out of all the changes made to the PT the audio change from ‘Vote Now’ to ‘Incoherent Yells’ is the most bizarre and baffling.

I’m looking forward to this. As good as fan edits usually are, there’s also something good about just adding all available media back to the films.

I don’t know the context of the scene (I’ve only seen screen caps) but is there any actual dialogue that indicates that the fella is supposed to be the same character as Smits’? Or that they represent the same planet or whatever the actual confusion is?

Would it be possible to fit the scene in by just letting viewers assume they’re different people like the Wedge/Fake Wedge in ANH (who I didn’t even know were supposed to be the same person until it was pointed out that Fake Wedge was now a new character).

Maybe brighten up those recessed lights slightly and make them more blue than white. You’ll still have the darkened foreground but it might be easier to see into the room.

Whoever wrote that line has no idea how government works. It always bothered me, and it’s why I’ve never liked that deleted scene.

A chancellor with unchecked power altering the constitution whenever he wants to stay in power forever? Yeah, no government has ever worked like that.

Can you truly call that a working government?

The Republic isn’t a working government. Corporations have seats as if they were systems.

I’ve no doubt that’s exactly what Dave Filoni’s template document for scripts for episodes of the Mandalorian looks like, but it’s not going to suffice for you guys.

Works like Pokemon speech. It’s only a repetition of the name but it makes sense if you speak it.

Can I get some feedback on whether the original INFO tab is clear enough, or if it isn’t, that the new ‘Info2’ tab is any clearer? I want to make it obvious to people that people who want the Mando cut just need the red episodes, but people who want the Quality cut need red + green, etc.

It’s fine to me, though I’ve seen it since you first put it up so maybe I’m just familiar and know what I’m looking for.

Hopefully I’ll be able to make some time to watch all of series one now it’s done.
